This isn't "purging" or sensitivity. There are other ingredients in this cleanser within the delivery system that have to be creating problems in some people. I do use and have a history of using glycolic peels and salicylic peels for regular exfoliation and use them only when necessary. This product should be avoided if you are someone that is expecting this to work gently and to be non-comedegenic. I really think the "purging" is more marketing than anything. Any cleanser that you use messes with the PH and generally affects your skin in some way. If you're wanting purging or desire an active breakout for months, use this, or explore Accutane, or look at some Rxs for a retinoid from a Dermatologist. There are better cleansers available.

Despite consistent use, I didn't see any major difference in the appearance or frequency of my breakouts. While I acknowledge that individual results may vary, I was hoping for a more noticeable improvement in my acne concerns. In conclusion, I believe the Inlet List Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser from Sephora is a solid choice for those seeking an affordable cleanser that lathers nicely and doesn't strip the skin. It effectively removes impurities and leaves the skin feeling refreshed. However, if you're specifically looking for a product that significantly reduces acne, this cleanser may not be the best option. Keep in mind that everyone's skin is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another.I received a gift card for my honest review.

Good for blemish prone skin but go slow

I’m in my 40s and have combination skin. I suffer from acne, blackheads and whiteheads and have done since I was a teenager. I have never felt confident about my skin, shying away from people and NEVER going out without foundation on. As I’ve got older, companies have realised that it’s not just teenagers who suffer from spots and (thankfully) more and more new ranges have come out to help combat this problem. After reading good things, I decided to try The INKEY List range of products. I bought the lot (they were on offer). I started with the Salicylic Acid Cleanser. I started by using it once per day, in the morning, followed by the Niacinamide serum from The Ordinary, Avene Blemish Moisturiser and The Ordinary Moisturising Factors. My skin reacted well to it, looking clearer. Especially the blackheads on my nose and chin. It’s easy to use, just massage it on and rinse off. My skin did feel very tight and itchy after use, so I only use it a couple of times a week. I don’t want to dry out my skin and in turn cause more problems! I like it and will continue to use it.

Just Not the Right Product for My Skin
5 June 2023

I have normal to dry, sensitive skin. I'd been hearing a lot about how salicylic acid was a great ingredient for minimizing blackheads and excess sebum production, so I decided to give this product (from a highly recommend brand) a chance. This may just be a case of don't purchase something that is popular because it was not the right fit for my skin. I do have blackheads and a sometimes oily nose area, so I decided to spot-treat and target my t-zone specifically. I would advise sensitive skin people to only start with an exfoliating product once during the week, as I believe part of my issue with this product was over-exfoliation (and I started this in my routine only twice a week). My skin just didn't tolerate salicylic acid, or perhaps another one of the ingredients in this product, as it would turn slightly pink and irritated. Originally, I thought the little bumps and pimples that showed up on my face were a result of purging. I believe now that it was a clear sign of an allergic reaction and damaged skin barrier. So this product may be right for a different skin type, probably for acne prone and/or oily individuals.

I cannot say enough about this routine. While I was hesitant about incorporating salicylic acid into my routine, this set really did the trick for my blackheads and small pimples. I'm obsessed with the HA and omega moisturizer in particular. I felt a difference in my skin immediately after use as the formulas are lightweight and quickly absorbed. I have combination skin, and the use of the cleanser, HA and moisturizer somehow leave my skin looking clear, hydrated and dewy-no dry or oily patches, just glowing skin!I will mention that the niacinamide really didn't work for me. Now I get far less pimples and breakouts, if they do appear they are far less aggressive and surface better, while in the past they got trapped underneath the skin, itching, not surfacing spontaneoulsy (and often I ended up tormenting them and damaging my skin to "eliminate" them). I just repurchased a BUNCH of them, one to gift to my sis that has always struggled with a far worse case of acne than mune since puberty and still does.

Recovering from this cleanser

I've been trying to find ways to get rid of these small bumps on my forehead, and I would consider myself an oily skin type, with some dry areas here and there. I watched many reviews on this SA cleanser, saying how it cleared people's skin and reduced their oiliness. I wouldn't say that I have acne prone skin, but I do get breakouts, once in a while, and most of the time, the pimples appear on my forehead. Apparently when it comes to using actives, your skin will "purge" due to it "getting used" to the new product. I purchased this cleanser, with the omega water cream to amp up my skincare routine. I got these products in March of 2022. After the first 2 weeks of using both products, my skin started to "purge," or so I thought. I got these products in March of 2022. After the first 2 weeks of using both products, my skin started to "purge," or so I thought. I didn't think too much of it since, people said to "trust the process." I started to breakout in areas where I usually don't breakout, like my cheeks, chin, and temples. Purging is only supposed to happen in areas where you DO usually breakout, and this kept going on for about a month. My skin just got worse, this patch of acne I have on the side of my face won't go away. It has been almost 6 months since I have stopped using it, and I am still going through the process of fixing my skin. I've spent more money on my skincare then I ever have, all because I used this cleanser. I tried going back to the skincare routine I had, before the one that had this cleanser, but even going back to the previous skincare routine, still hasn't given me back my old skin. I don't have a dermatologist, and cannot afford to have those visits, so I'm trying my best to help improve my skin. I think their way of advertising the "purging" is a way to cover up the fact that it makes you breakout, so people who DO purchase it, think the breakout is just "purging." I'm a bit timid about purchasing any products from them in the future. All in all, please do your research on skincare products and make sure to know the difference between "purging" and "irritation." (photo is late July 2022, 5 months after I stopped using cleanser and moisturizer)

Unbeatable For The Price! Perfect for dry skin and acne

I have incredibly dry, acne-prone skin and eczema, and I was having trouble finding a cleanser that didn't leave my skin pulling or feeling flakey. A little goes a long way- I used to have lots of tiny bumps under the skin from clogged pores, but they were almost entirely gone after just a month or so. Now, after a year, my skin has less texture and bumps, and it has a natural glow that I receive compliments on. I'm sure this would be great for sensitive skin, or if you're a young teen starting to get acne.

However, the amount of acne that appeared on my forehead and chin was shocking. Even changing out my pillow covers frequently (which I do already and use a fragrance free detergent). I had been using The Ordinary products for years and wanted to give these a try since I heard amazing things and the packaging travels well for the amount of traveling I was doing recently for work. I don't like to waste products so since I am almost done, I will finish them. I'm glad I did try them out though, but I will not be purchasing this brand again unfortunately, Bummer, but sometimes it takes trial and error.
