The Weber Q 1200 Portable Gas Grill delivers powerful performance in a compact body. It delivers 8,500 BTU-per-hour from liquid propane tanks, so you get a clean burn for as long as you need and, with its tables extended, the entire setup measures about 40 inches wide. The Weber Q 1200 grill relies on cast-iron, porcelain-coated grates to maximize heat retention during cooking. The unit's overall grilling surface measures 189 square inches. Its heat comes from adjustable flames, which use 14.1 and 16.4-ounce propane cylinders as fuel. The Weber Q 1200 Gas Grill uses an aluminum construction to prevent corrosion. It features an electric starter and an adjustable fuel valve for added convenience. The unit also includes a drip-tray for faster cleanup.

At one point during the summer we were using this grill everyday to cook lunch and dinner and on the odd occasion even breakfast using the optional griddle plate. The Q1200 follows similar design language to previous Weber Q models however, there are some notable features in the Q1200 that make the tiny price premium over the standard Q1000 worth splurging on. These features include sturdy thermoplastic side tables that fold into the grill for storage, a temperature gauge, increased dome height (great if you like cooking taller items like whole chickens), and lastly, a fully electronic ignition system that is fast, easy, and reliable to use.The grill's interior sports a porcelain enamel coated cast iron cooking grate that is strategically designed to shield the gas ports (to prevent clogging and flare ups) on the burner from the food drippings. Heat is very even and can get hot enough to sear steaks without much effort. The gas inlet port is integrated with the gas pressure regulator and is designed such that it can accommodate the standard 1lb propane camping cylinders or be used with larger home style BBQ tanks using the accessory gas hose. While this grill is typically marketed to ideally cook for 4 that in reality, this grill has EASILY cooked for 6-10 people. The grill space is generous and the height of the domed lid allows you to push food right to the edge of the grill to maximize your cooking space. I’ve cooked 5 large steaks, a whole chicken along and have made an entire 3 course breakfast for 6 using the accessory griddle plate.Cleanup is a cinch as the grill's smooth curving design allows fat and grease to slide into a generously sized drip tray located centrally at the bottom of the grill. The cooking grates, while mostly cleanable by simply burning it off can be easily removed in 2 small sections and soaked in a sink of warm soapy water.Weber not only created the perfect portable grill but they’ve escalated the Q name into another world by offering an entire ecosystem of Q series accessories. The list of useful add-ons is extensive and allows a Q owner to scale their grill to suit their needs. I’d argue this grill is so versatile that it can likely outperform (if not outright replace) lesser home BBQs.I have trusted the Weber name for the past 20 years and expect nothing but quality and perfection and the Weber Q1200 is no exception. Its extremely well made and I would expect this thing to easily last me 20+ years. Like all Weber products, you can buy replacement parts for their grills at VERY reasonable prices much of which, are still available for 30+ year old products.Look no further if you’re considering a compact grill. Nothing in this size and price class can even compete with the Q series grill. Competitors have tried numerous times to make a better product but end up copying elements of Weber’s design. I guess copying and mimicking a Weber Grill is the greatest form of flattery after all :)

Excellent grill with a pretty good regulator
15 December 2022

I purchased the Q1200 after researching reliable and high performance portable grills for RV camping. I need high enough output to give a good sear, enough area to cook a couple of courses at a time for 2-4 people, and roomy enough to fit a small Dutch oven for baking, but compact and light enough for the portability needed in my Aliner Classic. This meets all those needs and I highly recommend it. I purchased the optional griddle half which increases its usefulness to breakfast (eggs, hashbrowns, bacon/sausages) and grilling vegetables without having to clean dishes, a definite bonus.I found two drawbacks in the Q1200 regulator. I purchased the optional griddle half which increases its usefulness to breakfast (eggs, hashbrowns, bacon/sausages) and grilling vegetables without having to clean dishes, a definite bonus.I found two drawbacks in the Q1200 regulator. The first is that it does not turn the flame down to a low enough setting (it generally won't go below 300 degrees on the built in thermometer) reducing the ability to simmer for long times or smoke meats on the go (with a pellet tube). For this reason I give the grill 4 stars and not 5.The second, temporary but more serious, problem (well-handled by Weber) was a failure of the regulator entirely. I have a hose to run the grill off the main propane tank and eliminate green cans (cheaper, more reliable, and more ecologically friendly). This worked extremely well all summer over 18 nights, but on a fall camp out it would not light. After unsuccessfully trying the "regulator reset" instructions found numerous places online I was certain the regulator was faulty and needed replacement.Weber customer service is definite plus and I was helped at the call center by a terrific agent who made me confident I was going to get the correct part which Weber shipped without cost and I got within two days. Clear and easy replacement instructions and about 15 minutes and we are off and ready to go again. In short this is a terrific and convenient powerhouse of a portable grill and if the regulator tuned it down to a lower level it would be perfect.

Great little camp grill
17 May 2022

So I bought my first Weber Genesis Grill this past Christmas to replace a 25-year old grill of a different manufacturer that I'd had since new. It was reliable as a rock, had 3 rebuilds over the years but the poor thing was ready to fall apart. The Genesis grill was a terrific upgrade and gave me an idea of the quality of the Weber brand. We got a new travel trailer in January 2022 and we needed a reliable grill to take on our camping excursions. Naturally, I started looking at a suitable Weber grill to fill that need. After much looking at all of the various "portable" models I decided on the Q1200 since we didn't really need anything bigger since it's just the wife and myself. The Q1200 is a great little grill for our camping excursions. After much looking at all of the various "portable" models I decided on the Q1200 since we didn't really need anything bigger since it's just the wife and myself. The Q1200 is a great little grill for our camping excursions. It's neat and compact and it's almost like they designed it to fit in the storage compartment of our Arctic Fox 25W camper.I did buy an aftermarket 8-foot braided stainless steel adapter hose to be able to use a 20# propane tank versus the 1# disposable canisters because of the ridiculous cost of the 1# canisters that are about 4X the cost of bulk propane. The adapter hose still allows the use of the 1# canisters if that is what you have available without any modifications to the grill.Ultimately, I might modify the grill to hook up directly to the camper's propane system, but that's down the road. The grill itself works great for 2-3 people though it loses heat very fast when the lid is opened to flip the burgers, hotdogs, chicken or steaks. You definitely have to cook with the lid closed. From my experience, you'll get maybe 2-3 grill sessions out of a 1# canister so you'd better take several with you if that is your choice of fuel sources. With the 20# tank it's not much of a concern as you can lift the tank and readily tell if you have enough fuel for a camping trip. If it's low, fill the 20# tank up for $10-$12 @ $3/gallon.Make sure you get spare aluminum pans to catch the drippings out of the bottom of the grill too. They tend to blow away if it gets windy and they definitely are needed if you're cooking steaks or chicken as the meat tends to drip A LOT!

I love it! I should have bought it sooner!

I originally bought a cheaper portable propane grill, but it never got hot enough, it would dry out my meat and not sear it. After a ton of wasted food and frustration, I finally decided to splurge and buy the Weber Q1200. It heats up fast and gives my food a perfect sear. It makes grilling so easy! I was nervous about the Q1200 not being big enough for our family of 5, but it’s perfect and fits nicely in our camper. (I originally ordered the Q2000 but it was way too big to transport so I sent it back and got the Q1200). My only complaint (and it’s hardly a complaint), is that on the right handle, the propane assembly and tank blocks your fingers from getting a proper grip on the handle which makes carrying the grill a little bit difficult. My third Weber grill
11 May 2023

This is my third Weber grill and my first Weber tabletop model. I recently purchased the Q1200 to replace a different brand as my new RV grill. I BBQed on three separate nights: salmon, ribeye and chicken thighs. The unit operated as it should. There was a learning curve to place the meat on the grill at the correct temperature as not to have the burner flame up and burn the meat. The grates are heavy and retain the heat so from my experience, reducing the flame to low doesn't immediately lower the cooking temp. The grill preheated to 500 degrees at highest setting and I had to lower the setting after placing the meat on the grill. On my third use only preheated to 375, no flame up. I recently purchased the Q1200 to replace a different brand as my new RV grill. I BBQed on three separate nights: salmon, ribeye and chicken thighs. The unit operated as it should. I am planning on cooking a whole chicken as a friend recommended. He stated it possible due to the dome style hood design. The folding side tables are handy but for my use there not really needed. Overall, I would recommend this grill to cook for 1 to 4 persons.

Unlike a certain other "Q"... This Q is for REAL!

Perfect grill for empty-nesters, young couples, and the like. Just the right size for dinners for two! Much more efficient with propane than firing up the big grill and faster & less fuss than breaking out the charcoal. The Q is now my #1 grill and all the others are relegated to "special events". The design of the Q is very well thought out and all of the accessories, such as the cart, the 20lb tank hose, and even the grill cover work seamlessly together - Like they were actually designed to work as a system! And yet, you can quickly ditch all the extras, grab one of the little 1lb propane tanks you get from the hardware store, and head out with a light, self-contained, set-up that's perfect for a picnic at the beach or tailgating - the Q is versatile!I was ... MorePerfect grill for empty-nesters, young couples, and the like. Absolutely NOT an issue! I'm not sure if it's the burner design, the burner spacing, or whatever magic Weber's come up with but it cooks like it's BTU rating is 5X greater than stated!Simply put, the Weber Q is awesome! I only wish I'd gotten one sooner.

As someone who never cooks, I was worried I'd spend all this money on the Q1200 and cart and use it once. (My previous grill was a monster that I used 3 times in 20 years.) But I love it and am using it several times a week. In fact, I just made a Portobello mushroom cap "burger" on a toasted bun for lunch! The Q1200's just a super, compact and convenient grill that takes up little space on my deck. It feels lighter than I expected -- most of the weight is in the grates. The flip-out shelves are an awesome convenience. The grill temperature easily climbs to it's maximum -- you have to keep an eye on it. The grilling surface is large enough to easily handle a large cut up chicken, and cooks quickly. (I've had an easier time cooking chicken to juicy perfection on this Q1200 than I do when using an oven, especially the large split breasts.) Depending on what you're cooking, you could easily feed 6-8 people with this grill -- probably even more.Even though the cooking surface is smaller than a regular size grill, it's comprised of two separate grates, which makes them easy to handle and transport as they're heavy. (I often just use one side which minimizes the number of grates I have to clean.) Of course, the split surface also provides the option to switch out one side for a griddle plate. (I bought the plate, but have yet to try it.) It's also notable that the grill grates are broad with less space in between, which means you can throw some fairly small things on there without food falling through.I initially used the small 1lb propane bottles as I wasn't sure how much I'd grill (I otherwise NEVER cook); but I've been using the Q1200 so much that I transitioned to a regular propane tank. It was very easy to set it up with the adapter hose and the propane tank. Fortunately, I was aware that using a tank can trigger a safety mechanism that prevents the grill from fully heating. There are helpful instructions on the Weber website on how to prevent that so I've had no issues. The Q1200's been pretty easy to clean, but I'm diligent about cleaning after every use. Burning everything off with high heat, and then using a grill brush is a FALLACY though. The Weber Grill Grate cleaner helps quite a bit with degreasing and the removal of charred buts. I also spray on liquid detergent and let the grates sit in the sink a few minutes. Again, it's wonderful having compact grates when it comes to cleaning.I highly recommend getting the rolling cart designed for the Q series. It's lightweight but sufficiently stable, and puts the grill at the perfect height. (However, I have not tried transporting the grill and cart anywhere to test their mobility.)Seriously, I can't recommend this enough
