Was fitted at a golf shop about 80 minutes away from my home. Tried many others brands during fitting and P770 won out in both looks and performance for me. I ordered 4-PW and also 52 and 56 mg3 wedges in the shafts and grips I wanted. They came in within about a weeks time. I was thrilled to pick them up today making the 2.5 hour round trip to get them. Upon returning home and opening them up and removing the plastic from the heads of the clubs I found the PW to have what I describe as an unacceptable cosmetic defect in the form of staining on the face. I cleaned thoroughly to ensure it isn’t residue from packing or manufacturing. Talk about disappointing. I was due for an iron refresh after bagging the TM Tour Preferred MC irons since about 2014 and despite my mind telling me I had no business buying blades, my heart said otherwise. The P7 MB's are probably the best looking iron I've ever seen in my 25+ years of playing golf and I had to have them. I compromised and went with 3-5 P7 MC and 6-P P7 MB and could not be happier.These irons are beautiful in the bag, excellent at address, and the feel and feedback is absolute perfection. My shot dispersion is much tighter than it was with my last set, and my confidence level is through the roof even when hitting an approach with my 3 iron. I've been slowly putting together the ultimate set of Taylor Made irons. Last month I traded in my P790's that I've had for the last year for a set of P7MC's 5-PW. I didn't want to get the long irons until I settled on building my collection of metal woods. Played a few rounds with the P7MC's and I absolutely love them. Even with miss-hits they are surprisingly forgiving. Anyway, so after I got my woods sorted out I ordered a P770 4-iron. OMG, this club is fantastic! I have yet to hit it bad, seriously. While the P790's are great irons I am of the opinion that the P770 is just a better club. They feel better when hit pure, and I don't notice that mushy feeling that I would get with the P790 Speedfoam insert. I have the 3 and 4 irons as part of a mixed set of p7mb and p7mc. The 3 and 4 iron launch the ball with impressive ball speed and help get the ball up in the air quickly with a strong flight. It’s definitely given me 5-10 additional yards with substantially more forgiveness than my previous set of hogan apex pc blades which are much less forgiving. I can still flight the ball lower if needed but these irons have definitely given me more confidence for carrying trouble with less loss of distance. They feel great with the speed pocket and foam injection. There is significantly more offset compared to my P7mc and previous irons so that has taken a bit of getting used to for me but the performance is undeniable. Fitted into P770s at The Kingdom. 1 degree upright, half a degree strong with Aerotech i95. Really forgiving and workable. I've heard people complain about clickiness, but I only get that on off center shots. Compared to traditional clubs, I'll take clicky feedback over the stinging sort. Center of the club is not quite buttery, but still a satisfying solid thwack. Ball flight is high. If I saw that flight with another set of clubs, I would have thoughts the ball was landing ten yards short. But somehow they are higher and longer. Now that the 2023 P770s have been released, I can firmly say that I am keeping my 2020s. Clean minimalist design. Very little bag chatter, or wear showing through on these clubs after 18 months and probably 60-70rounds. Very impressed!
Comparing these to my previous irons. Mizuno mp18 blades with kbs 110 shafts. These came with 105 vvs shafts. I went with the 105 shafts to stick greens with my 3&4i. It flights the ball well but I lost about a 1/2-1 club distance with this set up. I can stick greens with the long irons but my pw-7i it just seems to balloon. Seems a combinations of the irons and shafts. Weird. Don’t like the distance loss. Feel of the irons are good. Not great. They are a little forgiven, Taylormade gets credit there. Would recommend cavity back players use them. Light weight. Forgiveness is there. Aesthetically Appealing. Will play like you cavity backs without the bulk. FYI. My bad days are 80-82 strokes. 9i is my 155yrds club.
I went from playing Ping i10s for 12 years to Calloway APEX 21s last year. Hated them. Huge head with no feel or distance consistency. After a year and a lot of money, I gave up and went to Club Champion to get fitted. The fitter recommended P790's which I liked, but still wanted a small head and more feel like I had with my smaller i10's. These P770's are perfect. Smaller head, but still a large forgiving sweet spot. Ball comes off hot, but higher flight with spin. Stops much faster than the APEX 21's. This is a perfect iron for someone who can consistently strike an iron, but not good enough for blades. Very workable too. And they look amazing and instill confidence.

If you cannot consistently strike the ball in the center of the clubface, you’re going to have a long day. If you’re a good ball striker you will be rewarded endlessly. Ordered these irons in 8-pw as part of combo set with P7mc in 4-7 irons and 3-4 p770. I switch out the 4 irons depending on the course and how the swing is feeling.I love the thin top line and minimal offset of the blades and the perfect launch angle for shots the penetrate the wind but maintain great stopping power. My previous set was a set of hogan apex pc irons which had a thinner sole and would tend to dig on soft turf. I love the sole design of the p7mb and P7mc. They allow the club to glide through the turf but have a nice sharp leading edge to give me confidence on tight lies. The feel is sweet and forgiveness is minimal but I prefer workability over forgiveness for my game. If you’re a blade lover give these a try especially if you’re looking for a mixed set
