Sun Bum Original SPF 50+ Sunscreen Lotion - 177ml

Decided to buy this one after not being happy with my "clear-zinc" formulas that somehow still manage to leave me looking like Casper the Ghost ( I'm not even fair-complected!) . I am 54 yrs old and have already had basal cell skin cancer removed 2 times from the same spot about 15 yrs ago. Now I am more likely to get it again so tanning on my face it put of the question let alone burning. I was hesitant and shocked when I first used this - it has the consistency of soup! Okay maybe slightly thicker but not by much! Watch out it is SUPER THIN! I found the best way to apply this is by pouring a little into palm of my hand and then dabbing on my face and rubbing in. Next - protection factor - which I've tested multiple times before writing this review and - I love! In fact, yesterday in near 100 degree with sunshine at the pool - I forgot a visor. I only applied sunscreen before leaving and sat out for a solid 3 hrs peak time (12-3pm). When I came home I thought I had burnt - face looked red I was like - not going to be a great review from me - but I think it was just the heat! After my shower..etc... my face had zero color! The protection is EXCELLENT. The liquidy consistency I totally can work with so I'm still gonna give it the 5 stars - plus - I smell nothing so it's my new go to - I pray they keep this for a LONG time on the market!

Are Y’all Lying in These Reviews?

This sunscreen is not terrible, but it is far from perfect. It leaves an oily residue and feel to your face. It pills and flakes when you rub it in which is really annoying because who wants to walk around with white flakes on their face? These issues could be tolerable for me since the price is so affordable however, I won’t be purchasing again due to the irritation it causes to the eyes. It just won’t stop burning! I am constantly tearing up soon after application because it hurts so much. Am I not to apply around my eyes and leave them unprotected from UV rays? Yeah, I will be looking for an alternative. Supergoop is expensive asl, but at least I won’t have to deal with horribly burning eyes.

Doesn't work! Burn in the sun or shade

This is my 1st time buying & using this product. My husband and I applied this product 3 days ago at Assateague Island. It was a super sunny day and very hot with an ocean breeze that just didn't quit. My husband only applied once, and was in the shade 95% of the day, but he STILL got burned on his feet and face. Like I said, he got burned. Oddly you can see where he WIPED it on in a couple of sections. As for me, I did as directions indicated and applied often as I wanted to sunbathe most of the day. I was in and out of the sun about 6 hours and the sunblock was applied about 4x. I STILL BURNED but not everywhere, which again is odd. Before you judge, yes it's where I applied and I even was turning my beach chair so the sun would hit me from different ... MoreThis is my 1st time buying & using this product. Exploded everywhere

I was packing for Florida anod my mom told me to out all my liquids in a ziplock bag incase they leaked. So that's what i did and I am very happy because when I opened my suit case the plastic bag was filled with the sun up and everything in the bag was covered. I couldn't tell yoy if the product is could because I didn't even use it because it was such a mess. I got a new zip lock bag for it and cleaned it a little bit and put everything back in the bag making sure I closed the lid of sun bum. I got back home and what do I see? The lid was opened and it had spilled in the ziplock bag again. My other sun bum products and perfumes had sunscreen in every crevice and half the bottle was already empty and I haven't even purposely put it in me yet. Great for everyday use

Pros: I've been using this for almost a year now and it works great! For reference, I have a medium-olive complexion and oily-combo skin. No white cast and doesn't make me look greasy either. I use a hydrating lotion before putting this on and it helps with the absorption. It makes me look dewy! I also don't burn in the California summer anymore. As for cons: If you're sensitive to fragrances, the smell might put you off. If you're also worried about the ingredients not being entirely kid/reef friendly, I'd suggest looking elsewhere for a mineral sunscreen. Otherwise, Sun Bum is great for everyday use (at least until I find a good mineral sunscreen without a white cast).

I love Sun Bum's signature line for body

I use other SPF products depending on the activity or weather but Sun Bum lotion is one I reach for very often. I bought the same duo in SPF 50 this round and I'm so glad I did! I live in one of the hottest and driest cities in the world and while the SPF 30 did very well, this was the smarter choice. It takes being the sun for long hours for my skin to burn or get irritated but living where I live, and the sun being the leading cause of aging and skin cancer, I wear it head to toe everyday. It's just as quick absorbing and lightweight as the SPF 30. These lotions are so comfortable to wear and provide excellent protection from the sun while moisturizing your skin! I love the way it smells too! I find the coconana fragrance balances out the sunscreen smell well and two years later, I'm still sniffing my arms just to enjoy the fragrance! I can't recommend these enough to those who struggle to find body sunscreens that aren't heavy and sticky, don't smell unpleasant or won't irritate the skin. If your skin has little issue with fragrance and avobenzone, these are miracle lotions. Also, the lotions absorb down just as smooth and lightweight as rubbing in the spray version, if not better. Both lotion and spray formulas reapply nicely and interchangeably without feeling like you have a thick film on your body. This, the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion and Coola spf body sprays are my favorites for body. However, this one is the cheapest and possibly my favorite of all my staples for sun protection.

I finally decided to try this sunscreen out of curiosity and I'm glad I did. I ride bikes and run frequently so I'm always in the sun and I usually need quite a bit of sunscreen. Being of East Asian heritage, my skin type doesn't really tan so I just burn and go back to looking anemic. What I really like about this sunscreen is that it doesn't leave a white cast. Many other sunscreens I've tried usually leave a white cast and when you pair that with my baseline anemic-looking skin, I look like I died hours ago. My favorite sunscreen! Last year

My favorite sunscreen! Last year I could not find this in this bottle which I find so convenient to throw in my bag and not worry about spilling or puncturing! As soon as I saw it was available this spring I knew I had to order! This sunscreen glides on so nicely that I don’t mind putting it on my skin! My kids don’t complain about the feel since we found this brand, and I’m sold for life! The coverage is incredible! And we love that the ingredients are clean!

The Best of the Best

I moved to the Space Coast of Florida 5 years ago. I’ve tried NUMEROUS sunscreens since moving here. The sun is so much more intense than anywhere else in the U.S. Sun Bum SPF 70 is my go-to. I was hesitant for a while to buy it because it was more expensive than most sunscreens, but it is worth every penny. I am very fair (skin, eyes, hair) and burn easily. After hours at the beach or a day at the water park in the summer, the only places that are sunburnt are the obvious places that I missed while applying the sunscreen. The smell and the texture are also fantastic, and it doesn’t leave you looking like a ghost.
