I bought this fully expecting it to not work with my 80v Kobalt trimmer, and was 95% sure I'd just be returning it. Even running it on a 2Ah and 2.5Ah battery I was pleasantly surprised. It definitely prefers moderately wet soil as opposed to drenched thick mud/clay. I was able to till up and level an 18 foot round spot for my pool in a very respectable time. It doesn't chew through batteries like I thought it would, but it won't run forever either. All in all, I'm very happy with it. It also doesn't care for big thick clumps of well rooted ornamental grasses, but if you get deep enough beside it and roll over it it'll eventually yank it out.

I bought this to take care o turning over yellow spots of dead grass and to prep for new soil and seeds. It performed fantastically! After saving my back with this cultivator, my wife askedme to turn over her fower beds. It performed perfectfully. What usually took 2+ hours was finished in under a half an hour. If you need to cultivate a reasonably compcr area, then this is the tool for you.

I have a split shaft Cub Cadet weed trimmer and the tiller attachment snapped in place perfectly. The rototiller worked like a charm breaking up clumps of clay. Did a great job of the flower bed. I highly recommend this product.

I usually don't write these, but I feel I need to this time. I was on the fence about purchasing this unit to till my yards bare spots to replace the lawn. The ground was very hard, bare for several years, which give you an idea of how hard the ground would be, with clay base. I was unsure if this would handle the job due to the light eight of the unit, no wheels to rest on. I told my wife this will never work, but I am going to try it. Well, I was AMAZED. This little tool cut through the hard ground with ease. Yes it took some pressure to hold it against the ground, but it cut right into it with no problem. It dug up rocks, old sod mesh, sod, wires, you name it it pulled it up. It took me less than an hour to till up about 100 square feet spots in my yard, this was ... MoreI usually don't write these, but I feel I need to this time. It dug up rocks, old sod mesh, sod, wires, you name it it pulled it up. It took me less than an hour to till up about 100 square feet spots in my yard, this was going over it three different directions to makeit VERY soft and easy to move around to level it out. I have no reservations about doing the rest of the yard. What a great purchase for the price, it is great. This makes 4 attachments and they all work great.
This is my second one. last one I had for a couple of years and I tore it up when I hit a piece of concrete under the ground. This is not a garden tiller It's going to struggle in hard soil. A fantastic cultivator if the ground has been turned over in the past. This is going to help you maintain it. It's a great tool.
This tiller attachment is well built and was an easy fit for my Craftsman weed trimmer. It is a bit heavier than the string attachment, so you may want to purchase a strap to help with the weight/balance of the trimmer/tiller attachment. I used the tiller primarily to till areas of my yard for reseeding. The tiller worked very well for my purpose. It would till as deeply as I wanted it to go. Being a tiller, it will test your strength and stamina if you use it too long, but does an excellent job for its size and weight. It is easy to clean. It even dug up some rocks/chalk around the size of a lemon with ease. I've used garden tillers in the past and I would recommend this attachment for those with small jobs around the yard or garden.
I was helping out a friend to get this tiller attachment and after reading that it fits Most Brands, and the price was certainly decent, I ordered it. Problem is simple but not fixable. If you own a cheaper style of detachable trimmer, this should work just fine for you. If you own a better style of detachable trimmer (my friend has a Husqvarna 128LDX) then this unit WILL NOT FIT!! This fits the "push button" style shafts, has a square (speedometer type cable) male drive. The Husqvarna is a 'clamp type' connection and uses a Splined male shaft into a splined female shaft, also this tiller outer housing is "bigger" and will NOT fit into the Husqvarna connector. Bottom line: this unit most likely will NOT fit many brands as stated! The tech guy at Troy repeated himself over and over that they had "put it on different brands like Husqvarna (of course he had No model to reference to that it allegedly fit !) and that it worked" Check your style of detachable trimmer, regardless of brand, and if it has a Female square, and only has one button to push to separate your trimmer head, then it should work, otherwise buy a higher quality tiller attachment to avoid disappointment!! I was in the small engine business for 35 years and a Husqvarna dealer for 31 years, so I am speaking from experience.
I have looked at buying one of these for many years. Yesterday I finally gave my back a rest and bought one. I worked as advertised and after using it I wished I bought one earlier. When using it, let the machine do the work. It may want to buck and bounce, let it. It will dig in and before you know it you will have 4 to 6 inch deep nicely tilled earth.I found it works best to work an area abou t 10x10 pulling it to you. Also because there is a gap between the left and right side tines, if you try to go in straight lines the gap can cause it to bounce a bit more. Instead think of it like painting with a roller. Go in a W motion first then up and down. Next turn 90 degrees and repeat the W and back and forth each time letting the machine work away from you then ... MoreI have looked at buying one of these for many years. If you haven't done a tune up on the engine I highly encourage it such as changing the oil and spark plug etc... You want the engine at max torque capability and if the spark plug is fouled and/or oil old, dirty air filter etc... the engine may stall out under load. Prior to installing the tiller head my engine would bog down with the line trimmer and didn't have the same rpm as when new. I did a tune up and it sounded and worked like new. I put the tiller attachment on and it worked moist heavy clay dirt with rocks like butter. Attaching the tiller took more time to take out of the box than attaching it to the shaft. Be sure to have the ground not too wet, and not too dry.I was able to do a 20x30 ft area 6 inches deep in about 20 minutes.
I did not use this cultivator too often, but when I did it would perform adequately. However it recently stopped performing altogether, the tines are not turning at all. I cannot tell you how much time I have spent trying to get it repaired or replaced under warranty and I am getting nowhere with this company. I would recommend a more reputable company if you are, like me, someone who likes to get repairs under a warranty. The warranty on this product is effectively worthless because the company hangs up on you when you call on the phone and sends me to repair shops that want nothing to do with fixing this.
I bought this to use with my Dewalt edger that is attachment-capable. It was so easy to change out the attachments and then change them back. It took less than a minute. It worked great. I used it first to dig a hole for a plant. I couldn't get past just a few inches with shovels, hoes, cultivator hand tools, and spade forks because my ground was so hard. It wasn't as quick as an auger might have been, but it did the job! I can't wait to use it in my flower beds in the spring!
