[Archer VR400] AC1200 Wireless VDSL/ADSL2+ Modem Router Dual Band Wifi

Reason I got this modem was becuase I got the quest 3 and my old modem from the isp didn't have gigabit lan connections. Since this was the cheapest modem with gigabit lan connections I got it. I'm glad it works and plays virtual desktop with max bit rate. Run a little so I got bought a cheap 8$ laptop fan to cool it nicely.

Cheap (not in a good way). Unusable rubbish.

-Constantly drops connection on the WAN port at random, for no reason, and doesn't automatically reconnect without a power cycle or physical removal & reinsertion of the ethernet cable**-Comes with insecure (WPA) encryption... WPA2 has been released and available in all routers since 2004-Bad, buggy web interface**My actual modem and internet connection are not dropping; this is purely this router that is screwing up. Because whenever it does, the modem that is actually providing the internet to it is just fine and is still connected.I've worked in IT for years configuring networks of all sizes and this product is the worst I've used. It's rare that I return a JB HiFi product but this product is just terrible. Cheap but works

It was the cheapest modem router combo at JBHifi but its worked flawlessly once connected. Coverage is decent but we paired it with a Netgear Extender and covers out entire house now. The set up with Aussie Broadband was a breeze once set to Dynamic IP.

Don't waste your time or money!

This was the hardest to set up, the most unreliable, badly designed piece of crap I've ever purchased. It's going back today! The computer says I'm connected but the web browser says it can't find the network. The green lights are all stable, and the wi-fi has an IP address and a green light but it still wouldn't connect. This is the 2nd modem router from JB HiFi I've tried. I'm going back to Optus to get one like the ten-year-old one I had. At least that worked!

Good budget Wireless router

Purchased this due to old wireless router died. Picked this one out of the lot from Officeworks due to the reviews.Being on NBN the auto setup didnt work, you have to manually enter the settings. Read the other reviews to see how to do it.Port forwarding took a bit to set up, but got their in the end.So far so good for our work from home household and kids wireless devices.3 year warranty seems fair.

Good price but not a great wireless modem...

Setup was easy and it's not an overly large unit which means it'll be easy to hide.PROS:- decent price- easy to setup- works with FTTN (VDSL2 modem)- seamless switching between 2.4 and 5GHz wirelessCONS:- can't create a mesh network with TP Link deco units unless you plug directly into one of the ethernet ports- internet connection seems a bit unstable and it often seems to stall (or maybe that's the network frequency auto switching)- WiFi coverage isn't great

Good value for money. No performance issues

I don’t have any issues regarding the NBN connection and Wi-Fi coverage. All seems sufficient for a small apartment. Connected TV (wired) and laptops/phones (Wireless) for 2 people. (I personally use TPG as my provider).The initial setup was not as easy at it could be. The wizard sent me down the ADSL (old tech) path rather than NBN (VDSL2).I had to go and set it up manually which would not be easy for a novice who isn’t familiar with modem firmware & basic WAN networking principles. May take a novice some time working through forum instructions or in the support line with your Internet Service Provider.I am happy with this product.

Poor coverage

Purchased this on the recommendation of someone in store to replace the ISP suppliedmodem I’d been using, hoping it would be an improvement. It wasn’t. Coverage really poor (worse than what I’d had). Ended up replacing with another modem within a week. Waste of $160.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY!

1.) This modem is not a stable device. The firmware is an absolute joke. 1 in 3 days, it will disconnect from the internet randomly and won’t reconnect until you reboot the modem. Google the issue for prove.2.) The latency is huge. If you do serious tasks where delay or latency is not acceptable, do not buy.3.) TP-link won’t do anything to the above issue at all. No warranty or what so ever.4.) Overpriced! for you’ll get. My old Modem from ISP is much better in terms of the stability and reliability.

Review of TP-LINK Archer VR400 V3 WiFi Modem Router - AC 1200, Dual-band

Good Points: Really easy to set up, just copy in the broadband username/password from EE - far more reliable than their black router, post 24th May software update.Improvement Points: It's doing it's job. Nothing negative to report.
