Twinings has been making Earl Grey for more than a 100 years. It was our favorite tea. Now for some reason they changed the formula and this new tea isn't worth the cost of the water used to brew it. Nothing like the old Earl Grey. Taste is terrible. Buyer beware. You will not get what you were expecting. Hope the realize their mistake and change back as we will never buy their products again. We have sent this garbage back to them. What a shame. You have a good product that has been around forever and then you go mess with it and create an inferior product. No wonder some companies go out of business. If you have been an Earl Grey tea drinker we don't recommend this new version.

If you love your tea strong you'll love these. I was tired of having to use 2 teabags, even good quality pyramid bags. So I spent more and got these. It saves me in the long run. It's not bitter, you can really tell it's good tea. Even the colour is good. My new favourite and now I've got used to them. I won't buy different ones. So nice.

I have been a tea snob for the past five years or so, at the behest of my doctor who advised that coffee was probably not good for my blood pressure. I find tea to be relaxing and calming, and I enjoy the little rituals of preparing it and sipping in the morning. Lately I have been drinking loose leaf Darjeeling from one of Twinings' competitors. I bought a box of twenty bags of English Breakfast Extra Bold at the grocery store. I was unsure as to whether calling "bold" meant that it tasted the same but simply had more stimulant. The blurbs about it said that it had a "malty taste" that was not as mild as the usual English Breakfast. So I brewed a pot. I am really enjoying it. The first cup made me pucker and I thought maybe there was more tannin in it - tannin in the "oaky" compound that produces an aftertaste and a sourness. But after that, the tannin twinge was not nearly so pronounced. I think higher tannin is a feature of most Pekoe tea; this is nowhere near that level. I also have been wondering, I think the mid-level purveyors of tea are probably selling fewer boxes of pekoe tea these days as the consumer palate has become more refined in USA. ( this is a guess). So this tea fills a niche that allows it to make a name for itself. Earthy and malty are the words of the day. I will stick with my Darjeeling Second Flush tea most days of the week, but I will put this into rotation for weekend mornings.

The best part of waking up is actually twinings English breakfast in my cup. I have tried a lot of teas over the years. Many different brands and blends. Caffeinated to decaffeinated to herbal. This particular tea is my absolute favorite. It’s high quality and tastes amazing. What I like about getting it from iHerb is that it’s hard to find the 100 count pack. My blood pressure was creeping up as I age and since I drink a lot okay, a very lot of tea, I decided to swap to decaffeinated. As you do, I searched online for reviews and tried what appeared to be the best four out there. By the time Id tried the first two I was starting to think I could tolerate hypertension. They were AWFUL, took so long to brew that the resulting cuppa was tepid,and still didnt taste of much. As the tea was GREY. This was not good. Thank heavens for Twinings. Its indistinguishable from normal tea. Brews quickly, good colour, great taste. And yes, my blood pressures back to normal Expensive but they all are, to be fair, and this is streets ahead in terms of quality.

Twinings the King of Teas, Loose Leaf English Breakfast Blend

Look, I've tried all the high-end, fancy-shmancy teas, nobody and I mean NOBODY does tea better than Twinings. Their English breakfast blend especially is a delicious, robust, flavourful blend. It is a world away from their tea bags, you must buy the loose leaf tea. Add ground whole cardamom seeds, add a dab of honey and a little orange blossom water and let steep until it turns black in the pot. It is euphoric. Try with fresh mint leaves too. I always come back to Twinings. It is a shame that they no longer seem to provide the orange pekoe blend in a loose leaf format. Anyway my absolute favorite.
