Have had this coat for just over a month, and it's amazing. I was deciding between this parka and one from Eddie Bauer to replace my Arcteryx parka that I'd had for 6+ years after the zipper broke. I chose this one over Eddie Bauer bc it was more stylish and had more functional pockets. I love this parka, and it is SO much better than my old Arcteryx jacket at a way lower price. I am a total baby when it comes to the cold, and this parka has kept me completely comfortable through this Boston winter so far, even on windy, wet days with temps in the single digits without needing extra layers underneath. I hadn't normally used jacket hoods often, but I've been using this one constantly on 20-something degree and under days. It stays in place super well and totally ... It stays in place super well and totally seals out the wind and cold air, I just get in my cozy cocoon and genuinely barely feel the cold at all. I didn't even know it was possible to be this comfy in the winter. The coat has a looser fit with a bit of a boxy shape, but I find it overall stylish for a functional parka. It's a little bit bulky when sitting down, but otherwise the coat doesn't feel restrictive or too heavy. Zipper is easy. I love the fleece lined pockets and the thumb loop on the sleeves. I get painful vasospasm in my finger tips in the cold so I always keep my hands in my coat pockets, and this is the first coat I've ever owned that has completely prevented it from happening! I never write reviews but this parka is a game changer. Get it, you won't regret it!

I've have been searching for the perfect winter coat for years. The last couple years I tried the arctic parka but ended up returning it because I didn't like the Velcro closures and the coat was very stiff and heavy. I was so happy to see the changes they made this year with the snap closures and the coat is soft and flexible but still warm! The colors are beautiful too! I got the fiery red and it's a bright poppy red. The coat is long and warm but not at all heavy. I am comfortable in a tshirt in 0 and below windy Chicago weather. It also works in 30 and 40 degree weather. I've worn it in the rain and it is completely waterproof. I love the hood. It's not heavy but still completely covers my head. I absolutely love it and will look forward to wearing it year after year.

I had a Canada Goose parka for many years which I loved partly due to waterproof material and attention to detail. I had to replace it but found that new canada goose construction quality had gone down. North Face to the rescue. I have other coats from spring from TNF. But i was looking for something that will hold against cold Boston weather and the piercing wind. This coat is on par with any Canada Goose purchase these days!- it's long enough, very good material, thoughtful details, very warm, and at least 1/3 the price. Im 5'3 and 128 and got a S, the sleeves feel slightly big and there is plenty of room for bulky sweater underneath. I'm going to keep the small because I love the length and the extra space to layer- although, I'm not sure I will need to routinely ... I'm absolutely obsessed with the fawn grey color--I really wanted a more cheerful winter coat, and this was perfect. The coat itself is great--it's very warm and well made. Solid material--some complain about the materials of the zipper, but trust me, these are more durable than those flimsy fashionable ones. I ended up going with the premium version of this coat for only two reason: 1. They were out of stock in my size; I thought the medium was sized correctly, but I'm a XS/S. I just can't get away with an M. 2. This is the big one: why are there only two external pockets, and why are they super tiny?! I absolutely would have kept this coat if it had more/bigger pockets.I also think it would have been easy enough to make this a removable hood; I don't personally ... It's high-quality, warm, and the color is gorgeous.
I literally cannot fault this coat for anything, it is absolutely perfect for my needs. Living in DC, we get a lot of wind and we got a ton of snow a few weeks back and this parka SAVED ME. We were in the 10's, HOWLING snow, and I was not cold at all. Now that its gotten a tad warmer, I am super appreciative of its ability to shield me from the wind gusts we tend to get. Since the coat is white and can be synched at the waist, I feel like it makes it look a little nicer and I can still pair it with nicer clothes. The thumb holes are great for a little added warmth, especially on cold mornings when I bike to work. It doesn't feel bulky at all, but I can easily layer more/less depending on the outside temperature. For reference, I am 5'2", 110 lbs and got an XS. The ... The arm length was perfect for me, but since there are thumb holes this may depend on arm span. It fit me perfectly. Also, the pockets are PERFECTLY deep (shoutout to my girls out there that are constantly dealing with inadequate/non-existing pockets) where I can but things in them without worrying that they'll fall out, and can zip them up just in case. Plus, the little inner pocket is super handy for holding my phone on especially cold days when I might want to protect it a bit more, or when I am biking and don't want it to be in my lower pocket. Finally, the ability to zip / unzip from the top and bottom is SUPER handy. I can control the temperature a bit better, and again comes in handy when I am biking. I will definitely need to figure out the best way to wash it because white things definitely get dirty, but overall I literally couldn't be happier.
I never write reviews but for this coat I had to ! I originally went in store (The North Face Fifth Ave) location I knew I wanted to get a new winter coat but I didn't know what style, color , or what my size would be.Our experience in store: When my boyfriend and I arrived to the store we were greeted with a welcoming hello from security and staff ! (We went on Black Friday) There was a long line and only 45 minutes to closing. I got assisted not only by 1 team member but 3 ! Everyone was super helpful listening to what I wanted in a coat and even in the madness of Black Friday everyone was super friendly, and fast. They suggested 4 different styles and I tried on different colors and sizes in each. My wants were: Longer coat that doesn't end at the hip. Stylish ... They suggested 4 different styles and I tried on different colors and sizes in each. My wants were: Longer coat that doesn't end at the hip. Stylish - I always got black winter coats. Feminine -I feel some winter coats make you really boxy.Fit/ Style: I fell in loveeee with the Women's Arctic Parka, I love that it's a longer coat and not short. For reference I'm 5'1 and it hits just at my knees. I got a size XL and I was surprised I thought I would need to get a size in the plus size range. The XXL was too big on me. The XL in fawn grey wasn't available but the staff helped place an online order. I love that the coat accentuates my curves and doesn't make me boxy. Thumb holes and all the other features make such a difference ! *For sizing reference: In pants I wear 18, and typically a XXL/ 1x in shirts, 42C in bra & I have an apple shape.*Color: In the color Fawn Grey to me it looks more of a mauve color and that's what I really loved about it ! It's a stunning color without being overwhelming and bright. It's very diverse where any gender can play it off!Warmth:You don't feel the wind at ALL very warm coat but not overbearing it's a comfortable warmth. I'm no longer shivering or cold. Bonus: The two zippers allow you to open up if you want some air.The North Face just gained a new loyal client can't wait to shop for more products ! :)
This coat is working well for me in my cold and rainy PNW climate for daily use. It is comfortably warm, the hood is good sized and keeps the rain out of my face, and the many pockets are well placed and hold lots of stuff. So far the rain does bead up and roll right off. It also has large zipper pulls to help grab them when wearing gloves, a much appreciated detail. The coat is listed as relaxed fit so I ordered my regular size L, which works very well for my 5'10" pear shape and habit of wearing many layers. It hits just at the top of my knee to keep me warm but not restrict walking. There is still enough space to move my arms and not feel constrained, and it doesn't pull at the hips. Some quibbles that prevent me from giving a full 5 stars include: The material ... MoreThis coat is working well for me in my cold and rainy PNW climate for daily use. It hits just at the top of my knee to keep me warm but not restrict walking. There is still enough space to move my arms and not feel constrained, and it doesn't pull at the hips. Some quibbles that prevent me from giving a full 5 stars include: The material is loud and swishy when I walk, which is quite annoying. I wish the front drop in pockets were bellows style to better fit gloves or a wallet, and magnetic closures on those instead of snaps would allow for quicker access. The slide in pockets behind the drop in ones are insulated and cozy, but the pockets higher up near the chest are only lined with fabric and not behind any insulation, so hands won't get warm there. I personally do not like the inner backpack straps because my arm keeps catching on them, so I will be removing those, though I see how they might work for others. Despite these complaints, I will keep the coat because it works for my lifestyle, but I hope future versions might modify and improve some of these details in a coat labeled as the "premium" version.
Love this new model of the Arctic Parka. The adjustable straps give you so much flexibility depending on how fitted you want the coat to sit. The wrist cuffs with thumb holes are also a great new feature, keeping my hands warm and the wind out. Went for a night walk where it was 4°C and very windy, but this coat kept me very warm, even with just a thin cotton top underneath. I could really feel that the coat kept the wind out and was impressed at how good it was at keeping the warmth in. This new model is much better than the previous one which leaked down feathers all the time. A big improvement and worth the price tag.Possible improvements: could do with slightly bigger front pockets, warmer lining in the front pockets, reflector (especially on the black coat).
Such a great jacket. The moment I put it on, I felt so cozy and warm. It has been so beautifully crafted - like they've thought of every way to keep someone warm and comfortable in the winter, while still looking pretty good in a parka! Love the lined pockets, the extended sleeve with thumb holes, and the beautiful color of the cocoa brown. The double zipper is a great addition, especially as this coat is a bit narrower on the hips and buttocks, so for longer walks, I unzip the bottom a bit to have a longer stride. I bought an xs, which is a bit snug at the hips on me, but perfect elsewhere. I may go to a small, to have a bit more room if I wanted to layer as well.I haven't washed it yet, so not sure how it will hold up to that, but overall so far, great coat, ... We were dipping into the negative temps when I realized I didn't have a parka. I have a couple winter coats but nothing that is suitable for really really cold. I went exploring and found a few I liked before settling on this North Face Arctic Parka. For size reference, I am 5'2", weigh 108lbs with a slight athletic build and have a bra size of 34 A. I went with an XS and it fits just as it should. The main body has goose down and the outer shell is made of waterproof breathable fabric. It contains recycled materials and is certified RDS. I was able to zip up the collar to protect my face and the hood fit well enough, albeit a little bit big. It's comfortable to wear and doesn't feel too bulky. The price may seem high, but it's definitely worth it.
