I wish there was a way to do 4.5 because there are some minor issues, but overall these are very good. I switched over from the Logitech GFits to these and they outperform the GFits in every way except for comfort/fit and connection resilience.CONS:Steel Series GG app is better than Logitech GHub but that really isn't saying much. The interface is cumbersome to say the least and while updating firmware for these was a breeze compared to the GFits this software could be improved significantly with some QoL improvements. These really do not fit me well at all. Trying all 3 tips that came with them I have various issues compared to the GFits. They fall out easily either due to the tips being too small or too big and don't expect to be able to do things like smile ... If you're connected to the 2.4 dongle in "pc" mode you still receive calls/audio in bluetooth mode pretty seemlessly. So if you're working or gaming and you get a call the bluetooth audio overrides the game audio which is perfect for me.These are pretty high quality and water resistant as well. Having push button control rather than a "touch" interface on the ear pieces is kind of strange but it does prevent accidental activations for the most part.

Steelseries is my go to brand for any gaming products and I will always choose them if they have something available. That being said, I was extremely excited when I heard they were releasing gaming earbuds. I picked them up from my store immediately upon release. The first thing I did when I got home was connected them to my PC to update the firmware on Steelseries GG app. I then tinkered with the settings and it sounded phenomenal whether it was gaming, or music, or just watching Youtube. Everything was loud, crisp, distinguishable. So imagine my surprise when I go to test them on my PS5 and the sound is....well...nonexistent. No matter what I did, everything on the PS5 sounded extremely low volume despite all of my settings being at max. Fortunately I'm not ... I tried on multiple occasions and it was a 10+ minute effort each time despite my phone being connected via bluetooth already. As the title goes, these are amazing for PC and Switch, but absolutely STAY AWAY if you're trying to pick these up for Playstation. I wonder if the Xbox version actually works on Xbox now.

As someone who preordered these, I can say they check about every box for me aside from two minor issues. The first issue that really can't be fixed is the mic on the headphones themselves. Then again it's really a non-issue because I can't really expect much more out of such a small package. Especially when it lives up to the 10 hours it claims to give on a single charge. The second issue is one that has persisted across two different sets of buds (I exchanged the first pair I received because of this issue) which is that in "Transparency" mode if all is quiet or I have the volume low on either the 2.4 connection or a bluetooth connection, you get a very low volume bit high pitched sort of distortion/interference that started in the first pair in the right bud. ... Let me start by saying that I generally despise earbuds because they seriously lack in every single way possible acoustically. Unfortunately I am a migraineur with Trigeminal Neuralgia which means that I can no longer wear headphones because they put pressure on the trigeminal nerve and trigger my migraines. I looked at several brands of in ear headsets and read reviews before coming across these gems. I know Steelseries from other products I own and eventually decided to take these over the ROG set due to the incompatibility with the PS systems. I have been listening to many different styles of music for about 3 hours now, only using about 2% of the battery so far (with the sound processing and active noise cancelling running) and I am impressed. I have been listening to many different styles of music for about 3 hours now, only using about 2% of the battery so far (with the sound processing and active noise cancelling running) and I am impressed. The clarity is impeccable, distortion is undetectable, highs are crisp, lows are punchy, mids are resounding, vocals are clear and understandable even at high volume... The 3D emulation is precisely on point and executel perfectly. This was only on the bluetooth by the way... I expect that the 2.4Ghz digital connection will be even more incredible. As someone who was expressly AGAINST earbuds for ANY audio, I highly recommend these, if for nothing else than to listen to music with. Gaming will be at a whole new dimension.. The app is a fantastic touch as well for keeping track of charge, e.q. settings, and other tweaks and customization settings. Highly recommend!
Here's the bottom line with these gamebuds, if you game while you're traveling or you mostly play solo then these are pretty good. But they are NOT a "main" headset that I would use daily especially while gaming with friends. The biggest problem with these gamebuds are the mic, they're practically unusable. The other issue is the design and ergonomics which I'll go into more below. My main headset is the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless which are excellent, but I get tired of wearing them because they're so heavy and they make me look like I'm about to taxi a plane, so I wanted something small, lightweight, and demure if you will. I tested them while playing on both PC and PS5 with friends and on the first day I became the butt of many jokes by my friends because of the mic quality. The feedback that I got from others was that they either couldn't hear me because I sounded so quiet compared to everyone else (even with my mic volume at max), or the mic kept cutting in and out constantly. When I finally switched back to my Nova Pro Wireless headset my friends let out an audible sigh of relief in unison, thats how bad these gamebuds are apparently. Aside from the mic quality, the sound quality is actually decent. I do agree with other reviewers that the bass is actually not bad with these and I would go as far as to say that I would recommend them if all you do is play solo. I had zero issues with connectivity for either bluetooth or 2.4 and it worked perfectly fine for both PC and PS5.Now on to the design of these gamebuds as I mentioned at the start - it's terrible. The biggest problem is these gamebuds either fit really well for you or they're a constant pain that you have to keep adjusting. It was the latter for me, and for some context I have AirPods Pro which fit me perfectly. In addition to the fitment issues when you adjust the earbuds you will 100% accidentally touch the very large side buttons which are pre-programmed to switch you from 2.4 to bluetooth or change your ANC setting (depending on which earbud you touch). Every...single...time that I adjusted the earbuds (which seemed like every few minutes) I would end up touching the buttons, it's infuriating. But wait, theres more - because theres only one button on each earbud in order to do simple things like mute your mic you have to hold the button for a "short time" (Steelseries actual language). The problem with that is if you hold the button for too short of a time it registers as a tap and switches you to a different connection mode, if you hold it for too long then it increases the volume. Basically muting yourself becomes a side quest in and of itself. To wrap things up here - the only reason I would keep these is if I was traveling and playing solo which is not something I do often, so unfortunately these are going back to Best Buy.
I am happy with my purchase. I've used Sony linkbud S, and Pixel A buds prior to these steel series. I have small ears and comfort and stability is important to me. The Sony and Pixel earbuds would hurt and cause discomfort after 30mins of use or so as well as start moving out of place if I talk or move my jaw in anyway. I've used these steelseries for several consecutive hours multiple days this past week without any discomfort and I've only had to reposition once per session. The Bluetooth and 2.4ghz modes have also been convenient when receiving phone calls while playing games, however as they do advertise these buds do not give simultaneous audio from both sources, so while in the call I would not get any sound from the PC. This can be good or bad depending on situation or your setup but it works for me. I think the artist nova headset will do simultaneous audio if that's what you are looking for.Battery life has been good. They did not die on me in use during an 8 hour session so I'm happy. I haven't done any in-depth testing of charge rates and dissipation but I'm sure there will be someone who does.Audio quality is great, no complaints from me there. As for the mic, it's just okay. Even playing around with the settings it's no replacement for an actual mic. For me it does what I need. I give it five stars for working as advertised and meeting my needs.
I waited over a month to buy new earbuds because I saw Steel Series was releasing new ones. I use their Arctis Nova 7 headset and have always loved the quality and features the headset has.The main reason I wanted these earbuds over my existing Pixelbud Pros is they have a 2.4Ghz receiver and was hoping they'd have better mic quality. The 2.4 receiver allowed great sounding audio and overall the fit was comfortable. The Bluetooth seems to cut out very often for me. That was pretty disappointing. I also found the mic to be very low quality. I probably would've settled for these headphones, but the straw that broke the camels back was the buttons. It has actual buttons on them. I also was disappointed that the button commands aren't very customizable and hard to remember. You can only change some of them, whereas most earbuds these days allow full customization.Steel Series usually makes great products, but I think they need to make some improvements and try again with Arctis Gamebuds V2. I will consider giving them a shot when that time comes, but until then I'm going with something else.
I really really wanted to like these GameBuds. I have had a SteelSeries Arctis 9 headset for nearly 2 years and loved it. It gave out on me today sadly. I purchased these GameBuds because I really really wanted them to work and work well.Unfortunately, I will be returning them tomorrow and getting a proper headset. Like I said, I really wanted to like these earbuds. They sound amazing for earbuds and honestly if I hadn't run into the issues that I did I would have considered getting them as backup at a later date. The first issue I had was the buds didn't have separate channels like my Arctis 9 headset did. With my headset, I was able to separate chat (discord), game sound, and even other media if I decided to. This way I could change the volume levels of one without messing with the other. The buds don't have this feature. The second issue came after using them for roughly an hour and a half. The left ear randomly started losing connection. That alone makes me very hesitant to use these for gaming especially streaming. I hate having to troubleshoot on stream and if my earbuds kept losing connection I would get very frustrated very fast. Now the right one started losing connection. I AM LITERALLY SITTING NEXT TO THE WIRELESS DONGLE! Unless it's just a weird issue I was having I would consider these a waste of money (and time).
These ain't it.. Compared to the Asus Cetra SpeedNova, no contest. The only thing the Gamebuds have going for them is the game profiles and a slight comfort level.Sound is what matters. The Gamebuds sound laughably low compared to the SpeedNova. The ANC also isn't up to par. I would rank the Gamebuds third in terms of gaming earbuds.... 1- Asus Speednova, 2- Sony Explore, 3- SS Gamebuds.I need my game buds to be loud and punchy. I'm just not getting that with the Gamebuds. The Gamebuds have a slightly more controlled/refined sound, but also sound whisper quiet in comparison to the competition. I need my music to over power my TV in the background with/without ANC, these don't do that. If I'm listening to Rock at volume. I shouldn't be able to hear a casual YT ... MoreThese ain't it.. I shouldn't be able to hear a casual YT video of a product review playing on my TV/laptop. If you value your hearing. I guess it's not much of a concern :)The dongle and 2.4ghz tech is just okay.. Depending on your environment you'll get that SS metallic/robotic interference noise from the 2.4ghz connection. In dual mode, the phone takes over and cuts out sound way too often.. Dual mode needs a lot of work, and will cause complete disconnects (yes my firmware is up to date) probably a good idea to disconnect BT after setting sound profiles.I would recommend these overall. I think they're comfortable; but ear tips could be better. I don't think they're quality. I think third party ear-tips would provide better noise isolation. The sound is good, but if you're looking for loud and punchy, look elsewhere. Good battery life from the case and buds. Nice first attempt by SS.
HenryW's review is completely wrong about everything he said. His device(s) is/are likely the issue, not these earbuds. He clearly didn't read the product info and thinks that these are dual channel audio. They're single channel and you have to manually switch between 2.4 and Bluetooth.Despite a horrible experience actually purchasing this product in-store, I'm very happy with the product itself.- Amazing audio quality- Crystal-clear transition between 2.4 and Bluetooth using triple-tap button command- Case battery lasts multiple days with constant use- Impressive microphone quality, tested for multiple days at my job as a phone tech support agent- Decent active noise canceling, great transparency mode, satisfactory physical ear-plugging effect, tested at a ... They're single channel and you have to manually switch between 2.4 and Bluetooth.Despite a horrible experience actually purchasing this product in-store, I'm very happy with the product itself.- Amazing audio quality- Crystal-clear transition between 2.4 and Bluetooth using triple-tap button command- Case battery lasts multiple days with constant use- Impressive microphone quality, tested for multiple days at my job as a phone tech support agent- Decent active noise canceling, great transparency mode, satisfactory physical ear-plugging effect, tested at a punk show with 100 decibel music- Generally intuitive default commands- Powerful and fast audio customization via SteelSeries Arctis mobile app- Additional detailed gaming customization via SteelSeries GG
