Vittoria Terreno Zero 700x45c TNT Gravel Tyre
Vittoria’s Terreno Dry Tubeless Tire is a fast-rolling off/road tire that does best in less moist conditions. That can be adventure riding, gravel grinding, or cyclocross racing. The tread has a “fish scale” center section, which rolls fast on hard pack and roads, but can still find purchase when the road is gravelly and loose. The side knobs are there for those times when you need to cut hard on unpaved stuff. This tire is probably the one for people who spend most of their adventure rides on roads or smoother non-roads, and for crossers who aren’t riding in swampy conditions. The base is Vittoria’s TNT carcass. It can be run tubed or tubeless, and can work with regular and tubeless rims. There’s a puncture resistant belt laid over the casing. The tread is built up with Vittoria’s 3C, three compound, rubber for durability and topped with their G+ Graphene rubber for both high stickiness and low rolling resistance. The tire comes in the 700c diameter and three widths: 31 weighing 400g, 33 weighing 410g, and 40mm weighing 490g. 33 is the widest you can go in cyclocross, otherwise, choose width based on what kind of roads you ride and cushion you need.

First impression is that they were very difficult to put on the rim. Now they are on, I hope I do not have to remove them all winter. So 4 stars instead of 5.So, on the second ride out, I ran over a small thorn which stuck in the tyre but when I removed it, no puncture. What a result. They’re not the fastest rollers but not bad. I ride at 50psi so don’t expect to break records.Overall, I’m pretty happy with my purchase.

Bought a CX bike about 6 months ago & it had these tires on it (38c). Initially, I liked the tires, but I was considering buying something a bit narrower because most of my riding was going to be on paved roads and only a little bit of gravel. After putting about 1,500 miles on the bike, I can confidently say that I would repurchase these tires in a heartbeat! They’re so fast on pavement, I honestly don’t think going narrower would change much. They also have performed exceptionally well on gravel, and I even took them on a gravel century ride I did a few weeks ago and they were excellent! My girlfriend’s bike has terravail Washburns on it & they just aren’t quite the same. The narrower smooth section in the center of tire has considerably more resistance than the ... The narrower smooth section in the center of tire has considerably more resistance than the more generous smooth section on these. Also have been good in wet conditions. Truth is, most of the pavement here In Minneapolis kinda sucks, & I’d rather float over it on 38s than a 25c or even 30c any day. Bottom line- If you want a tire that can do it all and still be fast on tarmac, this is it.

I have these tires in 35mm on my bike and I really like them! The only reason I don’t give them 4 stars is their lack lack of flat protection. I’ve overcome this by running tire liners. The only flat I had was before installing tire liners. These tires are not tubeless, but they are still fine tires. I ride mainly paved roads, and they are fast and very comfortable! The wire bead sidewalls hold up well to the Southern California sun. They are a blast to ride on gravel! With tire liners they are a comfortable and practical tire for daily riding or commuting! 👍

Ride your gravel bike a lot in the city? This has been my solution tire. After a frustrating series of flats on gravel tires with tubes, I went tubeless with VTZs and have had only minor punctures, which sealed. They ride great and can be inflated to a good pressure (50 psi) for pavement. What's more, they look great. On gravel they'll slip on loose stuff or wet dirt, but that's pretty obvious. Paradoxically, I did have punctures that didn't seal while doing gravel rides. Keep a tube in the fix-it kit.
Riding the Vittoria Terreno Zero G2.0's, which are advertised as tubeless ready but far from it. Had to contact Vittoria directly and their suggestion was to let the sealant sit overnight on each side to seal up the sidewalls... which still didn't help. Just got back from a 90-minute ride during which the PSI dropped from 80psi to 8psi as I rolled in the driveway. Customer support replied once, then ghosted me, ignoring multiple emails and website form submits asking for suggestions. Never buying Vittoria's again.
I've only got a few hundred miles on these tires. I paired them up with my brand-new Boyd Kanuga wheelset. The Terreno Zeros seem pretty stout. They feel thick and sticky but they also feel a little slow. Hard to believe my old Mezcals feel faster to me. This could be due to the wheelset as well. That being said, I love Vittoria tires. I don't ride anything else anymore but I think I'm going to try the regular Terrano Dry's next time and skip this one with the center slick.I'm riding a lot of road and double track fire roads so I went with this as an experiment. Don't get me wrong, I like 'em a lot. Just not for the money I spent. I am curious how long they will last.
Even though I ordered size 700 X 35, and the package was labeled 700 X 35, the tire inside the unopened box was 700 X 38. I didn’t notice this until I had the tire installed and mounted on my bike’s rear. I was surprised that it fit through my bike’s rear triangle. It does make for a very comfortable ride. I ride mostly streets and bike trails so the larger size is overkill. Also, the difference between this 38 rear tire and the 32 I have on the front dropped my front bars too much and put too much pressure on my shoulders. I returned the tire. If I had a 35 or 38 on the front I would have kept it.
I changed from a road bike to a gravel bike in order to take advantage of the more relaxed position (I’m getting older). It definitely helped but I was not totally happy with the bike. These tires changed my bike into everything I hoped it to be. It’s smooth and fast. I had lost over a half a mile an hour, but now it’s back. They grip well and roll fast. Secure on corners and comfortable to ride on. Using the right tires can certainly change your bike. These tires are exceptional in my opinion and for my needs.
I bought 4 of these tires. 2 from Competitive Cyclist and 2 from Backcountry. 700x35. Both times when they were $30 on sale. The 2 from CC went on friend's Trek Checkpoint and mounted on Bontrager wheels. One of the wheels required a bontrager strip but otherwise the tubeless hold and my friend seems to be happy. The second set, however, has had some issues. They mounted just fine on Stan's grails with stans tape and tubeless valve. Once seated, they seemed to seal, however, the rear tire just won't hold air for more than a day. Sometime front loses it too, but seems more stable. The rear will go completely flat within a day or 2. I have put the tire into bathtub and there are bubbles all along both sidewalls, lots of bubbles. I have added more sealant and even had ... I have added more sealant and even had tire on it's side, then on another one, and that held for few rides, then it started losing it again. So 1 out of 4 tires seems to be defective.I don't like making warranty claims so I may play with different sealant or just tube it and call it good until it's done. But for my new set, I will go back to Panaracer which has proven it's mettle when it comes to tubeless.
Very challenging to mount. These look great with super nice volume. Roll nicely. Probably a great tire if planning to use on-road only. On gravel, I find the tread to be really lacking. I know this is the 'zero' model, so I don't expect it to perform in heavy gravel, or technical double track, but even on mild gravel roads, the traction is very unpredictable. Had my first gravel slideout/crash in many years when I pushed these tires in a turn. My fault for pushing them too fast through a corner, but my complaint is how fast they lose traction with no hint or warning. Most tires you'll feel starting to break traction and you have a fraction of a second to react ... not these. It was upright one instant, on the ground the next. Also find that they cut extremely ... Really disappointed as I wanted to keep these on the bike. Just happy I got them on sale.
