TP-Link TL-SG105 5 Port Desktop Gigabit Switch

Shifted in to my house but didn't open up more LAN points at my TV console, I was using the Deco so only had 1 point to connect to. Netflix was pretty slow on WiFi and I had other hardware as well. So decided to get 2 of this, which linked like this: Modem -> Deco main -> Switch 1 -> Switch 2I'm happy that I don't need to manually keep switching the LAN cables. Attached before and after speed. Switch is not hot after running for 1 night. Seller is responsive as well!

Connect multiple devices without loosing performance

I was having problems with my smart TV using wifi. As it was next to my PC. As my PC is connected to my router via an ethernet I connected the switch to the ethernet socket and connected my TV and PC to the switch. TV now works fine, and PC runs with no effect on speed. I advise you use an online broadband speed checker when you first make the connection as my went from 125Meg to 30Meg at first. This turned out to be a faulty cable. Cable was replaced and speed back to 125Meg.

Does what it's supposed to do.

There's not much you can say about a five-port unmanaged gigabit Ethernet switch. I bought it to add a few extra Ethernet ports to my network closet on the cheap. It works as it should, the only setup it required was plugging it in and plugging it into the network. Build quality seems good, and contents of the box are about what you would expect (the switch itself, the power adapter, and some rubber feet to stick to the bottom of it). So far the little bit of stuff I have connected to it is working fine, no drops or anything. Worth the money if all you need is a few extra gigabit ports at one end of your network.

Incredibly easy way to get another 4x gigabit ports.

Incredibly easy solution! Just plug it in... and you have now another 4 gigabit ports to use. No configuration, that's it... what more can I say about functionality? There are a couple of different versions physically however, this one is steel bodied and has metal ports. There other is just about all plastic, it does the same job... but not as robust (I was gifted one of those by my son after ordering this one). I thought the metal version would dissipate heat better, but neither is much above room temperature in my application.

Ordered refurb, received new!

This is an AMAZING buy! I’m guessing these are actually “old stock” rather than “refurbished.” I bought 2 and both showed up factory sealed. Do be aware that there are several variants of this model, and the 2 I received are not identical. Besides slightly different packaging, one model has a switch for loop prevention while the other does not. Again, same model number, different revision. They both work great for my needs.

Simple managed switch.

Great home office/small business Ethernet switch. Managing the device is easy to do from your internet browser using the device’s IP. No software installation needed and good for beginner networking. One drawback is the lack of the ability to turn of the LED link lights but little pieces of electrical tape cover them just fine.

Simple, easy to use, and works as intended

This is a very good basic 1 Gbps switch. Very useful for extending my home network to obscure locations within my house. It's plug and play and doesn't require any configuration. It can be powered from a regular USB port (if you have the adapter cable). I just wish it uses a standard 2.1mm barrel plug DC adapter.

Works as Advertised and Does It Well

I bought this switch to create a network of data throughout my home. It is literally plug and play. Doesn't offer extra bells and whistles, because they are not needed. Internet speed remains great. Streaming (TV, video games, etc) may actually be a little cleaner than when I was just running off of WiFi. Works just as well as some higher price point items.
