Vortex 8x36 Solo Monocular

A fab little product, bought it straight after using one belonging to someone else at a shoot - was surprised at the time how clear and well defined the view was so immediately decided to get one for myself. Very steady view compared to binoculars, and incredibly easy to use, quicker to set up for obvious reason of using only one eye. Carrying it also much easier than binoculars, just clip on your belt, weighs very little and doesn't weigh down your neck. In summary, clarity of view and ease of use makes it a highly recommended product

I was a little wary about buying online from Canada's west coast. But the experience has been excellent, from start to finish. Clear Crisp Optics

Bought this to have a lightweight, small Optic for hikes.This Monocular is larger than it appears on the images, it is also not extremely lightweight, but light enough for its intended purpose. The image is crisp and clear and the clip makes it easy to attach it to the strap of my hiking chest pack. As others mentioned, the focus is a bit stiff, but not prohibitively so.Very happy with this purchase.

Good monocular for the money

Clear and easy to use with a reasonably compact body. I dropped it on some rocks and it was fine so it seems to be durable too. The focus ring is a little stiff but hopefully it will loosen up with use. One thing I’ll warn about is the lanyard - it’s a cheap generic lanyard and it broke (hence the dropping on the rocks).

Just right.

I am a person with hyper-myopia a condition that allows me to see only with one eye at a time, both eyes work but not together or at the same time so binoculars aren't of any practical use to me. I won a Bushnell Spotting scope Trophy XLT 20x60 with a 65mm zoom as well as these. Obviously that's too big for hunting. This compact monocular has a very robust construction, very clear optics and the belt hook and long neck strap are a nice touch. I've dropped it out of a tree stand twice and both times it was fine. I've had it in heavy rain and it remains in tact with no fogging or water dameage due to the waterproof construction. Motorcycle travel

excellent clarity, easy to focus, good light gathering, comfortable to use. a little larger than I wanted but worth it for the larger lenses. my purpose for this is for motorcycle travel, observing wildlife, sight seeing and star gazing. it will live in my 2 liter tank bag so you can see the need for compactness.

My first experience using a monocular

I'm a perfectionist, quality of the product is no2 for me when no1 is functionality. The outside cover of the product I consider more than average quality. The lenses 8x36 I consider is one of the best solution due to the average weight and the result of the product, what I mean is that the light transmittance is 4.5 (when 5 is used in night time). I have tested it even in the night, with moon light you can see people faces from a distance of 100m (with unequipped eye you see just a black shape or stature of a person). I can recommend this product to those who walk a lot as tourists or hunters.

Nice addition

Great little piece of glass. Wish it was available in 10x42 like the bino's. The zoom adjustment could be a little easier to maneuver than it is. Over all still a good addition to the tool box. I have one good eye so I thought this can lighten my load for different scenarios. Im the goofball with one cap on the lens of the bino's. "We have our reasons"

Sharp, contrasts, portable

It competes with my small binocs for time hiking. Good for dim light with 36mm objective lens. Leave the clip and the case at home. The focus wheel is stiff but once set it also does not move. Compares optically well enough to my very expensive Swarovski portable binocs.

excellent product

I bought these for birding and general hiking use and they are perfect. losing the pair of 8x25's i had bought was an opportunity as it turns out. these are a little more bulky but feel better in the hand. However the key benefits are excellent field of view and brightness.Birding with a monocular can be little harder, largely because of the smaller field of view, but I did not find that an issue at all, and this scope is very bright even is low light conditions.they are a little bulky for your average pocket but otherwise nothing to carry on the strap or clipped on a belt. great product
