The Cocotte de STAUB is ideal for preparing stews and stews. Cast iron facilitates slow and healthy cooking, as it keeps the heat absorbed and releases it homogeneously for longer. The matte black enameled coating of the cocotte's interior accentuates this effect and enhances the natural flavor of the cooked dishes. This Cocotte has a diameter of 28 cm and a capacity of 6.7 liters. Cocotte can be used on all types of heat surfaces, including induction hobs as well as ovens. Use it to delight your loved ones with delicious stews, which will stay warm at the table. The special design of the Cocotte lid provides a redistribution of moisture up to 20 times more homogeneous. The dotted design of the inside of the lid achieves the "water droplets" effect by returning condensation up to 9 times faster.

This cocotte cooks it all. I love to use it to make beef bone broth. The size of the pan can accommodate all those big meat bones. The pan has wonderful heating capability - heats quickly, evenly and retains heat for hours. It has self-basting spikes on the interior of the lid which collect and return all moisture back into dish so your dish stay flavorful and moist. Our family loves to pan fry steaks in this cocotte, it has incredible searing capability allowing for perfect caramelizaiton.

I love this size and I love this shape especially for roasting chickens or baking a boule of sourdough bread. You have enough room to add your vegetables in with the chicken, which is a huge plus. For baking bread the cast iron is perfect because it conducts heat so well, and retains the heat. The spikes under the lid collect moisture and self-baste whatever dish you are baking or roasting in the oven, all while it is cooking, so almost like you have an extra hand! You get to take all the credit though! Bread does come out perfect when baked in a staub and your chickens will come out juicy and golden brown.

Love the look! Haven’t used it yet so can’t comment on performance. First one came with a small chip in the enamel. Consiglios was great at sending me a new one, and paid for the cost of returning the damaged item!

This 7 quart cocotte is the perfect size for my large extended family. Makes chili for 20 and easily have leftovers. Staub is not only beautiful but it is designed to make your food taste better then ever. The dark interior is not only stain resistant, but also helps caramelize the meats which adds a tremendous amount of flavor. Great for searing meats for stews and roasts. The spikes on the bottom of the lid help collect the liquids and self bastes which keeps things nice and moist. Best part is that is great to serve from...looks great, keeps everything hot and makes clean up a little easier.
If you have never used or owned a Staub oven, then it is time. I started using them about 11 years ago. And it makes my life easier. I literally toss a piece of meat or pieces of chicken, add a seasonings (I always include onion, garlic, salt and pepper) some liquid (usually a combo of tomatoes, chicken stock and wine), put it in the oven and cook for an hour or two. Done! Happy family! The 7qt is terrific for a larger family. I usually use the 5 qt for 3 people. My 7qt, which I have in grenadine, is pulled out for larger groups and special occasions.
I am an armature home cook (enthusiast) who had been researching my first enameled cast iron Dutch oven purchase for some time. All of the research and reviews I had read ultimately brought me to the Staub 7-qt round cocotte. After using it, I can say that all of the amazing things I had read and heard are true. First off, it is absolutely beautiful! The craftsmanship really shines when taking it out of the box and cleaning it up for the first time. The heat retention is unbelievable. Even after taking it off the burner, the pot and the food stay hot for such a long time, which is great for serving directly from it. It does such an amazing job searing and browning meats/veggies, and I love it for making big-batch soups. Such a beautiful, vibrant color! Think of maroon cherries polished with a high shine! The size is super generous and great for soups and stews! Great size for braising as well generous cuts of meat. I am a single person who enjoys making different kinds of and this allows me to share soup to 2-3 other families with 4-5 members per family. They are happy, i am happy too!! Happier i got this on sale price.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the user. This beautiful color, Grenadine 7 qt, is my preferred Staub oven, but in my collection I have several other colors and enjoy each one. Honestly, the Majolique colors are the very best and worth the little extra price. I never see fingerprints and they are like stained glass, different lighting give a different appearance. I love this size for entertaining, it gives food a bit of room to move around, which makes it easier to use from oven to table. A nice sized roast fits comfortably along with any root veggies that you want to add. It gives you room to stir the liquid without spilling a drop for liquid gold!
It's a very nice colour and a good size for almost everything, compared to the other two bigger sized Cocottes I have. I still use them quite often, but this 24 cm one does make it easier for making a smaller portion of food. Staub is always good quality. I hope the 22 cm will come to Australian market soon!
Had product for a few weeks now, really like it. Aesthetically it's a nice looking dutch oven, the grenadine colour is a dark maroon type with glossy red tones, which both sets it apart from the rest of the kitchen but also isn't wildly ostentatious like something orange or bright blue.Inside black enamel there are two schools of thought - I've read that some find it harder to see how things are cooking, but then you also don't get stains like you might with white enamels. I personally don't find any issue watching the cooking and I definitely have had stains gradually appear on other white enameled wares.Cooking-wise this is a really good volume (6.7L) for large family stew, soups, broths etc. Takes a little while to heat up but stays hot for a long time. Be careful of the handles and lid because they will get too hot to handle without a mitt. Lid fits very well - tight and heavy. Overall the unit with lid is quite heavy, as to be expected, and especially so if full with a meal. I don't have specific issues as a middle-aged man, but older or frailer people might struggle to lift. Moving it about on the stove top is easy enough - but again make sure you have a mitt. Haven't used it in the oven yet, though the lid handle is brass and is supposed to be good to something like 250oC.Haven't had the unit long enough to observe any natural seasoning on the enamel. Can't comment on the supposed advantages of the dimpled lid - too subtle for me to notice extra moisture and I'm not prepared to do thorough scientific research. Check online though, I think someone actually took the trouble to test it out.Overall very pleased with this product but cannot comment on longevity. Price on everten was good when discounted at the time I bought. I personally think the Staub looks superior to Le Creuset and I prefer the flat lid vs the LC gradient lid. Can't comment on cooking comparison between brands. And frankly I just enjoy having a piece that isn't so common.
