After being bitterly disappointed with the very expensive AYANEO NEXT PRO, I was reluctant to jump back into the portable gaming PC market - especially since Valve didnt release the Steamdeck in Australia!! But this light little gaming device is great. The battery isnt the best and I wish it could play my Xbox game pass and Epic games, but its surprisingly stable and plays most of my steam library. Highly recommended if you can get one on the cheaper end of the scalper prices!

It's the perfect handheld device for games. Valve knocked it out of the park. Can even be docked and put on my TV with a controller. So good.
Best handy gaming device I've used. Most games get constant 60 fps (even Elden Ring).Battery lasting over 2 hours. Steam interface and desktop mode are user friendly.Perfect for every real gamer!
As a long-time gamer on all consoles and PC, the Steam Deck has pretty much made all my other consoles next-to useless. Being able to play almost any game I want, wherever I want, and have my progress synced is a real marvel. And even games that don't support console inputs can still be played thanks to Steam Input's wizardry and the insanely flexible control layout. Finally, the fact that it is capable of acting as every other console via either streaming or emulation means that it's become my go-to device for playing every game when I'm away from my PC. Valve truly knocked it out of the park with the hardware and software design on this incredible device.
Playing the games that I was on my Linux PC. Might be a little small for things like COD or BF, but still like having the option. Just trying to get used to joysticks again.
Portability! I find myself playing through my Steam library and visiting games that I haven't played in years. It makes it so much easier to play the majority of your games. Unlike a new console from any other publisher, when I got the Steam deck, I instantly had over 100 games available to me that I could play right away. It's the ultimate "backwards compatible" machine. Not to mention, it makes for an awesome emulation machine, which just adds THOUSANDS of games that you can play on the go. I love this thing.
I have been using it for the past couple of weeks and it has been stellar. I have played a variety of different games on it in different settings for best performance. Overall i am very pleased with it.
So far so good! Very versatile software with a powerful hardware. I really wanted to play some PC games that I had a long time ago, and some games that a friend showed me on Xbox, to my surprise Steam has almost everything and then some. I have games from every console and on the go! Maybe later on I will upgrade the storage and try emulators, but for now, I enjoy committing to a few games at a time. Battery life is good for me, either way I don't have much time to play, but if you play for 5+ hours at a time then you might want to look into getting a battery pack.
