Great stick but Very stock the old slew button version

I love the stick and throttle but the slew switch is the unpopular and difficult to use one that predates 2021, sadly for this reason I can't recommend getting it from here due to this.I was hoping as I'd read they changed this a long time ago that I wouldn't need to use the analogue mod (an extra £50) as an alternative, but it seems the setup sold is the older version as shown by this and the older box art.Would recommend but considering the upgrade was free and significant I feel a little cheated with this purchase.

I also purchased a HOTAS mounting system that allows me to mount the Warthog components on a stand and position it perfectly in front of my lap for comfort, along with rudder pedals. Newegg was very responsive and the return process was easy and hassle free. I had my new joystick within 5 business days of returning the defective unit. The replacement unit is working well. If you purchase the Warthog, I would advise you consider a replacement policy on the joystick as you may need to replace the unit should some switches fail. (Or be ready with a soldering gun :-) ). An investment like this one definitely warrants an extended warranty. Though there are much cheaper alternatives out there, if you want the look and feel of an all metal control setup, this is the HOTAS for you.

Thrustmaster WARTHOG - Great Product

I upgraded to the Thrustmaster WARTHOG from my old and trusty Logitech Extreme 3D and I primarily bought the stick for DCS (A-10,F-16 and F-18 modules). I looked at more expensive alternatives, but settled on the WARTHOG due to it being a replica of the A-10 and it could provide a more realistic HOTAS experience in DCS.After purchase, the product was dispatched the next business day by Pagnian and delivered within 2 days. It was my first purchase from Pagnian but I will not hesitate to buy from them again. The product itself is very solid. The stick is all metal and has a high quality feel to it. One point to note, it does not have a Z axis, so you will require rudder pedals.Likewise the throttle quadrant is a great addition with its many switches and buttons. Most of the throttle is metal but the throttles themselves are made primarily of plastic, but I don’t find this a problem.Overall, the WARTHOG is a massive upgrade and I would recommend it to anyone that can justify the price. Yes, there may be alternatives (VKB, Virpil etc) but if you want something in stock and in Australia the Thrustmaster is really your only option.

This is a great bit of kit and for 100 quid off it was a bargain, if your into these things... Not ideal for a Space SIM which I only play (star citizen) but if you add some rudder pedals this should sort out your roll. I brought a Evo by vkb to go with the throttle and put the stick aside for now...The throttleIt really is as good as it looks, doesn't take up much room on my desk which is cool as I dont want to start adding brackets and what not and is heavy, but not to heavy, this throttle will not move for me which is great. Build is excellent, using a switch to start up my Corsair never gets old. That useless nub that everyone hates has now been replaced with a thumbstick I can confirm. I flew the Navy T-34C and T-2C and was looking for something close to these trainers (especially the latter). This set fits the bill based upon my experience with similar stick and power control quadrant. The heft alone gives them stability during all the yank-and-bank maneuvers. I am currently using it with Razbam's Buckeye. Between the faithful software depiction and the HOTAS hardware, I am able to fly many of the flights in the actual jet I flew in VT-19 (NAS Meridian). The Razbam limits me to my old Microsoft FSX (Flight Sim X). I have found the native FSX throttle and joystick assignments really miss the mark. I tried the Thrustmaster T.A.R.G.E.T. Had for almost 2 years now. This stick is old now and not worth it for today’s standards. Thrustmaster and very need to reduce the price of this to make it realistic as they keep pushing this as top of the range but it’s not. It tends to catch newbies to flight sims out. It was the only decent stick a while back which kinda justified the price (well no really but you get what I mean) worth about £150 in my opinion. The build internally is actually really poor in comparison to other builds these days. Yes it has a metal joystick but it’s like dressing a pig in a suit. Thrustmaster now do a standalone base what I think has cams and you can get the joystick separately. Buttons are a bit squishy on sticks but that’s okay! No issues with throttles they are decent and get the job done.

Worst stick I've ever owned

I'll start by saying that Pagnian offered a competitive price and delivered it within a matter of days to metro Sydney. Kudos to them for great service! The problem is with the stick itself. The throttle is primo quality with no issues. The stick, however, is the worst stick I've ever owned. The metal grip feels great, high quality, etc. The buttons mostly feel very good, though I find the hats can be a bit 'spongey', meaning that they don't give a 'click' feedback. This wasn't really an issue for me, and it may be how the real stick on the real A-10 Warthog feels, as this is a replica after all. This wasn't really an issue for me, and it may be how the real stick on the real A-10 Warthog feels, as this is a replica after all. I found using gloves to be a much more comfortable way to use the stick as this is how the real stick is designed to be used. The problem itself lies in the base, or the gimbal to be more precise. Fresh out of the box I immediately noticed that the stick gets stuck in various positions. With the stick at full deflection, it will move more or less smoothly. It is between centre and full deflection that you will notice the sticking, especially the closer to centre that you are. This is no minor thing and greatly affects your flying. At the centre, it is literally impossible to make minute adjustments, which is crucial for both warbirds (WWI and WWII) and for a lot of functions with jets, particularly refuelling. Forget getting your crosshairs on target - this stick simply can't do it. At medium deflection, the problem is also quite bad. I found that while trying to dogfight, I regularly felt as though I was at full deflection, only to find that the stick had become stuck. I literally had to yank the stick to move it further, as progressively increasing the pressure just would not work. This, of course, causes your plane to **** suddenly and more often than not spin out of control. Not jerking the stick to full deflection simply means not using the full turn radius of the plane, thus rendering dogfighting impossible. This is a combat stick, not a GA stick, so not being able to dogfight with it is a little bewildering.I thought I perhaps had a defective unit, but I did some research into the issue, and lo and behold, it is a well-known problem with the Warthog stick that is known as 'stiction'. This is caused by the gimbal being plastic (yes that's right, the outside is all metal but what you don't see is the plastic internals!), where the gimbal mould has left-over plastic ridges that catch on other internal components. There are only two ways to resolve this problem: Buy an expensive mounting and extension setup (which mitigates but doesn't fully eliminate the problem), or to open the gimbal up, fully taking it apart in a rather intimidating and involved looking process, sanding down the offending plastic ridges, adding new special, high-viscosity grease, and putting it all back together again, hopefully not breaking any of the delicate components in the process, but likely voiding your warranty just for taking it apart and finishing the job of the manufacturers! There is just no other way around this stiction problem, but for this price point, it is absolutely absurd that I have to do risky maintenance on a brand new, high-end stick. It is equally absurd that I have to spend $400+ for desk mounts and extensions, bringing the total cost for this setup to $1000+. I got the Warthog because I thought it was a high-end stick at a competitive price compared with the other high-end sticks on the market, but at $1000 I could have gone with something else that doesn't have these issues.I would never recommend this stick to anyone and will be telling anyone who asks to steer well clear of the Warthog.I have packed my brand new stick back up in its box and have contacted Pagnian. If Pagnian can do something about this, my review may change, but as is, this was a total waste of money and I am very disappointed by the whole experience. I'll be steering clear of Thrustmaster products in future too. Please heed my warning and don't make the same mistake I did. Go with VKB or Virpil - it'll cost you the same in the end.

Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog is a professional set consisting of a joystick, control panel and throttle, a replica of the A10-C Warthog aircraft. The HOTAS WARTHOG joystick with two throttle levers and a USB port is the fruit of close cooperation between the development department of Thrustmaster and flight simulator enthusiasts. At the product development stage, a continuous exchange of information took place and research was carried out with a view to creating a joystick fully in line with the precisely defined requirements of experts. The result of this work is a HOTAS WARTHOG replica set including a joystick, two throttle levers and a U.S. attack aircraft control panel. Air Force A-10C. The weight exceeding 6 kg and the metal used in the rod, throttle levers and bases provide the HOTAS WARTHOG joystick with impressive physical parameters. Considering 55 fully programmable action buttons and 2 four-way mushroom switches (each with a built-in button (this is the first joystick in the world containing such a function), it becomes clear that HOTAS WARTHOG is in a class of its own.
