Vox AV30 Analogue Valve Amp

Bought this for my dad for his 60th birthday. First amp he's ever had and he loves it. I tested it out before I gave it to him to make sure it was in working order and after half an hour I was jealous I didn't get one for myself. Great tonal range, a few in-built effects to play with, and the louder you crank and the longer you play, the better it sounds. Hasn't been tested at a gig (yet) but I think it would hold up for a small show.

Big improvement over old Vox VT40 which I have gigged for years. Looks great, better speaker cabinet, easier to use controls, great to have a dedicatred pre-amp and a power amp valve. Main power control is an output stage attenuator - so you can run the amp flat out at whatever volume you want and still get the required distortion.Shame the output to PA is still a mini-jack socket though.That said a brilliant amp, would pay more for it!

Very good amp in this price bracket. Good range of amp models to select, straight forward controls. More versatile than my AC30 and half the weight. Only used at rehearsalsto date but seems powerful enough for small venues.Would recommend VFS5 foot switch for live work.

If you’re looking for a quality valve tone without breaking the bank, then this is the perfect amp. The pre-amp options give you great variety to dial in a classic VOX tone and the power-amp gives you everything you need for practice / small gigs. Built in effects are very good quality and fully customisable too. Lightweight and easy to transport. You will not get a better sounding amp for this price point.

It was watching a video review by another music shop which sold me on the Vox, and I am not disappointed.I love the concept of analogue modelling the different amp types (rather than digital), and they sound faithful to my ears. Obviously the AC15/30 (Crunch) modes sound as good as you'd expect, but all are impressive and serve a specific sonic purpose. For such a respectable looking unit, the HiGains are pure filth, and I can't stop playing with them...!Aesthetically, it's probably not everyone's cup of tea; it does look a bit like something my gran gave me from the 50's, but I do really like it, and there are some very clever and functional design features (side-set, front mounted speaker, solid baffle and rounded cabinet corners to improve resonance, and a front-facing bass port).Unfortunately due to our pandemic circumstances I haven't been able to take this to the practice space yet, so it's not been past half volume, but I think my neighbours can vouch for it's noise making capacity.... Oh, it's good. Very good. You can really get that dynamic valve response. I cannot wait to get it out of the house!Potential improvements? Corner protectors might be a good idea. Also I think including just the 2 function foot pedal would be sensible, then if people want to upgrade to the 5 function pedal they can (not me; alongside my other pedals, I'd get too confused!).Very happy. Best Amp I've ever had.Oh, and it glows a lovely shade of blue....

Review of Vox AV30 Analog Valve Amplifier

Brilliant amp that lives up to the hype. You can tell it has that "valve" organic tone after using dsp modelling amps for years before purchasing this model. Warmth, clarity and natural breakup all come easy to this amp with three models to choose from; the AV15 15w 8" , AV30 30w 10" and the AV60 60w 12". I have purchased both the AV15 and now this AV30 from Andertons with the same service!I highly recommend this amp to those seeking an affordalbe valve amp with a more natural sound in a world full of dsp modelling amps that can sometimes seem sterile and clinical sounding in comparison. Well done to VOX!

Review of Vox AV60 Analog Valve Amplifier

Absolutely AMAZING - Anderton's are ffffaaaannnntttaaasssttttiiiccccc!!!Great service, brilliant customer service and communication and the products of the highest quality!The AV60 is such a good amp - especially for the price - and can easily be a 'gigging amp' as well as an amp at home. I use my full pedal board (27 pedals) through the amp and the AV60 takes all of them well!

Fantastic looking amp. Love the sound And tone. I have brought some amps over the years but for the money and value is the best I have found. Perfect for gigging more than loud enough for a medium venue. I love it.
