Great price for a He drive this big, and Backblaze's quarterly failure reports show a very low failure rate for this specific model as of Q3 2022.I checked the drive SMART data after opening the sealed anti-static bag, and didn't find anything to be alarmed about such as power-on hours or data errors.The only thing buyers might want to be aware of is that the sticker on the drive indicates both of mine were manufactured in Sep 2019. That was over 3 years ago. Otherwise, I find nothing to be concerned about.[Dec 17 2022]These drives use that new SATA power standard. A standard SATA power connector fits, but the drives won't spin up unless you put tape over the 3rd pin from the left. I hear there are adapters you can get to adapt the power, but I did the tape trick. You may need to google this if you're not familiar with it. Otherwise I've got two of these in a ZFS mirror on Proxmox, and they're working great.

Best Bargain Bang For Your Buck in a High Capacity SATA HD

I've purchased several of these renewed drives from GoHardDrive. They have always arrived quickly, in pristine condition, and work flawlessly. As long as they're available and maintain the best cost per TB money can buy, I'll keep buying them as my library keeps growing. Probably needless to say, I recommend you try them too.

Fast, reliable and almost infinite space...

I've been using this drive for more than 4 years. SMART data shows it's in excellent state, no failures of any kind, I use it 8-14 hours a day. Before I made my decision, I read a lot of reviews, specs and drive comparisions. HGST has an excellent reputation. I know this is a drive for data centers but I use it in my PC. The drive is fast (compared to HD drives of course), booting windows is slow (5-10 min), but after the PC starts it's very fast, sometimes I wait a little bit for a big program or game to start, but it's irrelevant. I have 32GB RAM and maybe that helps because Windows uses the available RAM as disk cache (running a program for the second time is almost instantaneous). I have used only half of its capacity. The drive is not noisy (spinning) but you will hear the heads as they move on, some people doesn't like that (however I don't like completly silent drives because it gives me the impression that the drive doesn't run at full speed just to keep it quiet). I'm planning to install an SSD to increase booting time, it's worth mentioning that starting a virtual PC with windows is significantly faster than booting the real PC, maybe because of all of the drivers/controllers, who knows. When the time comes for the disk to show signs of degradation, I will not hesitate to replace it with the latest model of this HD.
