The picture when using 4K is unbelievable, and regular HD content is extremely good. The Google TV that it uses was a very nice surprise over my previous Samsung. I used HDMI1 for the PlayStation 5, HDMI2 for my computer and HDMI4/eARC for my sound bar. The Samsung soundbar worked flawlessly. The speakers on the 98" QM8 are VERY loud, but bass and separating voices from background noise are it's weak points. The HDMI1 for the PlayStation is highly configurable and those setting stays with that input. I was very grateful for the PC mode that is on HDMI2, because this TV is VERY bright. When watching TV I use either Movie mode or Sport mode. Thankfully the remote has a button to instantly change between the modes and brightness. Overall I could not be happier with my ... This mini-LED is a huge upgrade from my previous Samsung LED TV. You can truly tell the difference in picture quality and dark colors when comparing a regular LED TV to this Mini-LED TV. This is more so when you run 8k content from YouTube. The colors on 8k are truly life like. The attached pictires don’t do this TV justice. The first movie I watched was Dune II (again) and this was an enjoyable movie theater like experience. Sound from TV is good, but nothing to brag about. For this TV and for a truly immersive experience, you will definitely need a surround sounds system. TV features are also easy to navigate. I have never used a google platform on a TV but I had no problem setting up and installing all of my preferred apps. As far as blooming, indid not notice ... Initially when the TV was being set up I saw some but this was probably because this was the “settings” screen. I did nor see any when actually watching the TV. There was also no puffering or freezing of images while running demanding movies. I dont do gaming so I would not about pprocessing speed in this area. The TV was mounted on one of my walls by the Geek Squad and they did an amazing job. TV looks great and the work was done clean ansd professionally. You always hear about an “immersive experience” with these large TVs but you don’t really realize how much until you sit in front of it. This is as close as you can probably get to going out to the movie theater. Yes, it is pricey, but I think that rhis TV is worth the price due to the technology it brings to the table. I have always owned Samsung TVs and this if my very first TCL product. Only time will tell about quality, reliability, snd durability. Thus far, I am happy with this TV.

If you have a larger room I'll leave that up toUp to you I have a 14 / 14 room and it's plenty of sound for us and very realistic. As I said, cannot recommend this TV enough and I will also say buy from Best Buy as this TV was one price when I bought it and it's come down and they have matched the price every time could not be any happier.

I had high hopes for this TV after research and many tv reviewers giving this such high praise, but unfortunately I was very disappointed in the picture quality. For having so much brightness it was very dull and lifeless. The video settings also don’t help because if its dolby vision content you’re stuck with using those settings which often dull the tv even more. Motion and upscaleing were the worst I’ve seen in a higher end tv. (I know this is a tcl but this is one of their highest end units) Even Waves on an ocean scene skipped across the screen. Lastly the dirty screen effect was more than just that I could see visible lines up and across the screen that were just permanently there. If was extremely noticeable in panning scenes. This tvs saving grace was its on board sound. I hope other tv makers learn from this because the built in onkyo surround system with atmos was impressive. It was just as good as having a really good soundbar. Its possible I got a bad panel but I didnt want to take the chance of getting another one so this was returned.
I purchased the LG WM4000HBA electric washing machine from Best Buy on September 8th, and it was delivered promptly on September 11th. As a long time OLED user, I'm very impressed with the TLC QM8 85 inch. I've only had it for a few days, so take this with a grain of salt. So far I have almost zero complaints about this TV. The blacks have been spot on with no blooming (so far) which I'm very sensitive to since I watch movies and tv with Subtitles turned on.TV can be super bright, but not as overpowering as I thought it would be. Motion is mostly fine, although I'm still trying to get it set just right. My main complaint with the TV is the processor could be "better" as I'm not sure it's doing a good job upgrading low bitrate content, but I need to watch more to see. I generally take the "garbage in, garbage out" point of view and don't put much stock in "4k Upscaling". I think it's generally ... I generally take the "garbage in, garbage out" point of view and don't put much stock in "4k Upscaling". I think it's generally just a marketing buzz word. 1080p and 4k Content looks perfectly fine. Not a "Wow" but acceptable and solid. The other issue with this TV is the lack of customization in the Picture. Other TVs I've owned namely LG and Sony have a lot more settings for getting the exact PQ that I want. With this TV it just feels pretty limited. I did not test the sound as I use a Soundbar.I know everyone is hyping up the Bravia 9 but I can gaurantee there's almost no Universe where the Sony Bravia 9 is going to be $2,300 "Better" than this TCL QM8 85 inch. Nor would a 83 Inch G4 be $4,000 "better." These TV Manufacturers are getting out of control with their pricing. Especially since all this TV Tech is more than 6 yrs old (QD OLED being 3 yrs old). TVs should be getting cheaper, not more expensive. At it's current sale price of $2,499 this TV is a steal and TCL should be applauded for giving customers a lot of bang and quality for your buck. One thing I hate about TCL is - change your naming convention! Calling your top of the line TV "QM8" for 4 years straight is stupid. And when I was researching this TV, I thought it was last year's model with a different photo. It's not that hard to change the number each year.
This is a great TV depending on your primary use. For games, it's incredible. Very low latency, picture and colors are fantastic, and two HDMI 2.1 ports (neither set aside for eARC) makes this a winner. For movies it is quite good, aside from it's handling of motion. I came from a Sony X90J, so the change was drastic. While that TV (and most Sony TVs) handled motion very, very well, the colors and brightness were lacking. This TV excels as both. Fair warning, if you are watching something at full brightness and there are flashes from a camera or similar, it will make you see spots, it's that bright. As with the motion handling in movies, it is also not great with sports. I got this TV in time for the Stanley Cup finals, and it wasn't the best. Watchable for sure, but I wouldn't buy this TV if your primary use will be watching fast sports that are broadcast at a lower resolution. The settings can be adjusted so it is a little better from the default settings, but it is still not fantastic. The TV's speakers are actually quite good, but I did not use them for that long prior to hooking up my soundbar. In the short time I did use them, I found them to be the best TV speakers I have ever come across.Overall I really do like this TV, but my use is about 60% games, 25% movies, and 15% sports. If future firmware updates improve the motion handling, this TV would be 5 out of 5 and an easy recommendation.
I was in search of a 65 inch TV right around the $1,000 price point(with wiggle room) for my living room. Living room has windows and gets bright during the day, but I have shades I can always lower. I spent a lot of time heavily researching TV’s from various brands, various retailers, and went to several stores to see these TV’s in person and compare. I’m big on picture quality, so it was important to me to get the best bang for my buck. I considered Sony, LG, Samsung, TCL, and Hisense TV’s. I have an LG G3 in my basement and prefer OLED picture quality, but budget was making that a challenge for a 65 inch TV. I have an LG G3 in my basement and prefer OLED picture quality, but budget was making that a challenge for a 65 inch TV. After comparing in store and several Youtube video comparisons, I opted to try out the 65 inch TCL QM851G because the blacks looked nearly OLED like with excellent contrast and colors.I don’t know what the quality of TCL is as this is my first TCL TV, so I did add the 5 year Best Buy protection plan since the TV only comes with a 1 year manufacturers warranty.Ordering/Pickup: Best Buy was great. I ordered online pickup and it was ready for pickup in less than an hour. Went inside and showed my receipt and they had two employees load the TV up for me.Setup: Unboxing the tv, putting the stand on, and placing the TV was all very smooth and easy. Turn the TV on, connect to wifi, log into your Google account, firmware update installed, and several apps I use were already on the home screen ready for me to use. Linked to my phone and iPad very easily.TV OS: The QM851G has Google as the operating system. Very easy to navigate and I haven’t experienced any lags to this point. Nice and fast. Quick to learn.Picture Quality: Picture quality out of the box is excellent. Very bright and vibrant colors that really pop. Probably the brightest TV I’ve ever seen. Blacks are almost OLED like with no black crushing which was a concern of mine prior to purchasing. The black bars while watching movies are actually black and not grey like a lot of other non-OLED TV’s. Stunning contrast that will have you thinking you may be watching an OLED TV. Motion settings needed to get tweaked for fast moving scenes, but once you dial in the picture settings, this TV’s picture really stands out! TCL has really made strides in catching up to Sony for motion processing and they’ve narrowed the gap.Bright room: The brightness of this TV really aids in a bright room setting. Reflections are minimal and really only show on the black bars surrounding the TV when it’s very sunny out. Even dark movies during the day were fine for me to watch.Dark room: You’ll probably want to turn the brightness down in a dark room setting, but this TV is stunning. I’ve seen some details in dark movies I’ve never seen before when watching the same movie in the past. Very happy with the dark room performance of the TCL.I’ve included pictures of both settings for you to see how the TV looks with various content.Sound quality: This TV has impressive sound. TV speakers are always a major step down from a soundbar or sound system, and I think this TV would benefit from at least having a soundbar. But the sound quality is very impressive for a TV. The best I’ve heard from TV speakers. Decent bass and tremble. Depth to the sounds. I tried a Dolby Atmos test video and even though I don’t have surround speakers, when the volume is up around 65-70, I could get some surround sound effects from the speakers. Soundbar or sound system is best if you’re seeking that cinematic experience. If not, the TV speakers will be more than enough for you, so it saves you money from purchasing a sound system.I’ve had this TV for almost a full week now and I’ve watched several of my go-to movies to compare with my LG G3 OLED in the basement and I’m seriously impressed. Batman vs Superman and The Batman are two dark movie tests that passed with flying colors. The Avenger movies and the Rings of Power series all looked amazing on this TV. I don’t feel the need to go in the basement to watch on my OLED TV like I previously felt with having this TV available and now allows me to decide where to watch based on the room atmosphere I prefer. Now for the negatives/con’s that I ran into. Upscaling of low-quality content is not always the best. I watched the first X-Men movie which was made in 2000 and the picture quality seemed rather soft and fuzzy. I pulled up the same movie on my OLED and it looked significantly better. The TV has randomly shut off in the middle of playing a movie twice over the last week and I ran into one instance I couldn’t get content to play for me. I could browse apps an select a movie, but the initial ad screen would pop up and never play no matter what I did. Unplugging the TV and plugging back in resolved this issue and it hasn’t happened since.I’m curious how sports will look when the NFL season starts. The broadcast quality of regular TV isn’t very good, so it will be interesting to see how the TCL handles live TV broadcasts. The YouTube videos I watched of games looked decent, but YouTube quality can sometimes be lacking of live content.I’m not a gamer, so I cannot speak to gaming, but based on my reading, this was a highly recommended TV for gamers.Overall thoughts: I’m blown away by the quality of TV you get at this price point. If you want an OLED TV at the same size, you’re paying nearly double for it. The QM851G is the flagship TV for TCL and it’s a great TV. Very bright, deep blacks, awesome contrast, and the picture just pops off the TV. If you want a TV very close in quality and in some aspects, even surpassing Sony, LG, and Samsung, this would be the TV to look at. Looking at price points and TV sizes, you’ll save a lot of money going with TCL. I highly recommend this TV.
Before I go right in and tell you about the TCL Television, let’s talk about this remote control. The remote is very slender, and feels good in the hand. It is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes with little lines engraved as well. On the very first night, I noticed that once you move it, the keys illuminates. There are six main keys at the bottom that includes Netflix, YouTube, AppleTV, Prime Video, TCL tv, and Pluto TV. Yes, I love that fact, because I have all of those subscriptions. Way to go TCL in the design of the remote. Now drum roll please 🥁The moment of truth!!! Before I reviewed this TV, I changed the display to Sports and Movie mode. This television is absolutely bright as well. While watching TV shows, Movies, and Sports I am so drawn in on the show, than ever before. The Blacks hue is black, it’s like each led mini pixel is cut off, to show the truest black. The White is bright, lines, curves, are very clear. Also there is not a delay in the motion. This TV is truly at the top of its class. One more thing to add, when you are in YouTube and an Ad pops up, a QR code pops up on the TV for you to look more into the Advertisement. (That is a great feature to add)Now aesthetically this television looks amazing! The base of this television was very easy to attach . And One small detail I absolutely adore, is the premium QD – mini LED tag at the top right of the television. It makes it look like this television is made with luxury productsSome of the features this television has is three HDMI ports (144Hz, 120Hz, and 60Hz), hands-free voice control, ethernet connection, antenna cable in, headphone out, optical digital audio out, Dolby Vision, IQ, Bluetooth, DTS X, and last, but not least IMAX DTS. (Yes my mind is blown away too)The sound quality is epic as well. It has Dolby Atmos built into the speakers.Would I recommend this television: Absolutely Yes!!!

The TV comes with Android 12 TV OS, feature-rich operating system from google, App-store, hands-free voice control, chromcast+airplay casting, dedicated game-master and gamebar that shows current refresh rate the game is running (120hz for PS5/Xbox X, 244 for PC with dedicated graphic card), all supported on different port of HDMI. Simply amazin.5. Supported Ports, a lot of ports, 4x HDMI, 2x USB3 and one USB3 on the right side, optical, aux, and more.6. This TV also supports ATSC 3.0, the latest antenna channel standard. Simply use any indoor/outdoor antenna (even the older ones for ATSC1.0) receiver in most US cities, will find ATSC3.0 signals. Best Antenna intergration in term of stabilities, menu design etc, of any TV.Cons:1. Being 85-Inch means has to plan out transportation, and TV placement.2. Mounting is no easy task, suggest hiring professionals to do the mounting properly.3. Wish it has USB C port, but that hasn't been the norm of smart TV yet, no biggy really.Final thoughts: This model is great for Movies, Shows, Sports and Gaming. Highly recommended to others whos looking for big screen TV!
