My first thoughts are wow this applies with such ease. I used my finger, a little trick I learned from Natasha Denona, and the formula glided over my eyelid for an amazing wet look. I find this method of application much more preferable to using a brush. The sparkles were glamorous and gorgeous. It was also semi-sheer and seemed like it would be better suited as a topcoat given its lack of pigment. The shade Space Cowboy matched my skin tone almost seamlessly. I was giving Cinderella vibes. When I blink I see sparkles… not even kidding. There’s a fair amount of fall out. That may be the only negative thing about this eyeshadow. Oh, and it’s difficult to remove. Minus one star for that. I also have all of the Deluxe shadows, as well as the Moon Dust collections. I understand that companies make decisions to change products, I know that prices go up. Right now, I am extremely glad I do have backups, because this new formulation, the discontinuation of the core colors that have been around for years, and everything I loved about UD eye shadows has disappeared. The formula is terrible, and even the packaging is horrible. Honestly, the packaging is the same as the L'Oreal eye shadows, it's cheap and after using one single a few times, part of the hinge cover broke right off. I have been using UD products since I first discovered them in May 1996. I have had to replace my favorites as they were discontinued from the line up, but now, they are terrible. I will be using my backups now, and I have no desire to shop for anything in this not unique company. All of the reasons I was a loyal customer no longer exist, you have the same colors as every other company, the new formulas are terrible, and now, all of my go to colors have evaporated. I am just glad that I have backups of everything, and since my go to signature lip colors have also disappeared, I literally reverse engineered some of the eye shadows, lipsticks, blushes, and lip glosses and make my own. I never thought the cosmetic chemistry classes would pay off, but they did. Now, I can make the unique colors and formulas you once did, and the formulas may not be exact, but your new formula lacks the ingredients that made them so good. I just have no desire to shop your lineup now. I can create better products at a better price point, and they perform much better because I am using better ingredients. I never thought I would be breaking up with Urban Decay, but you don't make the products I loved, like After Glow Blushes, no more nail colors, badly formulated lip sticks, eye shadows, Baked Bronzers, the Surreal Skin foundations, powders, the beautiful Lip Gunks. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. Just because I am 60 now doesn't mean I want to be that neutral girl that lives a beige life with boring colors and bad formulas. I wore L'Oreal in the '70's and '80's and they are trash now, so I am not going to pay a premium price for sub par beige cosmetics that have the same formula as L'Oreal. It's too bad that it has come to this. You used to be the company that brought a unique perspective to cosmetics, and now, I will just make my own unique products that have great formulas and truly special colors. You just aren't that anymore. I should have seen this coming, every time a great company sells out, the big business who bought them out changes the soul of that company. I know it's about money, but you could have continued and kept loyal customers like me with the original philosophy. Pink makes me puke, and now, you are pink.

Kind of Underwhelming
4 October 2022

As a Sephora employee, all the rave is about Space Cowboy and this shade has been out of stock in store for weeks/months. On my shift, I'd often swatch the eyeshadow on my hand and it looked gorgeous. I'd compare it to Fenty's diamond veil however I prefer this one as it has more swipe payoff and more silver sparkles. It gives that wet eye look effect and looks great alone or as a topper however, when worn alone it is quite hard to maneuver your fingers on your eyelid as it does not pick up on a brush so then you are left with glitter in places of your eyes where you do not need glitter. Another thing is how it is not really buildable. Once you swipe it on, you are kind of left with what you have. Applying more doesn't mean more will show up. It is great as a topper ... MoreAs a Sephora employee, all the rave is about Space Cowboy and this shade has been out of stock in store for weeks/months. It is great as a topper and doesn't lift the product although that does depend on the quality of your eyeshadow as well. The thing I have with this product is how tiny it is as well as the price point. The same goes for the liquid glitter eyeliners, with how much little product application you are getting and how often time glitters are used for very tiny sections of the eye, I wonder if anyone would reasonably spend 30 dollars on a product that they can easily get on a 20 dollar eyeshadow palette. I guess what I am getting at is I do not see the need to buy this separately.

I have been a long time urban decay fan and am happy to say this eyeshadow didn’t disappoint! The formula is great! It’s smooth, blendable, and I didn’t notice any fallout. There is also just the right aamount of glitter to add a little sparkle to your look without it being overwhelming. It is a rather light shade as well which makes it very subtle which is great for a simple look or adding depth to your look. So I used this eyeshadow in the shade Space Cowboy. I have to say I really like the color as it is kind of on the more neutral side and would probably work with any color combination you'd pair it with. I like the consistency/formula of the shadow it comes nicely compacted in it's container and feels buttery smooth. I used the original moondust palette from UD a long time ago but wasn't a fan of it because the shadows would kind of just fall part when you would pick up the color and the color payoff wasn't there and they had a lot of fallout. This shadow however is way better than that original pallette I def think that the formula has greatly improved. I would definitely prefer this over using a loose glitter shadow. It didn't crease after wearing it out all day. The only thing I have to say is that it was very pretty in person and very glittery but for some reason it just wasn't really showing up when I tried photographing it. I prepped my eyelids with too faced eyeshadow insurance primer. I think that if you want this to show up more in photography you will probably have to prep the lid with a glitter based primer or use a shimmer shadow first and then apply the moondust shadow on top of it. *on a side note it did show up nicely on video but for some reason just not much in photos.

I absolutely loved this eyeshadow. Its very pigmented , it goes on smooth , there is some fall out from the glitter but honestly who can deny that sparkles make eyeshadow better. It is buildable unlike other shadows ive used. So you can apply some then apply more on top to make it just slightly darker or blend it out for a lighter shade. The product is so versatile for so many looks ots a must have for your makeup bag. The name it self inspires creative looks. I'll definitely be buying space cowboy and other urban Decay shadows in the future because this was a great and quality addition to my collection. The Urban Decay Moondust Eye Shadow is soo soo beautiful. I've owned other Urban Decay Eye Shadows but this one is definitely one that you must have. This makes your eyelids glisten. If you use multiple swipes, it will give a glowy finish and looks dewy and glossy without the actual gloss feeling almost like a wet look. If you only do a single swipe, it gives off the prettiest sparkles, like a twinkling look. The sparkles are not overpowering, it looks like the sparkles have just the right amount and are spread out like you are looking at the sky. It's just so pretty. Urban Decay's Moondust Eyeshadow in Space Cowboy is a galaxy of sparkles on my eyelids. I initially applied some on my bare eyelids with a brush, but felt the effect wasn't as noticeable. I applied some with my finger and felt I got much better results. The eyeshadow felt very creamy, soft, and luxurious. With my skin tone, I felt that Space Cowboy was translucent and only glitter showed up. I decided to overlay it on top of my normal, neutral everyday eyeshadow and it seemed to match well. However, it was still just a canvas of glitter/sparkles. It was long lasting and withstood a long day of wear, but taking it off was a bit of a pain. Even though it claims to have caffeine to give more energy to your eye, not sure it actually made a difference or was just a placebo effect for me. But I did feel like the sparkles made my eyes pop. I think this shade is perfect and matches all skin tones. I did notice that it doesn't show up as well in photos/videos. It's one of those products that looks better in person. I definitely enjoy recommend it.
