Yves Saint Laurent Le Cushion Encre De Peau Foundation

I received this product for free from Influencer & was excited to get to try it. I have always loved cushion foundations & CC creams. The packagingis gorgeous and sturdy, and like most cushions it's refillable. It's a little disappointing that this doesn't also come with a refill like the K beauty brands i have purchased cushions from previously, especially at that price point.As for the foundation itself, I received Shade 10 which works for my fair skin, I could have probably also gotten away with shade 20 as well since I tend to apply all face products quite sheerly. Some of the extremely dry areas of my skin (as it's currently winter) did need a lighter hand with the application to prevent it catching on those areas but overall it still wore very well.I will continue to use the product up over a longer time so l can really judge how this compares to others I have used and if that justifies the cost, it's a really good product but does have some stiff competitian and may be better suited to the warmer months. If you are looking to try it I don't think you would be disappointed, but there are comparable products on the market for considerably less.

Amazing formula and gorgeous packaging

I received this foundation complimentary from Influenster to test out. I love it. I am extremely picky with foundation during Canadian winter as my skin has more texture and tends to be on the very dry side. Most foundations setting into my lines and look weird around my nose. I wasn’t super hopeful as there is only one foundation I will wear during winter. I applied this with a beauty blender and it applied beautifully. I would say it was full coverage how I used it and the color was the best match of any foundation I’ve ever tried. I usually go for porcelain/fair neutral tones. Beautiful and radiant finish! Need more shades.

I received this product complimentary from Influenster in exchange for my honest review. True to form for YSL, the compact itself is honestly just so beautiful and feels incredibly luxurious. It looks and feels high end with the signature black leather quilted on top and gold YSL logo embossed in the centre. I also really love that it has a good sized mirror inside! I did use this for a couple of weeks and I feel like that was enough time to determine how I feel about it. The formula itself is meant to be medium and buildable coverage though, personally, I find it fairly lightweight yet still buildable. The shade range seems pretty out to lunch for a company like YSL; you’d think they would have more inclusive shades than the 12 they offer. I chose the lightest shade (10b) because I do have a fair and neutral skin tone, but it was too light for me, unfortunately. Sadly, the next shade up would have been far too warm for me. The formula feels very lightweight and not sticky for a cushion foundation :) It is super buildable but feels like a lighter finish for me, which is nice for the summer :) Throughout the day, my skin remains feeling moisturized and oil-free, thanks to the anti-shine oil control formula. Keep in mind that I’m definitely a hydrated girly and staying hydrated is absolutely key for maintaining that healthy, moisturized glow throughout the day! I also find that I’m not touching up as often with this foundation, which means less frequent refill purchases! I’ll probably purchase the refills during the Spring and Summer when I like a more natural makeup look. I do love that this is refillable and I can use it simply as a compact until the Spring rolls around :) Definitely recommend this for someone looking for a beautiful and radiant glow and doesn’t mind paying for a little luxury in their lives!

When it comes to coverage, I like that you can build it up or just apply a sheer layer if you want to even out skin tone and just have a very natural no makeup look. Its lightweight and just looks luxurious in person. I was sent the colour B10 and I would say its a good match. The puff comes inside with a plastic divider so the foundation doesn't dry out. My first time applying I used too much, so just tap gently on the foundation. I would say the finish is more dewy. I have dry skin and say it does cling to some patches but can probably be avoided with a primer or thicker moisturizer, at least for myself. I ended up using a powder overtop in certain areas that will look oily by the end of the day. Not my favourite

I received this foundation for free from Influenster, and I tried it in a few different ways over the last two weeks. I consider myself lucky that the lightest shade, B10, matches my skin, since shade range is very limited. Often when foundations have just a few shades, the lightest one can be too dark for me. I only need a small amount, and although the cushion that comes with it is good for applying the foundation to the skin, or for quick touch-ups, I got much better results using a makeup brush to buff it into the skin. Why I didn't love it - it breaks up on my skin. I first tried it on bare, cleansed and moisturized skin, and this was a BIG no-go. It literally melted. Then I went all in, with a great primer and a setting spray (the All-Nighter). This lasted a bit longer, but not by much. The best results I got were when I did my skincare with hydrating, but not too moisturizing layers, waited 2h+, used a silicone based primer, the foundation, a setting powder and the previously mentioned setting spray. Even then it didn't last till the evening. I have dry/combo skin, and I find that this foundation emphasized texture (pores, lines, even whiteheads), although it didn't dry out my skin, which was a plus. But it did make my slightly oily T-zone oilier somehow, and it first started breaking down around my nose. It's just too much work for less than perfect results.

Maybe I was doing something wrong, but I found the formula would move around a lot which made it hard to get uniform coverage. I eventually managed to get a light layer on, but was not able to build it up at all. I did really like the packaging for this product and felt that it was really well thought out and designed. There is a flip out cap that covers the product so it doesn't dry out and an indent in that cap where you store the applicator. There is also a nice mirror.
