Having had Celiac disease for about 20 years now, I have to eat Gluten free GF. It has taken me a long time to try replace my favorite meals, especially the meals I grew up on. Being born raised in England the first 18 years of my life then living in the United States, whenever I go home, the GF foods that are available there are so good compared to what is available here, plus if it was up to me, I would eat fish, chips mushy peas everyday. Plus having worked in a Chippy for 7 years, I know what good mushy peas taste like Bachelor's has nailed it. Whether you like the chip shop ones or any of their other varieties, of which they have many, you can't go wrong, as they know their peas. It takes me a long time to find good GF battered fish here, but when I do I buy as many boxes as I can afford. They then stay in the freezer until I get my mushy peas to go with them. Fish chips are not the same without the mushy peas, it's like having lamb without the mint sauce or pork without the apple sauce. My entire family love them just as much as I do. I thought I had found a great deal at a local store, sorry BCS I ordered a case, but after awhile, I received a message saying they couldn't fill my order. That's why I logged on today, to get my mushy peas, plus they are on promotion today, so I think it was meant to be. LOL. The fish chips are on hand, ready waiting, I just need my delicious mushy peas. Once you've had them, you'll never go back to regular sweet peas. Red sauce Ketchup vinegar anyone....?

Now this is the fish and chip shop taste I've been looking for! Tastes exactly the same as in what used to be my local chippy. Fried fish is easy enough to find or reproduce, chips mostly work OK and British Corner Shop also has malt vinegar!, now I have the mushy peas to go with it. Perfection. My French husband still can't understand why I would eat that, but that's OK. More for me :)

English mushy peas go perfectly
23 October 2022

English mushy peas go perfectly with baked french fries. Taste good with veggie burgers, and poached or fried eggs too. I can’t imagine making home made mushy peas from scratch - a can is so convenient for days when some comfort food is needed.

More liquid than peas

I have bought these regularly for the last few years but not any more. Have Batchelors added more water to save on costs? I used to remove these from saucepan with a spoon now it has to be a slotted one with only enough peas for one person not two. The excellent flavour is no compensation however.

These are nice however after discovering that Brilliant Blue FCF (artificial colouring) causes cancer, i won't be buying this anymore. Hopefully I can find another brand that doesn't use artifical colours and other cancer causing ingredients

Review of Batchelors 300g Mushy Peas

A really nice consistency, not overly green in colour. Once heated they soften nicely, which makes them as good as your local chip shop mushy peas. Adding a touch of mint sauce just sets them off nicely 👌 😋 👍

Worst ever
15 November 2022

I used to buy the excellent Morrisons frozen mushy peas but these seem to have been delisted. Tried these and could not believe how bad they are. First thing is the very unappealing artificial bright green colour. This no doubt from chemical colouring. Next is they are very watery a few fluorescent green peas floating in fluorescent green water. The much cheaper Morrisons Savers peas are far superior.
