I play FF14 so I like using a MMO mouse. I saw this and decided to give it a try. It's a good mouse. Buttons are nice, it's fairly light weight considering it's wireless and has the extra buttons. Battery life seems good, easily switches from wired and wireless if battery runs low. Glides along my mouse pad nicely. I only have two minor complaints. 1st I'm used to using a mouse that has two buttons right behind the scroll wheel and this one only has 1, found that to be an odd design choice. 2nd it takes a while to set up and install the software and firmware. Again minor complaints. I was using the Wired Razer Trinity Naga and I like the SteelSeries mouse better.

I've owned a plethora of mice. Ergonomic, tons, Symmetrical quite a few. So I'm going to just compare this to ergonomic. My main go to for Ergonomic was the g703, Deathadder V2 Ultimate. No comparing the shape it is very similar to the ec2-c from zowie and the model D. Sizing of this is kind of in the medium area, not as big as the Deathadder but bigger than a ec2 zowie. Im actually liking this mouse a lot. I KNOW the sensor is a 3335 "" true move air i believe is what they call it"". The LOD isn't as low as a Logitech or razer but it isn't by any means a High LOD. no deviation from what I've noticed either but if it has any I cant tell. Im have purchased almost every ""Razer naga"" like mouse that has slowly come out on the market through the years. as this new phase of light mice grows i actually found myself really liking the ultra light feel of mice like this, unfortunately got into a habit of using the MMO style 12 button mice. That being said the buttons are unnaturally stiff. to the point where im debating just going back to my naga and returning this or just sucking it up and getting used to it. Along with the insanely stiff side buttons they are layed out in an extremely long layout. Almost all other naga type mice i have used have been in a similar layout that it took no time to get used to. this one feels really quite weird. im also getting weird micro disconnections / the mouse feels ... Nice mouse in general. I like the feel in the hands, the very light weight, and the styling. Texture is grippy enough without any annoying (in my opinion) rubberized/""soft touch"" coatings. Construction seems pretty solid (no major weak points that I've noticed), though the buttons could be tighter and the scroll wheel a bit less mushy. The connectivity options are really good - proprietary wireless, Bluetooth, and wired. When plugged in, the mouse shows up as an actual wired mouse, and works even when the switch on the bottom is ""off"" - this is excellent, as I really like having a backup in case of wireless interference/issues/etc. The receiver is USB-C (nice!), and the included braided cable is quite flexible and nice (isn't quite as flexible as certain other ... A female-female USB-C extension adapter is also included so you can position the receiver better (or use it with USB-A). There are some very important caveats I wish I knew before buying though: 1) Steelseries changed their software from the relatively lightweight Engine to the bloated and obnoxious ""GG"" - boo! 2) RGB settings *cannot* be saved to the mouse's memory - you must be running the aforementioned awful software in the background to get any RGB other than the default. Settings like DPI *are* saved to the mouse, and you *can* completely turn off the RGB, and that seems to save as well 3) The 200 hour or whatever battery claim is even more inflated than I thought. The mouse will flash green/yellow/red when you wake it up to tell you about the battery level, which is nice, but I found between first appearance of yellow and stone dead is <3 hours, which isn't really a lot of warning! 4) RGB has coil whine at many settings - its pretty quiet if you have the LEDs dimmed or some of the zones turned off though. Silent with no RGB 5) *Most Importantly* The proprietary wireless seems flakier than I would like. This is my first performance wireless mouse in a very long time, and I sort of expected in 2022 this would be ""perfect"" - it isn't. Missed clicks, missed movement (mouse movement occasionally registers as very slow for a half second or so - just enough to make you think you are crazy), occasional very long wake up times (>5 seconds). The 2.4GHz spectrum in my area is extremely congested, but I expected better - especially given my wireless trackball (from the usual suspects) works pretty much flawlessly. Haven't used Bluetooth more than to confirm it works, so can't comment on that. So overall, pretty mixed. The combination of form-factor/weight/style/connection options make it a keeper for me, but I was really hoping there wouldn't be so many minor (and major) annoyances.

For me, it's the optical switches on this mouse. No joke, these new optical switches feel so phenomenal, that I'm willing to put up with my gripes just to feel the clicks. Looking at their design on steelseries' website, they look like they should maintain their click feel forever, but only time will tell on that. If you don't know how they work, basically you press down on the button to actuate a spring that's held in place by a neodymium magnet that snaps down and breaks the laser beam to register a click. They do really feel light, but snappy. The shape is very reminiscent of a Zowie EC-2, with the main difference being that the curves aren't quite as defined. It's not awful, but I think that those curves would have made a little bit of a better shape. The coating for the body is okay, but I think it would have been more grippy if it were a little more fine. I always feel a little worried that the mouse is going to slip out of my hand. It sort of has a dry feeling to it if that makes any sense. The surface is vastly better than their rubberized sides in my opinion. The side buttons are teeny tiny for no reason. They really should be at least twice the size and stick out a little more. I feel like I'm going out of my way to hit them compared to other mice. The scroll wheel also feels a little hard to consistently press, but I think it's something that could be gotten used to. I think that with the combination of the slightly off EC-2 shape, dry feeling surface, and 80g weight, it can feel heavier than it is sometimes. I really think this mouse could have benefited greatly from being a little lighter. I imagine the wired versions feel pretty good, but I just love not slapping around a cable. Conclusion: Steelseries is finally moving in the right direction with their mice. They've always boasted about really gimmicky stuff as being some new revolutionary thing they've invented, but this time they're on to something with their OM switches. If these can feel as good from click 1 to click 100 million as they claim, then the design absolutely needs to be copied by other brands. As they feel right now, I actually prefer these optical switches to any mechanical switch I've tried. If this changes, I'll be sure to note approximately when they started to fade and under how much use. I don't think I'd say that this can 100% be the wireless EC-2 you're looking for, but it is a solid wireless ergo entry into the market.

I don't have large hands by any means and holding this mouse is very awkward. My pinky just kind of drags across my mat. The 12 side buttons are also VERY hard to press accurately. Pressing 1 or 3 is fine but any of the middle buttons (2,5,8,etc) is hard. I ended up pressing the surrounding buttons more often. They're also placed further towards the front of the mouse which led me to have to ""reach"" to get to the top row (1-3). Overall, steelseries seems to fail to improve on the Naga style mouse. This mouse is LONG. Definitely for lorge hands if you have a typical palm grip. I could see claw grips liking this mouse more. I bought this hoping it would be a good wireless replacement for a Corsair Scimitar RGB Elite. Unfortunately the first 3 side buttons sit way too far up for my thumb to reach them comfortably without changing the grip on the mouse. Don't get me wrong, this mouse is awesome, tracking is great, great mouse skates that are super smooth and glide great. Just unfortunately doesn't work for me. I've attached an image that shows the length vs a scimitar. The scimitar side buttons can also be moved forwards and backwards which is an amazing feature in my opinion, letting you set the side buttons to the perfect distance for your hand. The larger ... I've attached an image that shows the length vs a scimitar. The scimitar side buttons can also be moved forwards and backwards which is an amazing feature in my opinion, letting you set the side buttons to the perfect distance for your hand. The larger buttons on the scimitar also give a better feel for which button you're pressing.
Overall I would say this is a pretty standard mouse. Calling this mouse mini seems a little misleading, it's only slightly smaller than the standard prime wireless and has the same footprint as the Steelseries Rival 3 Wireless. Another slight issue I have with this mouse is that the dpi is only adjustable in increments of 100 for some reason. At this point, I'm nitpicking but the switches are far too loud for my taste. The mouse is very light which I enjoy and glides very smoothly. This is by no means a bad mouse it was just a mistake to not try it out before buying and all my issues with it are just personal preferences.
Update less than 3 months after purchase: Well, less than 3 months into using this mouse, the wheel has started to fail. When scrolling, it sometimes ignores the scroll altogether or scrolls the wrong direction for a single scroll notch. So maybe you want to scroll one notch down a web page and it instead scrolls up one, then when you scroll one more time it works ok. I'm guessing the sensor in the wheel is bad. To open up the mouse, you have to remove the feet, which likely will ruin them. Really disappointed in this as I'd gotten used to the size and weight. My latest venture with the SteelSeries was based off a YT vid review that just happened to play. I'd been using a Razer Viper Mini for the past year and while it was a good mouse, it's just a bit too mini for me (average size hands). I've been pleased so far with this mouse. The weight is lighter than most, which I've increasingly grown to appreciate. I don't care much for wireless mice, so this wired one was my preference. The cable is ok - no kinks and with my setup, no drag/pull as I'm moving around. I already had a SteelSeries keyboard, so the software worked without issue picking up the mouse and adjusting settings. I've never had issue with SteelSeries software before, so that's been a non-issue as well. The mouse feels pretty good and has no plastic stuck on the sides like some of SteelSeries other mice. Those glued on pieces are nothing short of a mess over time as they goop out and get on your desk/hands/mouse. This mouse is all solid and is comfortable for long usage times. Clickers work well and the wheel was surprisingly better than I feared - not exactly smoot, not horribly bumpy. Overall, I like this mouse and for the money, feel like I got a good product for the cost. I generally go through mice every 1 to 3 years, depending on how they hold up. I'm hoping this holds up to the task.
