14TB Enterprise Drive Not Made in China

I use a lot of storage drives to back up large video projects. I used to use Seagate Enterprise drives, but they are made in China, a bad place. It's been less than a month, but I'm trying these Western Digital drives and so far they're working perfectly. They do cost a bit more per TB.

Ahhhhh !

What I wanted existed at the exact same time that I wanted it. Still costs less than a new videocard, shucks, I bought 2 and both of them together still cost less than Ray Tracing. Edit, just bought my 9th all looking good so far

I love it. Looks awesome. If your wanting to organize them I suggest getting the socket organizer from foamfittool.com. They sell organizer especially for the Craftsman 299 peice socket set along with other stuff. I don't work or am I endorsed by them. I am just super happy with my purchases.

Cool Running and Fast
18 July 2023

I was suprised at the difference that the helium makes. These drives barely get warm.I am running 5 in a RAID setup, and the system runs unbelieveably cool.I have used and sold many hard drives in the last 40 years, but these are the most reliable that I have ever seen. I had previously rated WD second behind Hitachi, but since WD bought Hitachi's line of drives, I will use no others.

Fast, reliable and almost infinite space...
18 July 2023

I've been using this drive for more than 4 years. SMART data shows it's in excellent state, no failures of any kind, I use it 8-14 hours a day. Before I made my decision, I read a lot of reviews, specs and drive comparisions. HGST has an excellent reputation. I know this is a drive for data centers but I use it in my PC. The drive is fast (compared to HD drives of course), booting windows is slow (5-10 min), but after the PC starts it's very fast, sometimes I wait a little bit for a big program or game to start, but it's irrelevant. I have 32GB RAM and maybe that helps because Windows uses the available RAM as disk cache (running a program for the second time is almost instantaneous). I have 32GB RAM and maybe that helps because Windows uses the available RAM as disk cache (running a program for the second time is almost instantaneous). With so much space I can do whatever I need like video recording and editing, storing all my games and music, backup of DVD's, many virtual PC's (with 8, 32 or 64GB virtual HD's), database servers for development, and all my projects. I have used only half of its capacity. The drive is not noisy (spinning) but you will hear the heads as they move on, some people doesn't like that (however I don't like completly silent drives because it gives me the impression that the drive doesn't run at full speed just to keep it quiet). I'm planning to install an SSD to increase booting time, it's worth mentioning that starting a virtual PC with windows is significantly faster than booting the real PC, maybe because of all of the drivers/controllers, who knows. When the time comes for the disk to show signs of degradation, I will not hesitate to replace it with the latest model of this HD.

We got these on special, which at the time was an amazing price. We bought 15 for our NASs & they worked great.

Misleading
21 March 2021

This drive works great! I am not experiencing noises as some of the other reviewers have and the read and write performance is excellent. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because while attempting to register this product, Western Digital informed me that this is an OEM drive and that OEM drives are not covered under Western Digital nor HGST warranties. Consequently, I had to add the insurance add-on to get this drive covered for at least 3 years.

New Craftsman sockets
10 October 2018

Are they still good yes I believe they are. Very nice fit and finish tight on the bolt and nuts and easy to read see no more quests looking for a light to see the size. Good value is a long lasting tool these are a good value.

Nice tools at an exceptional price!
20 February 2019

Very nice looking socket set. Rated 5 stars because it is exceptional considering the cost. I have experienced only one flaw so far, the holes through some of the sockets were found to be quite small, making for a problem when using several types of organizers. Minor problem though as I was able to drill them to proper size. I find them very nice cosmetically and the size markings all seemed to be well done. Only time will tell if they hold up like the other Craftsman tools I have owned for many years. All told, I am very satisfied.

Noisy when idle
18 June 2022

I intended to use it as a rarely accessed device, so picked one with low 20dB idle noise and didn't care about the seek noise. However, even when idle (and even when the SATA data connection is not plugged, only power is), it produces a loud seek noise. Apparently it's a new feature of WD.Update: Ok, now I actually start using it and it turns out that that "every 5 seconds" noise wasn't loud. The ACTUAL seek noise is what is loud!
