This is a bit of a hefty lens at 400+g but the sharpness you get is extremely impressive. F1.8 is a little soft with slight color fringing on highly contrasting lines but by F2.2, it's absolutely razer sharp with no color issues. AF is excellent and it's all around an absolute beast of a lens. This lens punches way WAY above its price class.The two negatives here are the weight and how easily the AF/MF switch can be knocked. Both of these are more of an annoyance than negative.One thing to note here is that this is a full frame lens. F1 8 on APS-C is actually F2.7. At F2.2 on a full frame, the DOF is still too shallow for a portrait from ~8ft away. You can't get the tip of the nose and the ears in focus until F2.8 on a full frame. I am very satisfied with this lens on my Nikon Z6 II, especially its sharpness and noiseless focus mechanism. This lens has become one of my mostly used lenses. I definitely recommend it to those seeking this specific focal length.

The Viltrox 50mm F/1.8 for Nikon Z is a solid prime lens with sharp image quality, fast autofocus, and excellent low-light performance. Lightweight and affordable, it's ideal for portraits and everyday shooting. I attached the photo I took with the Viltrox 50mm 1.8. Great value!
Used for one portrait shoot, and images are great. Looking forward to test this lens a lot more.
Good lens with this price
I purchased this lens based on user reviews and price point. Having just picked up a Nikon Z6 I was looking for portrait lens to start with. I have been pleasantly surprised at the results. Fast enough for most of the street photography and landscape type of shooting that I do. The lens was delivered quicker than I had expected. Packaging was well done and quite protective. The lens was on sale and saved me a goodly amount over all of the other vendors at that time. I am fully expecting to make additional purchases in the new future for a Macro lens. Recommendations have already been made to others who are also looking to pick up new mirrorless bodies.
