3M 6200 Half Facepiece Resusable Respirator, Medium: I'm so glad that I already had this and #2297 filters for use in my plastic model kit making hobby. It's a must-have for airbrush painting & lacquering. When the pandemic broke out I didn't have to scramble to find a mask. It fits well. And it's wearable for several hours at a time. The one unawarded star is for the quarter sized white rubber disks that serve as the valves to prevent exhaled air going back out thru the filters. They eventually start to make a loud 'click' on each exhaled breath. Thoroughly washing out the entire unit as 3M suggests solves the issue for a short time. Unfortunately, I can only find replacement discs in big quantities, for a big price. It's cheaper to buy an entire new unit - which ... I was issued this mask at work. Works great at first...then everything got loose and wiggly, and the second I started sweating it began falling down my nose. Not good...I thought it was just my weird face at first, or the shape of my nose, so I came here looking for fitment tips. I actually thought about wearing something underneath the crown support to maybe make my head big enough that the mask CAN'T slide down. Looks like I wasn't alone...I'm actually really worried (my job is very very hazardous)...

Worse than 6000 series for eye glasses wearers because the upper edge of the rubber is puffed up on 7000 series vs. very flat and sharp on 6000 series, thus making is hard for people. No doubt, the 3M 7000 series offer excellent face molding tightness and superior ease of put-on and take-off usage, but for the eye glasses wearers they are inferior. Because they are bulging on top edge, the glasses get pushed off of the nose (unless you wear a monocular that doesn't rely on nose bridge, or tiny glasses with nose bridge being high by eye-brows only.)
I cant say I love it because I hate the fact that I dont feel protected by hospital provided n95s, and know for a fact that theyre just passing your fit test to get you to work in whatever crappy mask theyre in possession of. I have had this independently fit tested quantitatively and qualitatively. It took a little bit to get it adjusted for the right fit, but once it was right its been great. I feel safer than with the disposable mask. That being said, due to the fact that it has an exhalation vent, you are not protecting anyone. However, my patients all have Covid already. The hospital has asked that we cover the exhalation vent with a surgical mask. I will be purchasing different filters because Id prefer to have ones I can wipe with virex after each use.
I don't know why this does not work anymore against fumes. I bought it in November 2020, used it maybe 2 times to spray pesticides, together with the 3M Organic Vapor/Acid Gas Cartridge/Filter 60923. No matter how tight I attach it, there is air coming through the valve, and I smell everything through the exhale valve. I had to activate my old 3M Half Facepiece, and it worked well with the new filters. The new respirator is just useless, and I cannot return it anymore. I'm just stuck with it. Addendum: I repaired it. The membrane that is attached inside to the exhale valve came lose by itself and left a gap. I managed to attach it again, and now it works as expected. No more smell coming through. I hope that it will hold.
The mask itself is GREAT but I bought it to breathe fresh air that doesn't have VOC's, Fragrance, or Scents as I am very allergic to them. I am one of the millions of people in America who has allergies and asthma and/or Environmental Illness and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Even in the In the allergy clinics no one is supposed to wear any kind of fragrance. You could kill one of us by exposing us to it. I cannot have scented anything. From this mask is the strong odor of a cologne or perfume. It has made me sick and I have to be on Steroids now and antibiotics (sinus infection and asthma). Nebulizer for wheezing asthma and painful sinuses!!! I breathed it in and even my tongue burns and tastes awful (like metallic or chemical) due to the fragrance that was added ... At first I liked your design, then I worked in it for the day. Initial comfort is great! But add sweat and moisture from wearing and suddenly the respirator is Terrible!Constantly sliding down the face no matter how much you tighten up the head apparatus and cinch ties.Because of the sliding fumes from the chemicals become an issue making the mask dangerous. I switched back to my old 3M face mask. With it I don’t have to deal with sliding even when sweating. I do not have issues with being exposed to any chemical fumes because the face mask fits snug. Might not be as comfortable on the face but my lungs don’t care.

Second, I read the reviews - I know, dumb. I saw it does not come with the actual filters and within a few minutes of my order, hit the "cancel" button. They said I could refuse the package but it was left on my door step, my husband opened it and we could not refuse it once opened. I speak as a woman who once sanded a garbage coffee table and found out quickly that its previous owner had an extreme fondness for marijuana.
