The quest for magnetic delay tones ends here. The Volante is full of sounds that you can get lost in for hours. Yes, there's plenty to tweak, but if you have a bit of background on the machines its emulating (just watch the right TPS episodes!), the parameters are really intuitive and the learning curve is not steep at all. Much less than, say, the Timeline. If you like drum or tape tones in general, pretty much anywhere you start here will take you on a journey - there's no need to spend an age looking for the sound that inspires you first. You'll find those on the way! This really is one of those pedals that gives you ideas and makes playing feel like a conversation.

This is a great sounding delay with an excellent user interface. It's made me spend a lot more time playing, which was one of the goals and I'm still discovering the possibilities. I was hoping to use it as a looper quite a bit as well, but that part is not as much to my liking. You can loop just fine, but it's not the machine's primary function. When you set a loop it continues to record over every pass unless you press and hold the left button and there is no way to undo anything you've sent into the loop or save the loop for later. You can change the delay settings when the loop is playing, which is cool, but you can't use the Hold function. Adjusting the loop level and the rate of decay of the loop is fairly easy...if you read the manual. Kind of secret buttons ... MoreThis is a great sounding delay with an excellent user interface. Also the decay is really sweet since it incorporates tape degradation, but it only does that while it's recording every pass. If you 'lift the tape head' as Strymon puts it, then the decay stops too. Otherwise, it does sound great and lush -especially in stereo. The possibility of panning the the feedback heads is awesome. I recently figured out how to configure an expression pedal and I set it up so that the toe position cranks the repeat button creating a controllable tape feedback that can go on and on. Love that. So it's a typically awesome sounding Strymon pedal, just don't buy it for the looper.

Amazing pedal. Incredible sound quality

Amazing pedal. Incredible sound quality and well designed interface means you can control all effects from immediate knobs (as opposed to menu diving or using extra midi controller). Stereo field panning possibilities and sound on sound looping are excellent touches. Obviously it’s Strymon so it’s expensive.

Inspiring Delay
15 February 2022

The sound of this pedal perfectly meld into the guitar sound, it feels like part of it and not something on top...hard to explain.I run this in Stereo and it sounds gorgeous, I haven't been exploring all the features like Sound On Sound but I am very happy so far.I also love the Spring Reverb, perfect for Surf Rock kind of tones.I tried this with a Strymon Flint and a Meris Mercury 7 and they work beautifully.

Makes wonders

This pedal is a real wonder box for any player/performer/producer who adores tape and magnetic drum delays. Sound quality is exceptional as well as usability, UI and etc. Sound on sound feature just makes you improvise for hours. Very fun, very useful. You want to make something sound beautiful? Just push that sound through Volante. Really. Very recommended.

The best £375 I’ve ever spent - Seriously. A truly remarkable device. The level of design, functionally, capability and sound is quite frankly astounding and the interface is a breeze to navigate. The sounds out of the Volante are incredible. The Drum, Tape & Studio echoes are exceptional. I can’t honestly say I would choose to use the Volante’s spring reverb over my Surfybear, but then I know the Volante’s Spring isn’t trying to emulate an amp or tank reverb. The looper is excellent: the half-speed/double-speed, reverse playback and brake are a lot of fun and engender creative exploration. My very first test for all new pedals is to see if they add white noise or hiss at high volume levels. Not all buffers are created equal and this one is great - it doesn’t ‘add’ anything - just restores sparkle. Also, I have to mention Strymon’s efficiency... had this Volante on pre-order and guess what... it arrived early! Who else manages that? No-one in my experience!Happy camper here.

Excellent rapid painless service. Product as described and looked mint in the flesh. Works perfectly and has given me the delays I needed for my Hank Marvin moments with that special vintage vibe. Just as important is the service from pmt. Bought using klarna which was also rapid and trouble free. Arrived well package within a few days. Well done PMT
