Was fitted at a golf shop about 80 minutes away from my home. Tried many others brands during fitting and P770 won out in both looks and performance for me. I ordered 4-PW and also 52 and 56 mg3 wedges in the shafts and grips I wanted. They came in within about a weeks time. I was thrilled to pick them up today making the 2.5 hour round trip to get them. Upon returning home and opening them up and removing the plastic from the heads of the clubs I found the PW to have what I describe as an unacceptable cosmetic defect in the form of staining on the face. I cleaned thoroughly to ensure it isn’t residue from packing or manufacturing. Talk about disappointing. I have the 3 and 4 irons as part of a mixed set of p7mb and p7mc. The 3 and 4 iron launch the ball with impressive ball speed and help get the ball up in the air quickly with a strong flight. It’s definitely given me 5-10 additional yards with substantially more forgiveness than my previous set of hogan apex pc blades which are much less forgiving. I can still flight the ball lower if needed but these irons have definitely given me more confidence for carrying trouble with less loss of distance. They feel great with the speed pocket and foam injection. There is significantly more offset compared to my P7mc and previous irons so that has taken a bit of getting used to for me but the performance is undeniable. Easy to hit with great stopping power for an iron this long. They look stunning behind the ball (and in the bag). I was a little worried how it would behave in flyer conditions but they stayed really predictable with decent spin numbers. All in all a great club to be precise and long with.They felt a bit heavy though, swing weight turned out the be D9. But in a way that could be expected at +1 inch, some other brands seem to be able to solve this with lighter heads so I assumed TM would do that too. I solved it with a bit of hosel drilling, slightly shorter hosels and lighter shafts. Perfect clubs now, if bought standard length they will be perfect for most handicaps!
Fitted into P770s at The Kingdom. 1 degree upright, half a degree strong with Aerotech i95. Really forgiving and workable. I've heard people complain about clickiness, but I only get that on off center shots. Compared to traditional clubs, I'll take clicky feedback over the stinging sort. Center of the club is not quite buttery, but still a satisfying solid thwack. Ball flight is high. If I saw that flight with another set of clubs, I would have thoughts the ball was landing ten yards short. But somehow they are higher and longer. Now that the 2023 P770s have been released, I can firmly say that I am keeping my 2020s. Clean minimalist design. Very little bag chatter, or wear showing through on these clubs after 18 months and probably 60-70rounds. Very impressed!

I'm a 2-4 handicap and when I heard you get the punch of the P-790 and the work ability of a blade I could not be anymore excited to own a set for myself. I purchased the clubs with intent of keeping them for quite some time. I had my first range session/round and could not believe how wrong I was. The irons will not give you anymore distance then what's probably in your bag already. The workability of shot making is pretty good to some extent considering they are not blades. What got to me the most is how the ball feels coming of the face of the club. If you like hitting concrete with a Peace of metal these are the clubs for you! Comparing these to my previous irons. Mizuno mp18 blades with kbs 110 shafts. These came with 105 vvs shafts. I went with the 105 shafts to stick greens with my 3&4i. It flights the ball well but I lost about a 1/2-1 club distance with this set up. I can stick greens with the long irons but my pw-7i it just seems to balloon. Seems a combinations of the irons and shafts. Weird. Don’t like the distance loss. Feel of the irons are good. Not great. They are a little forgiven, Taylormade gets credit there. However when I flush the clubs the speed foam / hollow head sort of takes away from the feel. Feels empty almost. Hard to explain. For those looking for impressive looking irons with some forgiveness that want to show them off like they better than cavity backs but not blades, these are it. I personally would consider these a hybrid between muscle backs and cavity backs but not associating it with blades. These are a nice looking compact hybrid. Would recommend cavity back players use them. Light weight. Forgiveness is there. Aesthetically Appealing. Will play like you cavity backs without the bulk. FYI. My bad days are 80-82 strokes. 9i is my 155yrds club.
I went from playing Ping i10s for 12 years to Calloway APEX 21s last year. Hated them. Huge head with no feel or distance consistency. After a year and a lot of money, I gave up and went to Club Champion to get fitted. The fitter recommended P790's which I liked, but still wanted a small head and more feel like I had with my smaller i10's. These P770's are perfect. Smaller head, but still a large forgiving sweet spot. Ball comes off hot, but higher flight with spin. Stops much faster than the APEX 21's. This is a perfect iron for someone who can consistently strike an iron, but not good enough for blades. Very workable too. And they look amazing and instill confidence.
First off, I ordered mine 4-PW, with TT DG X-100 (130g) shafts, standard length, loft, & lie angle. I had the swing weight measured and as expected the 4-9 irons are D3, PW is D4. My decision to go with a 130g shaft (vs 120g stock shaft) added 1 swing weight. They look amazing and feel great.I have now played 10+ rounds with my P770’s. I wanted an opportunity to hit all the shots before writing my review. My standard shot is higher, longer, with less spin. Good ball striking is rewarded with great feel and sound. Miss-hits no so much. It took me several rounds to see the forgiveness of these irons is in the final result, not the feel.
