This lip product is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I really do love everything about it. Well, except for maybe the price. It's $38 USD. But other than that, it's pretty much perfect. It has the perfect amount of pigment. The perfect amount of gloss. It's not too thick or too thin. It's not sticky. It's very lightweight and hydrating. I don't know how they made this gloss/stain, but it must be magic or something. This really is a long wearing gloss. The actual glossy finish of it stays glossy for a long time, and the color/pigment part doesn't budge, at all. Even after the glossy finish wears off, the color isn't going anywhere. It truly is an all day lip color product. There are "alternatives" (not EXACT dupes) for this at the drugstore, but they aren't nearly as good. I ... MoreThis lip product is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! That's how much I love this lippie. Plus, it's YSL. The packaging is gorgeous and it just makes you feel fancy 🤣 The color I have is 103 Pink Taboo

I am a big fan of the YSL glossy stains - I own several of them and use them on nearly a daily basis (see some of my other reviews) - but this review is for shade 101/Nude Provocateur in particular. With this shade I found the same great formula as in my other traditional YSL glossy stains, with the difference being the addition of the very slight, pretty shimmer that the Rebel Nudes line offers. My issue with this particular shade is with the fact that it simply doesn't work with my complexion - it doesn't register on my lips/face, period. I am an olive-skinned Latina (NC 42 in winter when I purchased this, and definitely more tan in the summer) and unfortunately found this product to be the equivalent of very expensive, long-lasting clear shimmer gloss on me. I imagine that it will be of even less use to me in the summer. However, as I've already stated many of the other YSL glossy stains contain more than enough pigment to work beautifully on tan/darker skin tones, and in general it's a fantastic product. I just wish that the line contained a flattering nude for darker skin tones.

This color is gorgeous, but I wouldn’t call it burgundy. It’s actually more pink, in my opinion. Luckily, that still works for me. I have dry lips so I like to put it on first and then put on some lip moisturizer or even chapstick. (I love to use Laneige’s water bank moisture cream... it makes your lips so puffy and kissable. So sexy!) Also, I find that the wand too big and oddly shaped and so when applying, it rarely stays just on my lips and takes a bit too long to apply— can’t do it on a whim. It stains very well — great for lips, not great for the rest of your face or anywhere else! I just wish it was a little bit more pointed so it can hit your lips more evenly from the get-go. A lip liner can help with this issue, though.

I LOVE this lip stain! It makes your lips look so full and juicy! The scent is a light rose which isn’t overpowering! I have also used it as a blush! I brought it with me for our beach vacation! You can wipe off the excess or lose it through the day but still have some tint.

Fickle buyer won over

I have spent a shameful amount on lip stains, glosses, and sticks - I am a lip product junkie. Before YSL's Glossy Stain, I was constantly searching for a product which is long-lasting but not drying, glossy but not waxy, with a flattering color that doesn't fade in a few hours to something that makes me look like a clown. YSL's product line fits all these criteria. Out of the box, the tube holds a lot of product - I bought a tube (Rose Forreau) about 6 months ago and have not used it up, despite daily use. YSL's product line fits all these criteria. Out of the box, the tube holds a lot of product - I bought a tube (Rose Forreau) about 6 months ago and have not used it up, despite daily use. The tube reveals a triangle-ish tip which functions as an applicator and a liner. When I line my lips with the applicator, it appears to increase my natural lip line and even my lips out perfectly. Upon application, the formula is slick without stickiness or runniness and has a nice scent. The product dries within a few seconds after applicable but doesn't change appearance as it dries. The color deposit is medium in the Rebel Nudes line and is heavy in the standard line. I talk all day at work, so my constant talking tends to wear off lip product extremely fast. To my happy surprise, the product's color remained consistent color and does not settle into lines. Granted, the shine fades after 4 hours or so but the color remains. I apply a lip balm mid-day and it produces a result similar to my first application of the day. After thousands of dollars of lip products, I have never tried any that work like Glossy Stain and hence will not be buying another lip product. Rose Forreau was my first purchase, as I wanted a neutral color that I could use at work for subtle color. I have since bought Rouge Philtre and Pink Taboo to complete my evening and casual looks - and I am happy with those as well. I do recommend going into a store to try the product - as the color swatches online don't seem to match the actual colors.

Good Formula, Pretty Dark Berry Red
21 October 2022

I have been looking for a pretty dark red that is not too black. I am 54 years old. Any too dark color settles into my lines noticeably even in a matte formula. I got this in Peculiar Pink. It is dark berry red. The square shape takes a second to get used to for application. It gives you 4 corners to use as a liner. Like all matte lipstick it wears from the center inside out. It stayed put well through drinking and eating BBQ. I applied it over a lip base, which offset any drying effect. All in all a winner!
