I have been camping my whole life and finally got a yeti cooler. It is totally worth it. Besides it staying cooler longer- I love the latches to close it and the shape of the inside. The latches seem like they might wear out with use but they are amazing. I no longer get paranoid that someone didn’t shut the cooler correctly and it’s heating up. The rope handles seem like an odd choice but I’ve had plenty of plastic handles break off coolers as well so I wouldn’t say it’s a negative. The other thing I love is the interior. I’m not sure what it is about it but for me it just feels easier to pack efficiently. It’s easy to pack into our car (it is heavier but nothing crazy), it’s sturdy, I love the variety of colors so it’s not such an eye sore on our campsite. I didn’t realize how much better a cooler could be, it makes my vacations even more relaxing because I have less to worry about now

OK, I already had one, but I needed a 2nd. And I got it in the cool Arctic Blue color. We have definitely become a YETI family. I still can't believe how long things stay cold in this cooler, even in the heat of summer in a hot car. I bought a 2nd actually for grocery shopping trips. We live about 1.5 hours from the largest metro area, and occasionally I need to buy the things I can't live without. And often they are fresh and need to be in a cooler. Plus my favorite butcher is there too. The Yeti 45 fits perfectly back to front in the rear of my Forrester. And now I can bring two. It was definitely a strategic purchase and getting it with a small discount from Moosejaw helped.

This product is really efficient. That said my moms Lifetime 65 from Walmart is also really efficient and it’s 1/3 the price with a lot more room : /I have the Rodie Yeti also and got this one for longer trips. Used once for a weekend backpacking trip and water bottles still ice. (Save yourself $30 and freeze large water bottles over the Yeti ice packs… those thaw so much faster)Also considered Rtic after a lot of research.I purchased this with a Labor Day sale price and if it weren’t for that I would definitely return for larger and different less expensive brand.Would suggest you size up to 50 or 65 if considered Yeti and price isn’t a concern. You need 1/3 ice to food.. which doesn’t leave you with a lot of space. Honest review! Great cooler! First, I gave this cooler 4 stars because I took into account the price and the overall internal size. PROS: The build quality is great; robust, sturdy and well made. Doubles as a great seat. Gasket around the lids seal the internal tempurature of the cooler. It has rubber under the cooler to keep it from sliding in the trunk of the SUV. Easy to open and close with the rubber latches (with a packed trunk doesn’t need much space to unlatch) CONS: Big cooler, small internal compartment (the walls of the cooler is thick). Price: Compared to what is out there, it’s expensive but then again it’s a Yeti. Branding is everything. If it’s on sale.... GET IT! usually excluded from sales on other websites and stores. It’s a little heavy for all that plastic. Needs 2 people to carry it unless you ares strong or have a buggy. THINGS TO EXPECT OVER TIME: scratches on the walls of the cooler. Aside from that, Im happy with my purchase.
I have only used this cooler a few times. The first time ice melted quicker than I was expecting, but I thought maybe I just hadn’t clasped it properly. More recently, I took it to Joshua Tree in mid march and experienced that ice was melting in 1 day and was kept in the shade. I thought for sure it was a manufacture defect, but upon attempting to swap it out at my local REI in SLC, I was informed by the manager, Angie, that I needed to use chemical packs and cool it before use for it to keep ice and that nothing was wrong with it. To top things off, I bought it 13 months ago, so the 100% satisfaction guarantee doesn’t apply. Don’t waste your money on this unless you are willing to use chemical packs and pre-cool it. I’m honestly baffled!
Car camping - left on a Thursday to Crested Butte, CO and returned on Tuesday (so 6-ish days). We did pre-treat the cooler per the instructions, didn’t overload it and also put 2 of those re-freezable ice packs (that ship with food to keep cold) on the bottom before filling with ice. We were impressed that the Yeti held up to hype! When we came back there was still ice chunks in the cooler/water and the frozen ice packs were a “hard slushy” and not completely melted (like they had been in the past). One random thing - the original Yeti I picked up “brand new” out of the packaging had some scuff marks and a scratch on the lid already. I know the cooler is going to get scuffed/scratched, but for the price these things are we want to be the ones to put them there ... MoreCar camping - left on a Thursday to Crested Butte, CO and returned on Tuesday (so 6-ish days). Yeti touts how durable and tough these coolers are but I will say my experience was the exact opposite. We got it to go car camping & after having a $30 Coleman cooler the last 8 years where your ice is gone by day 2 we decided it was time to spend an obscene amount of money on a Tundra, because it would last forever. Well… we brought it car camping ONCE and it was ruined.Turns out, putting your Yeti cooler on a hitch rack on a Subaru Forester is not something I encourage unless it’s on the opposite side of the exhaust.Yes, exhaust is hot, we know, but we’ve had our Coleman in the same spot for years and never had a problem so we didn’t think twice with a cooler that can stand up to a bear. Boy, were we wrong. The exhaust melted the side off down to the foam.We ... MoreYeti touts how durable and tough these coolers are but I will say my experience was the exact opposite. We got it to go car camping & after having a $30 Coleman cooler the last 8 years where your ice is gone by day 2 we decided it was time to spend an obscene amount of money on a Tundra, because it would last forever. Boy, were we wrong. The exhaust melted the side off down to the foam.We had it a foot back and a foot offset and it still ruined this cooler. Also it got pretty scratched up and we’re the type that’s pretty good to our gear so if you have a darker cooler, keep that in mind.I have an additional star because despite it melting, we still had ice.I was also really disappointed both Yeti and REI said “that really sucks but there’s nothing we can do.” Not even a way to fix it. So we’re out $400 (more w. accessories) and I now have negative feelings towards two brands I used to be incredibly proud to support. All in all, I used to be a huge Yeti fan. I own about 22 of their products but after this, I likely will look elsewhere.
Perfect personal size. I bought it for a primary purpose of resting meats after i take them off my smoker. It can fit quite a few briskets, racks of ribs and a bunch of pork butts. Not all together of course. The meat stays very hot inside the cooler for several hours. I haven’t needed to rest or keep warm for a full day but with how hot the meat is after 2-4 hours, i believe it would definitely stay warm for quite a while. Of course meat is wrapped in foil or butcher paper then towels over it. Only downside is portability but i bought a foldable wagon on Walmart and the cooler literally fits perfectly inside and BOOM, just like that is super easy to move.
100% deserves its legendary reputation. As much as I would prefer to load the cooler as close to departure time as possible that doesn’t really work for my setup, meaning that the cooler sits in the hot trunk of a few hours before we even leave. I put the 4lbs Yeti Ice in the bottom and used 2 bags of ice. Put that in a pre chilled cooler at 10am on Friday. At 5pm on Sunday I got home and opened the drain. Very little water came out and the amount of fully formed ice cubes left in the cooler was just amazing.I do also use the Roadie 24 for beverages, but the performance is undeniably amazing on this cooler. Also with very little food prep the 45 had more than enough space for food for two adults for two nights of camping, could stretch to at least three or even ... More100% deserves its legendary reputation.
