This lip product is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I really do love everything about it. Well, except for maybe the price. It's $38 USD. But other than that, it's pretty much perfect. It has the perfect amount of pigment. The perfect amount of gloss. It's not too thick or too thin. It's not sticky. It's very lightweight and hydrating. I don't know how they made this gloss/stain, but it must be magic or something. This really is a long wearing gloss. The actual glossy finish of it stays glossy for a long time, and the color/pigment part doesn't budge, at all. Even after the glossy finish wears off, the color isn't going anywhere. Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain This is one of my staple lip colors for that subtle stained look. Traditional stained lips look require a matte stain color with gloss on top to create a gradient look, but this product does the job of both. Gives a splash of color with shine and moisture. The color is buildable and gorgeous, for a hint of everyday glamour. One of my favorite parts is the beautiful rectangular black and gold packaging. I don't regret getting this from Sephora, highly recommend this as a beauty buy.

I am a big fan of the YSL glossy stains - I own several of them and use them on nearly a daily basis (see some of my other reviews) - but this review is for shade 101/Nude Provocateur in particular. With this shade I found the same great formula as in my other traditional YSL glossy stains, with the difference being the addition of the very slight, pretty shimmer that the Rebel Nudes line offers. My issue with this particular shade is with the fact that it simply doesn't work with my complexion - it doesn't register on my lips/face, period. I am an olive-skinned Latina (NC 42 in winter when I purchased this, and definitely more tan in the summer) and unfortunately found this product to be the equivalent of very expensive, long-lasting clear shimmer gloss on me. However, as I've already stated many of the other YSL glossy stains contain more than enough pigment to work beautifully on tan/darker skin tones, and in general it's a fantastic product. I just wish that the line contained a flattering nude for darker skin tones.

I have so many of these glossy stains, and really like them. They apply very well, and can be blended easily to be a darker shade or lighter shade. They remain glossy on my lips for hours even after eating, and by the end of the day I still have a slight stain on my lips. I should say that most lipsticks and glasses wear very well on me, so the fact that these last all day did it surprise me. They are easy for touchups, and they don’t dry out my lips. I continue to re-purchase as they come out with different formulas.

This color is gorgeous, but I wouldn’t call it burgundy. It’s actually more pink, in my opinion. Luckily, that still works for me. I have dry lips so I like to put it on first and then put on some lip moisturizer or even chapstick. (I love to use Laneige’s water bank moisture cream... it makes your lips so puffy and kissable. So sexy!) Also, I find that the wand too big and oddly shaped and so when applying, it rarely stays just on my lips and takes a bit too long to apply— can’t do it on a whim. It stains very well — great for lips, not great for the rest of your face or anywhere else! I just wish it was a little bit more pointed so it can hit your lips more evenly from the get-go. A lip liner can help with this issue, though.

A Beautiful Pink That's Non-drying

Similar formulations by other brands have caused severed dryness in the past, but this product does not. So pleased! For a glossy stain, this lasts and wears very well: The gloss holds out for a solid 3 hours, and the stain remains for up to 8. Even more importantly to me, the color and texture wear down evenly. I was surprised how well this held up to drinking and how little color transferred to the glass. The product has a nice sweet/fruity/floral smell, but I really wish it had the same mango scent as the YSL Volupte Liquid Color Balm. Yum! Pink Rain is exactly the pink I was searching for: Not too blue, not too nude/brown, and not too coral. Also, the color is bright but not opaque; so, it's easy to apply and doesn't overwhelm my fair complexion. Good Formula, Pretty Dark Berry Red

I have been looking for a pretty dark red that is not too black. I am 54 years old. Any too dark color settles into my lines noticeably even in a matte formula. I got this in Peculiar Pink. It is dark berry red. The square shape takes a second to get used to for application. It gives you 4 corners to use as a liner. Like all matte lipstick it wears from the center inside out. It stayed put well through drinking and eating BBQ. I applied it over a lip base, which offset any drying effect. All in all a winner!
