Bought the unit last fall. I see from all of the other reviews, my line breaking inside the head is a normal & continuous problem. I do have block walls and fence lines to trim, something that I think is common to a lot of people, apparently your designers aren't aware of common trimming areas. Get a new easily serviced head out quickly to get quality back into the Stihl products!

All of my lawn equipment is Stihl. My son was a professional lawnscaper and recommended to buy commercial quality. However, I have had nothing but aggravation with the Stihl trimmer heads. The repair center is fairly close to my house and I end up having to stop my trimming and drive over there about every other lawn job. The spool lines up properly and receives the line OK, but THEN the fun begins. I'll bump to advance the line and it works ok for awhile, and then I look down and there is about 3-4 " of line advanced on one side, while the other side has pulled the line inside the spool! And then you have to disassemble the thing to pull the line on the one side back out again. This time, the internal part of the spool is jammed up and can't even get it off. I've already purchased the upgraded spool and the line they recommend. I feel I've reached my liimit with Stihl and need to look at other brands if Stihl can't resolve this ASAP. I can mow my lawn faster than it takes to weed trim the edges.

Idk why there's so many bad reviews maybe they aren't doing it right but it's the best trimmer head I've ever used. It's easy to load it bumps out line like it should and holds a pretty good amount of line and I use .105. Its honestly pretty light and well balanced. You can't expect them to last forever either as they are just getting thrashed. I will buy another one when mine wears out on my kombi straight Shaft. I hook it up to my km-111r and seems to be the perfect trimmer setup

I purchased a C6-2 trimmer head today as my original head for my FSE-60 was very difficult to spool string. I used the C6-2 with the string that was included and the string broke in the drum within 10 minutes. I removed the string, and installed new string...same thing almost immediately. Tried another string same thing. Changed back to my old head which worked for the next 1/2 hour.Evidently this is a faulty unit or a VERY poor design.
Literally just bought an hour ago and the trimmer line ( that came with the wacker) got stuck. Took apart and manually loaded some line. Lasted 5 minutes and recoiled back into the head. Took apart again, removed line and put back together.Strung up as described with head attached and went another 5 minutes before it recoiled again back into the head.Returning the whole trimmer, after 50 minutes of use.Garbage.
This trimmer head is absolute junk. It came on a new FS70R that I picked up today. I maybe got 5 minutes of cutting out of it before the line (.095) snapped off in the head on one side. I opened it up, manually fed more line, and ran it for less than 5 minutes. Both sides snapped off in the head this time. I thought maybe I had old brittle line until I saw how common of a problem this is with other users of it. This is garbage and should be replaced with something else from the dealer for free as a warranty issue.
I have been using the Viking trimmer (which is now Stihl) since 2006. The trimmer was identical to the new FSE60. I never had a problem with the spool. The old trimmer was used almost every weekend for 16 years and eventually it was time to replace it due to normal wear and tear. I bought the new Stihl FSE60 only to find out that the new spool is absolutely rubbish. I can't trim more than a few meters and the line retracts into the spool and its then a real struggle to take the spool apart to fix the line only to have the same problem again after trimming another few meters. I had the new spool replaced and still had exactly the same problem. I would say that the trimmer is of no use at all with the new spool.I put the old Viking spool on the trimmer and it works ...Β MoreI have been using the Viking trimmer (which is now Stihl) since 2006. I would say that the trimmer is of no use at all with the new spool.I put the old Viking spool on the trimmer and it works perfectly. Fortunately, I have also found a Chinese clone of the original spool and it works absolutely perfectly. In fact, because of Stihl's refusal to acknowledge their design problem, I bought three of the Chinese replacements for future use. The three cost less than one Stihl spool.Stihl's response to say you must bump the spool more frequently to avoid the problem astounds me. That is not the solution β itβs a dumb unreliable workaround for their design flaw. I have been using trimmers since the 1970's and never have had such problems.Come on Stihl, you know itβs your design problem. Fix it and restore our faith in your products!
I just bought an FS91 trimmer today and the Auto Cut 25-2 was already installed on it. I knew the trimmer head would fail me like the cheapy residential Stihl trimmer I bought about 5 years ago, so I decided to buy the brush cutter attachment for my new Stihl FS91.Again, just like my old Stihl, I had problems right from the start with the line trimmer head. The line that was already sticking out was used up quickly, and the rest of the line would not come through. With my old Stihl. I was fed up with the crappy line head and bought one where I could use strips of line, but even that was a pain because I had to carry a large bundle of those line strips in my back pocket and was putting new strips of line in every 60 seconds. I will not do that to my new Sthil FS91. ...Β MoreI just bought an FS91 trimmer today and the Auto Cut 25-2 was already installed on it. Ok. Here goes.Yes. The cord has a tendency to "weld" together from the heat. Now, when I load more cord, I spray i quick shot of Liquid Wrench Silicone spray on the cord. Haven't had an issue since. Line come out every time.Overall, this does quite well for grass/weed trimming. For those complaining about a cord? You have no gripe. It's a corded electric trimmer. Duh!
I am a lawncare professional (this review is on my personal residential equipment), so not inexperienced casual winding incorrectly. ;)I am, otherwise than this, a Stihl fanatic. Last week spent nearly 3 hours trimming, changed all 4 heads I had CAREFULLY wound - still failed to get even half of my home front yard done!
