I was told by a lady at the liquor store this is a good dark spiced rum. I took a sip when I got it home and just about hurled. My brother and a friend tried it and both gagged. We tried it in a dark and stormy and it was undrinkable. I poured the rest of the half gallon down the drain immediately and went back to the liquor store to buy real dark rum. I told the lady how bad it was and she said she was sorry, that she had not had it but that it was popular, and I was stupefied. Do not buy this rum. It is THE WORST LIQUOR I HAVE EVER TASTED.

I saw this little sample-sized bottle at a local liquor store for a dollar and couldn't pass it up because it the bottle was so cute! I was pleasantly surprised to taste it and find the best rum, and one of the best liquors, I have ever tried! I drank it straight, which I usually do with liquors, sometimes I find mixing liquors with other things causes too much conflicting flavors. I'm not generally a big alcohol drinker, but I genuinely loved this one. It is spicy, smooth, sweet, and has a nice but not overwhelming burn. It has very nice notes of vanilla as well. If I were to mix it with anything, my first choice would be eggnog, the warm spicy flavors mixed with sweet creamy eggnog would probably really improve my eggnog enjoyment! I usually drink a lighter rum. And I mix it with pineapple juice or coconut water etc. This was the first time trying a spiced rum. I definitely enjoyed it. I will eventually look into recipes for entertaining with it. But I tried it over the rocks. And still enjoyed it. I do love the packaging as well. And there being options and sizes. If you’re looking for a dark spiced rum I would definitely recommend this

I tried KRAKEN Black Spiced Rum 10 years ago and it has been my favorite since my 1st sip. It is 94 Proof, so you definitely taste the alcohol content, along with it's Strong, Rich, Smooth, and Spicy sweetness. It's important to me that KRAKEN is blended with NATURAL flavors, not the nasty artificial stuff. I have experienced that KRAKEN mixes the best with Coke or Coke Zero. Plus, KRAKEN has the coolest bottle and label out there! If you haven't tried KRAKEN yet, do so! I'm sure it will also become your favorite Spiced Rum!

Having never tried Kraken rum, or even been a fan of black spiced rum in the first place, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this. It can easily be drunk straight, or mixed in some of your favorite drinks. It’s spicy, sweet, smooth, and the burn isn’t overwhelming. I also noticed some notes of vanilla while drinking it, along with cinnamon and the usual notes black spice has. Next time I’m making a drink that requires black spice rum, I’m going to be releasing the Kraken.

Kraken.Spiced Rum is very dark in color with a light consistency. We had it on the rocks after dinner. After my initial sip I decided that it would taste similar to kalua if i added cream. I also added natural coconut. It was absolutely delicious. This spiced rum is unlike others since it is not strupy or sticky like others nor is it overly sweet. I found it to be a tasty after dinner drink that can be consumed anytime or added to a pina colada. It has a high alcohol content so you won't need to drink much.

Beware the Kraken Black

And maybe I’m making too much of this, because there are intentionally placed worms in tequila bottles. But as I was preparing to take (another) sip of my most recent K&C, I found a stowaway floating next to the ice cubes. It’s wings were gone, but not its legs—it was very obviously a fly. Now, its -20 where I live, and flies are nowhere to be found, except, I guess, in my drink! I poured out the glass AND the bottle, because protein or no, that’s not what I want to find in my cocktail. Now I am drinking lighter rums so I can see through the bottle to make sure nothing lurks inside. Excellent flavor, but cheap cap.

As a result, the drink tastes fantastic rather than 3.5. It's pretty sweet, though, so not everyone will like it. This rum tastes as though sugar has been added. The bottle's inexpensive cap is where I have the most issues. Even worse, my cap won't screw on. And if the cap touches it, it will fall off. Just a cheap cap, really. Amazing bottle, though, and the juice is excellent!

It is the Kraken that is truly fantastic black spiced rum

This black spiced rum is excellent. It tastes like chocolate, black licorice, vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon. Excellent both straight up and on the rocks. I also tried the Captain Morgan black spiced rum, and the flavor profiles of the two are remarkably comparable. Yet because the Kraken is a few dollars less expensive than the Captain Morgan black, it triumphs in the contest. You won't be disappointed if you try the Kraken black spiced rum the next time you're in the mood for rum!
