Some things I needed to research, which others may find helpful.- The KMA 135 R has the slot for the battery in the tool (the KMA 130 R has connector to attach to a battery pack -Backpack/Waistpack)- The trigger is pressure sensitive allowing control of the power- The tool has three power levels - can save battery when needing less power- When not used for a period of time (guessing about 5 minutes) the tool return to the lowest power level (this can be mildly annoying)KMA 135 R is a positive change from the gas model as I no longer need to make sure I have fuel, that it is mixed or deal with startup. I used the pole attachment today and feels like the same effectiveness as using the gas power head. I own most of the Kombi attachments and hope to update my experience as I use them this spring. It is a more pleasant experience than the gas tool as there is not the constant drone of the motor and I can work earlier and later with the tool as it is much quieter.

I've owned the 135R for maybe six months now and since then my gas kombi motor has not been used. The electric kombi dosen't have to be reved up to get power it has the power even at low speed. You can select the power range you need, 1,2,3 which will save your battery so it will run longer. I use mine mostly on the lowest power setting. You only need a higher power if you are cutting thick tough blackberries or small saplings. I just picked up a MSA 200 C-B chain saw today which also uses the AP batteries have yet to turn it on. I only have one battery an AP300S and it seems to last a long time. I'm planning on getting another in the future. I've run a KM130 for 12 or so years and have been extremely pleased. That being said, I have always liked Stihl products and I have been extremely interested in a battery powered KM unit. I tested out a KMA130 but didn't like the idea of using a belt-style battery system that plugs into the unit. Once this unit came out with the swappable on-board battery came out I knew I wanted to try it and now I finally have a couple weeks under my belt. While on paper it doesn't have the RPMs on my edger and trimmer than my KM130 had, the torque this guy packs is insane. Normally I would have to "work the ground" while edging for the first time and the 130 would sometimes skip a little in rough conditions. The KMA135 ripped right through even on power level 1. Normally I would have to "work the ground" while edging for the first time and the 130 would sometimes skip a little in rough conditions. The KMA135 ripped right through even on power level 1. The trimmer works great in this respect as well. Personally, I feel like the blower works just as well as it did with my 130 although on paper I know it doesn't blow as hard.My favorite thing about it is the variable power level. When doing light trimming around the house, power level 1 was plenty and it helped conserve battery. When I needed more, I could bump it up. Regardless of level, I never felt like any attachment was underpowered. One negative I've found is run time. A full AP300S won't outlast a full tank of gas in my KM130. Even then, the charge times are quick enough (I splurged and got the AL500) that it isn't too much of an issue. This technology is still relatively new and I feel like it will only improve going forward. My hope is that while battery technology improves, Stihl keeps compatibility with older product. The other con to this unit is weight. According to specs it is 1.5lb heavier than my KM130 once you put the battery in. That said, it is comparable to an FS131 and is EXTREMELY well balanced.

Purchased this prior to Xmas with the FS-KM and FCS-KM attachments. Brilliant tool with plenty of torque behind itI can say that this is a commercial quality tool and unfortunately this also reflects in the weight of the unit. It’s probably not the right tool for some people as it could be physically demanding operating the machine. As a commercial operator I absolutely love the tool and am happy I purchased it. I purchased this as an upgrade and my old FSA 90R still works fine after over 4 years. The power difference is phenomenal and my FSA 90R as good as it is now feels a little lot softer. But that said it weighs a lot less.
I just can't say enough about the electric Kombi system. I've had it for over a year and although it's hard to imagine, I actually look forward to getting out in the yard (5 acres) and going to work. Attachments I have are the weed wacker, blower, hedger and mini chainsaw. All work great! I also have 2 batteries and the "super charger". I throw everything in my side by side dump bed and just go to town. With this set up I have essentially no down time between charging. I have essentially the same weed trimmer in the gas version and never use it anymore. The power of the electric is on par with the gas version. Just bite the bullet and jump in! You can thank me later!!
I bought this about 3 months ago. I have many attachments. It was able to handle all of them. From trimming to cutting 14inch tree trunks. It is almost as powerful as my 131 gas unit.Few things I don’t like. Heavy with the battery. The need to select power level prior to pulling the trigger can be annoying at times.Few things I love. Ease of use. Battery change is a breeze. Quiet. No emissions. I have the fast charger and I have never needed to wait to charge
The battery only lasts for 30 minutes of pretty well continual use before needing a swap, but I'm not having to tote around the backpack or the belt pack making it easy to set down and do something else and pick it back up. And the power, it's as strong or stronger than any Stihl gas powered weed eater I've ever used without all that weight. I've been a fan of the ability to swap attachments ever since my last weed eater system where I used the pole saw attachment and several different weed eater heads from feed spool heads to blades, and this one tops it hands down. No more replacing primer bulbs and old gas lines and jacking with trying to get it started when the new season rolls around. I highly recommend trying one if you haven't! My next purchase will likely be ... I've been a long time Stihl user but just purchased a KMA 135R and it is amazing. Previously, I'd bought Stihl gas multi tool with my son, so we could use a variety of heads for different outside tasks. However, once I purchased the KMA 135 R, I discovered that it would work with ALL the attachments that I'd previously purchased and was battery operated! No gas, no oil to store and it is quiet, durable and has great battery life.We love it and have found that it has just as much power and durability as the original multi-tool. I've had it now for over a year and there is no going back for us! It doesn't pollute so its environmentally friendly, made in the USA and easy to maintain. It has "lightened" up our lives!
I am a home owner who takes pride in keeping my own yard. I’m familiar with lawn tools, owned my own lawn car business at one point. This tool changes the game! 1 power head, multiple attachments and I get everything done without cluttering my garage. The battery life is great but I have two 300ap just in case. I’ve worked all day in the yard switching out and never had to stop. Most of all…It’s never “not started”. Frankly can’t go back to two cycle again. Loud, smelly, out of gas, out of mix, won’t start, pull till your arm falls off, all Gone! Stihl has proven battery is a better product and I’m looking to take my whole garage that direction. The compressor goes next Ha!
I bought this power head in May had plenty of time to use it. With the summer here and all the rain the grass is growing good. I have 4 attachments that I've had for over 20 years now. Hedge trimmer, weedeater, edger and a blower. I've had the opertunity to use them all and so far the power that unit produces is more than my old gas power head. I saw that the first time I used it. I know it's hard to believe but it's a fact. This new unit has a switch to change power levels I keep mine on the second level and it's more than enough to do the job and it saves the battery a bit. I wish they invented this stuff 20 or 30 years ago we would all be ahead of the game. Battery equipment so much better and when your finished you don't smell like gas or oil. Great stuff Stihl ...
