VS Sassoon Hydro Smooth Straight & Curl - VSS3290A

Love this straightener and curler all in one! Perfect for my girls, one who has straight hair and the other curly, for when they both want a change or to create matching hairstyles. Careful. It can burn.

I bought this to replace my broken Phillips Hair straightener. I was attracted to it's 2 in 1 feature. However, because it is also a curler, the body is extremely hot. If you have short hair, extreme care is needed when you apply this close to the base of your neck as you could burn yourself. I find it also tends to dry out hair with it's high temperature. The hydro function seems non- effective to me.

Do not waste your money

It does not get hot enough to straighten hair quickly. I have not had any luck with the curler; it just does not work - at least for my long hair. Trying to get my hair wrapped around the stick (which is very awkward) I burned my neck. All in all I am very unhappy with this purchase. I feel I wasted my money by buying a two-in-one machine that does not do either job properly.

Doesn’t live up to the hype.

Haven’t noticed any smoothing or hydrating properties to this straightener. Have used it 5 times so far & I’m still waiting for the benefits. My hair gets caught in the hinge, & then breaks trying to extricate the caught strand. It’s definitely bulkier to use compared to my previous straightener…I’m a petite person, with small hands & shoulder length hair, so may be suited to someone with longer hair &/or bigger hands for dexterity. Seems very fiddly for something that’s meant to make your mornings easier. I’m forever burning my ears, neck or scalp when using it as well because even on the lowest temp, the barrel is super hot & cannot be touched in any way. I did try to curl with it once too & that was a waste of my time…only waved my hair slightly for a short period of time. Previous device could curl & the style would hold for a couple of days, not less than an hour. Again, may be due to the fact I don’t feel it’s holding the hair properly within the clamps. I usually buy lots of VS products & this one has been a disappointment. When things like this happen to me, it puts me off buying anything from the brand tbh.

Hair curler and straightener

A fine mist releases as the hair heats up and leave a perfect size curl. It doesn’t over cook the hair ensures your hair isn’t heat damaged.The only negative is when you are winding the hair it’s easy to accidentally press the buttons to reduce to the lower heat so you need to keep an eye on that the higher heat stays on!Leaves the hair looking shiny and the cord doesn’t get tangled as it swivels. You can straighten or curl in one tool and the handle folds for compact travel storage. I’m extremely fussy and this is the only multi wand I’d spend my money on.

My experience in shopping with Myer

Awsome material has straighter +curler at one stuff, easy to use and doesn't damage the hair such a lovable thing I have ever shopped not only this i have bought so many electronic things from Myer as well as clothes also. I never went to another shopping center after getting the Myer. It has exchange policy just wow last time I bought clothes for gifting someone and they gave me a gift receipt so that if size deosn't get fit we can have exchange.

Terrible

I bought this a few months ago and it turned out to be a terrible buy. It's very clumsy to use and heavy. I have burnt myself several times trying to curl my long hair and it often gets caught and pulls my hair out. The straightener doesn't get hot enough so I can only do small sections at a time and I can't get too close to my scalp as it burns. I'm going to throw mine out and buy a better more expensive brand.

Tip is too small

This item is so nice because I can use straight and curl both! Heat time is fast! But unfortunately, When I use this, my hand hits the switch, so many times the temperature drops. Why did you put a switch in such a place ... I think. Also, there is no problem when straightening, but when curlin, I hold the hair with my right hand and place my left hand on the tip of the iron, but this iron has a small tip, so it is difficult to use my left hand.

VS Hydro Smooth Straight & Curl & heated rollers

A dual purpose gadget. Folds over to make it more convenient for travel or storage. I have rather long hair and normally use VS heated rollers which produce much better curls. Just thought I would try to get a different effect with the Hydro Smooth but takes longer to do and less effective.

Very awkward and very hot to handle

I did think the combination straightener and curling tong was a brilliant idea but this is very very awkward to use. I’ve burned my neck and my hands trying to manipulate it using the straightening function and the curl. It’s only capable of very small sections at a time and all in all this is a big - and dangerous- mistake.
