Stihl 40027102169 Autocut C26-2 Mower Head

Nice to see Stihl are updating the design of the strimmer head in an attempt to eliminate previous weaknesses on the cover head. From Gustharts, delivery was fast and the order expedited with their usual efficiency. The only place I go to for Stihl products, even though they're in Northumbria and I'm in London.

Just purchased my first Still string trimmer. Runs great band starts on first pull but autocut head really sucks. It wouldn't feed any line so I had to stop and disassemble the head and remove the line it came with them replace it with new line. The line was really tight and stuck together as I unwound it. When I used it with them new line I installed it did the same thing. The line sticks and then a bunch came out at once and knocked a hole in my new vinyl fence twice. I am sorry I bought this now. I should've never sold my Echo I loved it but was moving. I heard you can put an Echo speedhead on this Still so maybe I can fix it. Not using it with this one my wife is so mad about the holes I am in doghouse for trying to save $.

1 year update

Worked very well for the first 12 mths and I raved about it. Now its very hard to manage as the cover and bump seem almost frozen together when clipped in, despite cleaning and lubricating the cover and bump it fails to engage new line. Now the head cover falls off when "bumping' for more line. Not sure whether it's simply worn out? Note I live on a lifestyle block so this gets some decent amount of use. The original head might have to be reinstalled and that's served me well the previous 10 years!!

Best strimmer head

My original Stihl strimmer head would snag on one of the lines with every use ! I thought I was doing something wrong. This replacement head is fantastic, easy to fit new line in one piece and auto feed works every time.

Careful before buying

Unlike what has been written previously about this, it will not fit the FS56 model. The threads are different. On my Stihl unit they are fine and on this head unit, they are course. Update. Supplier refunded partial payment and I kept the unit.

Like this version better than the standard line bump head holder. Much easier to put new line on as well, very satisfied with this product

Not worth saving the extra $15

The line keeps getting stuck/jammed I had to stop several times and opened to fix it. Definitely not worth the money I ended up going to Ace Hardware and purchased the Oem Autocut Easyspool C6-2 and not one time had an Issue. Yes it was worth the $32.00 no doubt.

Wow! I had the older model on my fs56 bought some 5 years ago. When the head wear down I tried some no name replacement - a bad idea. junk. Then I tried Echo model which supposed to fit Stihl too. It did, but it was not perfect, and did feel fragile compared to my old Stihl head. and - it had a gap between head and mounting plate, inviting all weeds to get stuck and block the trimmer. Real pain, at least for me as there are plenty of thick vines which always got entangled. Then - I found this model. When it arrived I was surprised how heavy and large it is comparing to older one. But it works perfectly! Serious improvements done to the design. When you attach it, it seamlessly becomes a part of the machine. Not a smallest gap allowing vines to get entangled. I do have almost 2 acres of tropical land to take care of, and this head makes it so much easier. Worth every penny. I just use a different, stronger string - that one called TitaniumForce. it last longer on tough weeds. If you like me can't decide between this - a bit pricey head - and a cheaper alternative - you may end like me - buying twice - until you have this super tool.
