We cannot get the audio to work at all and the cable hanging loose at the back of the camera will rust if not covered - we do not know what it is for. We need the audio to work.

Good camera system with easy to use functions and easy to set up.
Its all in the cameras. I have previously purchased the NVR8-8580 with the NHD-887MSFB cameras (they have two LEDs that look like eyes) but this unit has the NHD-875WLB cameras which I discovered DON'T do the Analytic functions -the analytic functions include perimeter entry, line crossing, facial recognition etc. So this combo does NOT have these functions. I was very disappointed as it is very hard to see this difference in cameras even on the Swann website. Beware. Swann -please make it easy to see which functions you exclude with which cameras.
Bought October 2021, some functions were unlocked i.e. I could change the brightness of the light, other functions were locked. Some functions appeared different for the same model cameras i.e. defog enabled on one camera but not on the same model of another. November a new firmware version was release and I expected it to fix the issues. Frustratingly, now all functions are disabled, I can not change any image controls (flip, colour etc.) I can not change any record functions (bitrate, fps, resolution etc.), motion sensitivity is disable, and thus the unit is rendered unusable. Excellent system the NVR is easy to use and the 4K cameras are clear in day or night.
So far so good. Installed these ourselves over the weekend. There’s a bit of “working it out yourself” when it comes to the settings you might want for each individual camera, but once you’ve worked that out, it’s pretty smooth sailing.
