I have four cats, ages 4 years to 22 years old. All four cats love this food! It tastes good, smells good, and is easy to eat for my cat (unknown age) who has Cerebellar hypoplasia and consequently has only 4 teeth. She came to us from a nearby park where she had been abandoned. She is very sweet despite her disabilities. And gives my other three rescue cats a "run for their money." We first fed her "Tiny Tiger" brand food from Chewie and has since graduated to eating Signature selects products all purchased from Chewie.

My cat has tried and turned her nose up at the following wet foods: Cat Person (both the paté and the flakey formulation, Fresh Pet, Stella & Chewy dehydrated freeze dried (Rabbit, Chicken, Fish, none of them she really liked), Smalls for Cats, Fancy Feast, Wellness Core Paté (this one actually made her throw up) Tiki Cat, and Blue Buffalo. She is OBSESSED with this food, specifically this Tuna & Wild Salmon one. She is so happy!!! In the two weeks she has been on this food she looks more trim, has completely stopped shedding, I’m literally vacuuming less, her teeth look better, and she just overall seems a happier. She gets soooo excited for this food!!! I’m hoping she continues to like it. FISH SCALES IN FOOD, HORRID VOMITING

I recently switched my cat over to this in an effort to find something that was higher quality. That being said, she absolutely loved it and licked the whole plate clean which gave me high hopes. Within fifteen minutes, she vomited. I figured that I hadn’t introduced it to her slow enough or that it was a fluke since she seemed to enjoy it so much. The entirely of the week, she vomited every single time after eating this, multiple times might I add including in her litter box. Upon further examination, I looked closer at the food when I was giving it to her and I found NOT ONE BUT TWO FISH SCALES. I’m talking huge silver scales. Wet cat food is always gross to look at but I have never been more disgusted upon finding that, especially in food that is not only costly ... MoreI recently switched my cat over to this in an effort to find something that was higher quality. Chewy is amazing and I was able to get a refund and donate it to a local shelter but never again. As soon as I stopped giving this to her the vomiting also stopped. I’m very disappointed and so is my cat since I thought I was giving her something healthy and she loved the taste of it but it caused horrible stomach problems. Not sure if it’s this specific flavor or the fact that it’s produced in Thailand? After reading through some of the reviews I read that someone else had also found fish scales in the food too. Either way, never again.

My cat had diarrhea from it
17 September 2024

My cat loves it typically. He almost never have any digestive problem, and I never had problem before till the lasted 12-pack I bought. A couple weeks ago, I fed him a can (4th can in the 12-pack), he had diarrhea. I wasn't sure what was the cause - then I tried to eliminate various components of his diet/treats to find the source - I stopped all wet food and gave him only dry food, he recovered from diarrhea. Then I gave him a different wet food, he was still good. Then today, I gave him this one, and he had diarrhea again just now. I think this one (Flaked Skipjack Tuna & Wild Salmon) is likely the source of his diarrhea, though I won't risk testing again.

My picky guy’s favorite food!
20 November 2023

Our almost 2 year old now stopped eating his wet food he’d eaten the first year of his life, and protested by scratching at the bowl that he did not like it. (Previously fed normal wellness variety pack)So this past year we’ve been on a journey trying different flavors, brands, textures and since finding this he has yet to leave it uneaten. We do add Tiny Tigers treat topper on top as well. But even with other brands he will lick off the treat topper and leave the went food untouched! Both of the flaked variety’s of the wellness core Salmon and Tuna and Salmon and Shrimp are a hit.

Part of my cat's regular rotation in meals
10 September 2024

My cat is a fish and gravy girl. This food has been in her regular rotation of meals for about 4 years. The price has increased by a few dollars recently which limits how much of it I can purchase for her. Given the increase in cost, it would be helpful if the can would contain at least .2 more ounces of food (currently it contains 2.8 ounces/can). My cat usually needs at least 3 ounces of wet food for a meal and I've noticed that with this can, I often have to supplement by giving her other food to go with it because it's not quite enough. I appreciate the higher quality ingredients that Wellness provides. My cat has been eating Wellness wet and dry food since she was a kitten. I'm willing to pay a bit more for better sourced/higher quality food. But given the ... MoreMy cat is a fish and gravy girl. This food has been in her regular rotation of meals for about 4 years. She does enjoy this flavor though. Tuna seems to be her top favorite, but she gobbles up this salmon flavor too.

Poor cans
8 October 2024

My cats loved the food! However, I was not happy that the cans were steel as opposed to the normal aluminum cans I get with fancy feast. Since the lids pull off with a tab I normally crush the can with the lid inside to prevent anyone from getting cut. These cans are very difficult to crush. I had to have my husband do it for me. I only wish they cameIn aluminum cans as I don’t think I will purchase this food again for that reason.

Something Has Changed & Made My Kitties Ill
28 July 2024

My cats have enjoyed this Wellness flavor for 9 years, but something has been "off" lately in both seafood flavors. This past week, after feeding, the two who eat this brand/flavor were both so ill we had to take them to the vet for IV fluids and treatment. The other cat in our house eats a different brand and was fine. The vet determined it was likely this food. I'm heartsick, because they've loved this brand in the past, but the last case or two has been different -- more watery and the cats haven't been as excited about it. Others here (and on Reddit) have had similar experience recently. An expensive trip to the vet was the final deal-breaker; I'm dumping the remaining cans and will start to research an alternative.(Note: the beef/chicken flavor has been fine, ... MoreMy cats have enjoyed this Wellness flavor for 9 years, but something has been "off" lately in both seafood flavors. This is flaked fish?
16 November 2022

Ok, it’s not easy to create a mass market recipe that is both shelf stable and nutritious. I get it. But this is more like a fish slurry for the cat. It’s clearly fish because it has a strong fish odor and the cat gets really excited by it, but I’m not recommending it. My hope was to use this as a counterpoint to the chicken option from this same product line for our cat in mixing a 50/50 wet/dry meal. The goal is to give our mid-aged male enough water in his diet to eliminate or minimize potential for UTIs. The chicken product is great. This one just looks like diarrhea or vomit and is just gross.

Why are there so many bad reviews?
26 May 2020

Like a lot of people on here, my two cats are somewhat picky. My lil’ boy eats most food, even if it’s cold, except for pâté. My girl, however, won’t eat anything that’s too firm, too chunky, or too pasty, and she rarely eats anything that doesn’t have fish in it.They both LOVE this flavor, and the salmon and shrimp one. It has a weird consistency because salmon shreds SUPER easily, and you end up with a clumpy mess if you shred it enough (thus the slightly pasty texture). Also, the “scales” are just the skin. There are no actual scales in the food. The cats who had stomach issues most likely happened because the owners didn’t transition them well. If you introduce a new food too quickly, it’ll cause vomiting and/or diarrhea, though you can mitigate this by giving them probiotics while you transition. It could also be from allergies (fish allergies aren’t that uncommon), or the cat may have a really sensitive stomach. My boy has diarrhea every single time I’ve had to transisiton to a new food, no matter how slowly it’s done. And no, not every cat will like it, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad food. All cats have their own preferences, and mine happen to love fish, so this food is perfect for them.I should also note that I buy the cases at my local pet supply store for $20.99, so this probably affects my opinion of it.
