These I use with my PS4. They are a great fit and I have had them for little over a year. I have had no problems with them so far. I love the wireless feature so I don’t have to worry about a cord. These feel good on your head and have great ear cushion when using for a long time. These are somewhat affordable based on comparison to other wireless mics. I would recommend these due to their: great mic quality, comfortability, and their price.

The only drawback is the slightly high price.

Best value gaming headset under $50!
18 March 2021

I wanted a new gaming headset perfect for my needs. My old headset is somewhat generic and cheaply made. When I saw this headset, I was thinking that this headset could be used for multiple purposes.I like the fact that the headset doesn't look too gamer-like because in some public occasions, I bring headphones with me, and I won't be stared by people thinking that my headphones look childish, distracting, silly, and funky.I like how the mic is detachable and I don't have to use headsets with flipping or retractable mics. The mic affects the looks and comfort of this headset. Mic isn't too close to your mouth, it's at the right position. I tested the mic and it's perfect for games, calls, and meetings. The mic affects the looks and comfort of this headset. Mic isn't too close to your mouth, it's at the right position. I tested the mic and it's perfect for games, calls, and meetings. Could work for streaming, but it's not the best. It's still crisp and clear. Keep in mind that as you mute your mic, people will hear it, but that shouldn't be such a problem.I tried bending, stress-testing, and twisting the headset and so far, it's pretty flexible. I did feel some worry that my headset was too stressed when I tried bending the headband, but it's the metal headband and the head cushion that made it feel stressed, and there's no need to worry because both the headband and cushion are durable, I'm more than likely sure that they won't break if you stress them. The clamping force on this headset are easy on my head and ears. It's perfectly clamped. The materials are better than your average headset. It uses sport materials on the ear cushions and memory foam on head cushion.I like the swivel on the ear cups, it makes it more compact and convenient. The headset is light, I would use this for travel too.The sound quality is quite impressive. The 3D surround sound, bass, and volume were one of the biggest details I noticed. Good for music, gaming, and talking. No rattling when I move the headset (I held the ear cups to get accurate results). For the durability, no scratches, failures, or defects are reported. I just bought it. However, I do insure that you should at least buy a 2 year protection plan for this. The cable is rubber, I like rubber better than braided because braided adds more weight to headphones, gets caught onto random objects, and not flexible. However, what I mostly didn't like is that the volume scroll wheel feels a bit loose. It might accidentally move.Overall, best gaming headset for under $50. If you're someone like me who games, listens to music, calls, and watches videos, you'll be satisfied with this headset.

Ollie's review of STEELSERIES Arctis 1 7.1 PlayStation Gaming Headset - Black
3 December 2022

Pros: Good quality build, pretty good sound. Ability to switch the mic off or remove it completely. On headset volume control. Price (£20 when purchased)Cons: Cable seems short. It's quite a small headband, probably suited for 10-16 Yr olds (it's a good fit for my 13yr old). Good that mic can be removed but this makes it easy to lose. Usual price is high (£40). Difference in quality between this and the Arctus 3 is noticeable and the 3 is bigger for adults

PC user - Defective? Returned after 1 week

I really liked the sleek design and comfort of these headphones, so I tried to make them work for a week before returning them today. The deal breaker for me was the frequent snap, crackle, and pop sounds I was getting while streaming on Twitch. My old wired headset didn't have this problem, so I reviewed the Steelseries headset/mic and OBS bit rates and made sure the mic was fully plugged in. I tried a couple other things, but the only one I refused was setting the sound EQ to flat in SteelSeries GG (product management app) because it honestly sounded much worse in comparison to "music" mode. For $100, I should be able to use different EQ settings at the very least!! PROS - Sleek design. For $100, I should be able to use different EQ settings at the very least!! PROS - Sleek design. The reason why I picked the Steelseries vs. other options at Target. - VERY comfortable ear cups. Would not hurt my ears after 5-hour gaming or TV sessions. I also have 5 piercings per ear so this was very impressive and the main reason I didn't want to give up this headset. CONS - Medium difficulty setup. After downloading SteelseriesGG and pairing the headset to my PC, the audio worked - but not the mic. I followed the Steelseries FAQ to troubleshoot, and it did not work. It somehow started working when I went to Sounds > Properties > Listen and check marked “Listen to this device” (not mentioned anywhere on Steelseries and random reddit threads). That brought the mic to life, and I was able to uncheck the box and save. - Confusing battery life LED indicator. It often would not update with the correct color indicator. For example, I would charge it to Green and then it would be Yellow as soon as I turned it on to use the headset. - Minor snap/crackle/pop issues in voice chat (Discord) and audio (listening to TV shows). My friend told me it wasn't bad, but sometimes my voice sounded choppy in Discord. Sometimes there would be audio lag. It wasn't the end of the world, but it was noticeable. - Garbage SteelseriesGG program. Whoever made this app needs to go back and work on it. You need this to set up the Bluetooth dongle pairing and in the future for viewing the battery life icon or changing EQ settings. However, the program never properly terminates after you close it, even after you've turned off your PC. I would have to run it as administrator and terminate all duplicate tasks 3x to get this app to even launch and load. And it's not even the regular .exe launcher! I had to dig around Program Files for another version of the app launcher and pinned it to Start. Finally, I wondered if the problem was my hardware - could I be maxing out my USB bandwidth? I picked up a HyperX Cloud Flight (wireless 2.4 Hz USB) on the same day after returning the Steelseries. Surprisingly, I did not have any issues. I even put the HyperX USB in the exact same USB 3.0 slot as the Steelseries USB Bluetooth dongle. Therefore, I am inclined to think the Steelseries USB was either defective or low quality.

Uncomfortable, bad eq out of the box.

I didn't like these at all. The ear cups are very shallow and as soon as I put them on I could feel them pressing on/crushing my ears. Over-the-ear headphones shouldn't press on your ears. That's the whole point of over-the-ear. I have various other pro headphones for audio mixing and am used to comfortable headphones, I guess. I could tell as soon as I put these on they weren't going to work. They don't even have foam lining the drivers that touch your ears. I have a smaller head size and at the smallest size these felt slightly too big. I gave them a shot at least, didn't last 5 minutes. The eq is super bass heavy in an unnatural/unpleasant way. They seem decently well made I guess. I can't say I feel like they're worth $100. Comfort should be the primary design ... MoreI didn't like these at all. I decided to pickup an over-the-ear headset to alleviate discomfort from using my powerbeats3 earbuds as an alternative audio option when gaming with my 5.1 setup isnt practical or appropriate. (For example my girlfriend is asleep, working from home or whatever other scenario requires quiet gaming.) I love my powerbeats3 ear buds but earbuds really cause me discomfort after an hour + of usage, hence my purchase of a reputable over the ear set. This SteelSeries Arctic 1 set is, so far, absolutely fantastic. It is lightweight, noise canceling, has great breathe-ability for your ears, and most importantly, the sound quality is excellent. If anything it is slightly lacking in the lower frequencies in comparison, but this could just be because they are over ear, and not earbuds. I decided to test them out playing Hellblade 2 : Senua's Sacrifice - a game highly recommended to be played with a quality headset, and this headset adds another level of immersion to that particular play experience. Overall - at this price point, I highly recommend this headset. The flexibility to quickly swap from my PC, to my PS4 Pro, to my phone by simply moving the dongle to the new device to pair with is also a very cool feature. Just make sure you dont lose the dongle or your wireless capabilities are toast!

The headphones themselves sound awesome and the mic sounds really good for what it is. The drivers are great and have no problem hitting lows, punchy or sustained bass, which is what I look for in a headphone. They sound like they should be in something two or three times the price. I honestly think they sound better than my old sony dj headphones, mdr-v700's. and they were over $150, however they prob block out more background sound since the cups are vinylish. the cups themselves on the steel series are not vinyl or anything that gets hot and uncomfortable, its something like a thicker type of cottonish stuff with some light foam like stuff for padding. I can wear them for hours and not have heat or comfort issues. they're comfortable and worked fine at first (although when the mic was plugged in there was always a persistent static hiss, apparently this is common with most steel series headsets.) over time the static hiss would become louder and i'd have to wiggle the mic to get it to stop. occasionally it would flip out and start turning on/off which causes a really unpleasant beeping in your ears. now the mic has stopped functioning completely. so sad i wasted $90 on a headset that didn't even last a year. do not get these!
