Almost all The Ordinary products are in glass bottles with a pipette. They look like some pharmacy or professional products, they look very nice on a shelf in the bathroom. For the entire face, neck and décolleté, I need 5-6 drops. Due to the presence of a pipette, it is very convenient to dose the serum. I apply the serum after cleansing and toning the skin, wait a couple of minutes, then apply the cream all over my face. Serum is applied easily, pleasantly and gently glides over the skin. Absorbs quickly, leaving a slight stickiness behind. But after applying the cream, this feeling of slight discomfort disappears. My skin does not sting after application, but some note that there may be a slight tingling sensation. I started to notice the first changes in my skin after 1.5 weeks of use. The skin became more hydrated and incredibly soft and pleasant to the touch, but most importantly, the traces of rashes on the chin disappeared. I have acne spots for a very long time, but with lactic acid I get rid of them much faster. But do not forget that when using products with acids in your care, you must definitely use a cream with an SPF filter! Minimum SPF30, even in winter, and even when there is no sun. For 1.5 months of regular use, I lost 1/3 of the bottle.

This water based serum absorbs incredibly quickly into the skin… lightning fast. This targets dullness, uneven texture, and aging, but exfoliants like this help with acne scars and overall acne for me. This is a great product for those that are introducing lactic acid into their routine, as they can step it up to their 10% formula for quicker and more intense results… but first your skin needs to get used to this. Personally, I only exfoliate with this 1-3 nights a week, because my skin gets irritated and red when I exfoliate too often—especially on my cheeks! The lactic acid concentration helps reduce the appearance of healing acne, and just gives an overall healthier and brightened skin texture. For me, uneven texture comes from small acne bumps, so this is great for my acne-prone t-zone. The Tasmanian pepper berry is added to calm your skin because of the exfoliation, and the Hyaluronic acid is great for hydration. Overall bang-on product that’s incredibly cost effective, and something that will bring you results. You need to be consistent with this to see them, however, especially since this is a lower concentration. Overall, you know your skin best. If you want to try out a chemical exfoliant, this is dirt cheap (8 CAD) if you want to introduce lactic acid into your routine!

It’s hard to find an acne system or combination of products that did not dry out my skin and make it peel or burn. When I did find products that worked, the price tag was such that I was spending over $100 a month (way too much for me). Having acne costs enough already between the physical and emotional harm it brings. I started looking into different acids and ingredients online that would help my breakouts and scarring without damaging my skin. Lactic acid is in so many expensive acne/dark spot serums and creams and this stuff is a great place to start before pulling the trigger on a $40-$60 product. Lactic acid has made a HUGE difference in my skin, not just my face but also my chest and back and thighs. I use it every day on my face and it has also helped fade post acne marks on my back, legs, and booty! This stuff does not burn, though it may tingle initially and cause some purging during the first two weeks of use. If you are tired of your skin being really dry because of old school products containing benzoyl peroxide and alcohol, and then getting oily and breaking out again as soon as you stop using them, TRY LACTIC ACID. It exfoliates by removing dead skin cells and increasing cell turnover rate, which helps to get all the nasty gunk out of your face without using a harsh mask or peeling solution. Better yet, it is able to do this while balancing your moisture levels so that you don’t dry out like crazy. This lactic acid product specifically is my favorite and you can’t beat the price! Keep at it even if you start noticing small white heads forming all over your face during the first two weeks. Avoid popping them and use this only at night. The breakouts will slow down dramatically and you will start to notice your post acne scars fading and your skin tone evening out.

Alright so first some background… Age: 27 Skin type: Suuuuper dry/not acne prone Skin care experience: Lots of experimenting with exfoliates, masks, moisturizers, series, etc. from my teen years til now. I wasn’t expecting this serum to do much for me given the fact that I’m no stranger to acids and chemical exfoliators. I’ve always just been made MORE dry from glycolic acid and such, so I didn’t think these types of things would ever work for my skin. The first day that the weather starts getting colder, I can physically AND visibly tell that my skin is drying out/getting flaky/rejecting any type of moisturizer I put in it. It’s seriously gross, and as a daily full face of makeup wearer…it’s pretty unsightly to see the foundation flaking and creasing all over my nose and cheeks. When I wash my face at night, I typically still feel dry and flaky even when I’m freshly moisturized. I’ve been using this serum for about 1.5 weeks. I used it everyday for the first week, and then decided to do just 3 days of the next week so my skin could take a break from the exfoliation. The serum was VERY mild to me. I felt a slight tingle, but no burning (others not used to acids may need to slowly introduce their skin to this). The first week, I didn’t see anything too drastic, but as time went by, my skin started retaining moisture better and when I smooth moisturizer on at night and the morning, my skin feels SOFT and not textured with dry patches! My makeup doesn’t visibly crack and flake anymore, and overall, the majority of tightness from my normally dry face isn’t as extreme anymore. I would have never expected something like this from such an affordable product, but it’s definitely made me consider tossing out all of my expensive acids serums/toners because nothing has ever made my skin feel significantly less dry which is a GODSEND for the upcoming brittle winter. Can’t wait to see how this helps my skin hold up when the humidity and temp plummets the upcoming months!!
This product has changed my skin. I'm someone who has A L W A Y S had issues with my skin (very oily, prone to breakouts, large pores). During the pandemic, my skin staged a revolt against me. When I tell you the breakouts were the worst of my entire life, I am not exaggerating. Terrible breakouts. I tried EVERYTHING, from expensive treatments to natural remedies to drugstore products. Nothing helped. Then I found The Ordinary. I've added a few of their products to the rotation, but this one I use every single day. It cleared up my horrible breakouts, and my skin is healthier and more balanced than it has ever been in my life. I used Alpha Arbutin to help heal the scars from old breakouts, and I can leave the house without makeup for the first time ever. I use ... MoreThis product has changed my skin. I'll never use anything else.
If you are looking for a product to eliminate small bumps on your skin and have smooth texture, this is it!I have been using this for almost 2 years now and I can only honestly say this is the best exfoliator I have, and I look forward to using this in my nighttime routines. I don’t just use this on my face however, it is also helps greatly for back acne or even on legs and bum.I use it twice a week. If you’re new to lactic acid, I’d personally recommend if you’re not used to using high percentages of HA, purchase the 5% lactic acid of The Ordinary first, use it once a week. Then once your tolerance is built up I would definitely go for this 10% when you’ve finished your first bottle.Just remember to apply suncream especially mineral, the next day as the sun ... I'm black with a skin color that would be considered medium brown. I attribute my dark marks fading away to this product. I've been using it on and off since mid April. I won't act as if the marks are all gone, but it's significantly better than what it used to be. My skin has been pretty terrible since February of 2020 and the marks seemed to never go away until I started using this. I recently added this to my skincare routine and WHOA. It was already good, but this INSTANTLY took it to a whole new level. Definitely my skin’s favorite AHA, my face absolutely loves this stuff.I switch it up sometimes, but typically, I use this after washing with Tatcha soft rice wash & Farmacy BHA toner, then follow with T.O. niacinamide, and T.O. retinol 2% with squalane mixed in with my Farmacy Honey Halo moisturizer (and/or SPF if I’m going outside that day).I’m so glad to have finally found the products that work for me and I couldn’t have done it without the lactic acid.*To be fair, I probably mix things that shouldn’t be mixed, but I consider my skin to be sensitive so I started with a really gentle routine and built up as I reacted well to ... I burn easily, don’t tan, and freckles I love. I have large pores & redness around my nose & cheeks, some shiny areas and some very dull. I had horrible cystic hormonal acne from PCOS as a teenager; with medication, the scars are still fading and I still get mild breakouts occasionally (usually patches of little bumps that don’t last very long). All of the above have approved in the last few months since starting my routine and now my pores are practically nonexistent thanks to the lactic acid.My legs and upper arms are on the bumpy, crepey struggle bus lately (I don’t know if it’s a rash or eczema or ingrown hairs or what but it flares up occasionally) so I actually just got another bottle of this to use in between F.A.B. exfoliator & reparative moisturizer. I’ll try to update later and let you know how it works for my body!Try it out!!Photo unedited, just a mirror selfie with iPhone 11 camera. It’s like I got new skin I swear.
Bought this a while ago when I had a lot of active breakouts and delayed using until they started to clear. Used this only a few times and have already seen a difference -- used in the shower before a gentle cleanser, figured I'd rinse off until my skin builds tolerance as went straight for the 10% serum. My face has been purging slightly but so far with no irritation which is good, just tiny tiny whiteheads. After a 10hr waitressing shift in a heatwave I really needed an exfoliation, this has worked perfectly! My face feels so smooth and decongested, I have noticed my pores also look way smaller and general texture has improved as well (even for acne scarring). I've had dry-sensitive skin all my life but recently have been more towards combination, this has done a great job of evening that out without leaving my face feeling stripped and irritated. I have been using Niacinimide + Zn as my main serum so excited to see how the two mix when I'm able to not rise this off. Says to avoid using on broken skin like many other TO products, but I haven't (yet) experienced any ill effects of this other than stinging on application. Would definitely recommend, especially to those starting out in skincare or looking for more clinical products.
Ii have suffered from acne all my life, and everywhere. Face, back, chest. It has ruined my self esteem and all that, tried everything from every level and all that. Like many who buy different products from newer brands with hope that this time something will work.Well I got an allergic reaction to something right when my skin had cleared up thanks to the overwhelming difference their HA was making on my face. And I ended up with not even pimples but welts on my face and back. It has been horrifying. I had just received this product in the mail and started to use. It is crazy how this thing is attacking the welts and dark spots. Within a few days despite those days being the days I work which usually worsens my skin conditions, my skin went back down to smooth. ... MoreIi have suffered from acne all my life, and everywhere. It is crazy how this thing is attacking the welts and dark spots. Within a few days despite those days being the days I work which usually worsens my skin conditions, my skin went back down to smooth. It is now attacking the scars left (I did try picking at these). Some skin around my mouth is peeling a little because I think I let too much out a few times. Then again the places it is peeling are the areas that are darker from the rest of my skin. It really saved me from weeks, maybe months of mental anguish, because in the past when this happens I then break out with regular pimples on top of that. I saw this starting up on my chin but continued to use this with the HA and spot treated the chin ones with an overnight mask and they have almost entirely gone back down. Only one bump appears still active. Impressive for just one night. I hope this continues to help me on my journey to just regular, clear, smooth skin. Thanks TO
