I read several reviews on this item before purchasing and all comments were relevant. To sum it up though yes you will need to lube up the thread to ensure you dont sieze or damage it I used antisieze, I did need to cut the tapered length off of the top of my ball joint to give me enough room to create enough room to to beable to push the ball joint out, and finally, there is a method to how all those parts mix and match to create the right way of getting the joint out and then back in. Some pictures would have been handy there. Finally as someone else mentioned the top section where there are some casting flashings should be machined flat to help keep your stack of fittings all square and alligned. One hint, pull the rubber off the top of the old ball joint to make seating the push out sleeve easier on the top of the ball joint.

Does what it says on the tin! Good value and feels well made. We were able to do D40 Navara Ball joints with one small mod. Put a small amount of grease on the thread to ensure we didn't have the issues others had experienced. No dramas and for the price, you cant go wrong.

Doesn't work for ford falcon ba upper ball joint, pushes the BJ in an angle and spoils the ball joint.Poor quality (very soft). The attachments are hard to mix and match and lining the pieces together to press is a pain.Waste of time and money.

Changed the upper balljoints on kun hilux, made the job so easy. I have extended ball joints as part of monster rides lift kit and this tool handled them no worries. You do need to remove uca's to do it as you don't get the clearance, but that is easy. If you lube the threads as recommended the tool can handle massive torque. Great.
I bought this to replace upper ball joints on my brother's hilux.I found removing the factory ball joints close to impossible due to the the size of the G, I ended up just cutting off the spindle in order to get the thing in there to pop it out. It was somewhat difficult keeping everything aligned and stable while tightening, admittedly I could have removed more components below to make access easier but I was still able to get the job done. The other difficulty I faced was installed extended ball joints. The G clamp was not big enough to use it as designed, I had to have no plate at the top which caused some clearance issues between the clamp and the upper control arm, but I sorted it by jamming in a spanner as a bit of spacer. The G clamp was not big enough to use it as designed, I had to have no plate at the top which caused some clearance issues between the clamp and the upper control arm, but I sorted it by jamming in a spanner as a bit of spacer. I also had to find an extended pipe for a metal shop in order to get the new ball joint to seat. All in all, it saved me from having to take the upper control arm out and get the new ball joint pressed out/in. Money well spent.
Used to remove and reinstall ball joints on a BA Falcon. There was a slight tang in the casting of the C piece which was causing alignment issues, nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a quick file. After which the tool works perfectly.
I bought this kit with the negative comments in mind. I had no choice and needed to install my upper ball joint for my 2004 Landcruiser (heavy vehicle). At first it was very frustrating to find the correct combination of cups to go over the joint. Even got a cup stuck and had to smash it off. It's all trial and error. Then when I flipped the clamp upside down I got the perfect combination. I however had to use my heavy duty 3/4" air impact ratchet to get the new joint on as the new joint was much tighter than the old one. Showed no sign of wanting to break. So be patient with it and have an impact ratchet on hand. I'm glad I have this in my tool collection.
Most tools at this level take time and patience, cheap way to get around a big problem. No direction on how to use the tool (reviews only), I had to file back inner section of the lower C-frame to help the cup sit, again time and patience was needed to setup.Includes:- C-frame and forcing screw.-Installation cup - Receiving cups-Adaptors: 3 x Receiving Tubes (2-1/4"x3", 1-3/4"x2-1/2", 1-3/4"x2")
With the addition of a drift I turned up and a few different washers, I use this to remove and replace the spring shackle bushes with ease on my Vintage Ford, also the replacement of bushes in the mechanical brake cams and peddles, and to even to press in new grease nipples. With the open hole in the end makes this a very universal tool that I will be using for many other applications.
I changed a lower ball joint on a 2000 au ute had alot of difficulty in removal as the unit is bearly long enough to use the proper sleeves i had to cut the old ball joint flush with a grinder in oreder to get the set up on the ball joint.I cant recommend use to re instal ball joints on au falcon and it dosent have the right adaptoers ether. I then had to remove my lower contol arm and had to use a 100 ton press as i striped the thread trying to press the new one in with out it being damaged
Quit trying to push out that old ball joint with a G-clamp and a couple of sockets and use the right tool for the job. ToolPRO's 4WD ball joint remover set provides a wide range of press and receiver cups to suit a wide range of ball joints. Simply find a press cup that fits snugly and a receiver cup that is close to the outer diameter of the ball joint you're removing and press them together with the joint between. The result will be an easy, quick and most importantly safe extraction of the offending ball joint. Installing the new joint is effectively the opposite, taking care to keep the press square and centred during the process. When you're done, pop all the bits back into the custom moulded plastic case until the next suspension project.
