This item looks strong, but truly isn't. I thought this U lock was sturdy and a good anti-theft deterrent given its weight and intimidating looks. Sadly, a thief cut this lock open and stole my e-bike attached to it. I would invest in another lock outside of this one. Learn from my loss!

The KF bracket works well. Easy to mount bracket to the bike and remove the lock when needed to lock the bike. Good price for lock and bracket. The Lock looks reasonably substantial, but not too heavy. Very resistant to bolt croppers though it will not stop angle grinder attack. You can't rotate the U so that should mean with angle grinder they would need to cut both sides of the U. I got the 300mm as it has more room to lock the bike to something.

I bought this lock (along with a "Abus Bordo Lite 6055 85cm Folding Lock - maybe overkill?) and am very very happy with it. The square section makes it more resistant to theft and the size and weight of it alone make it feel and look very secure. Living in a high bike theft area means I need a lock that's better than more. The lock is also quite a bit less heavier than I expected. There are plenty of mounting / fixing options (took a bit of time to find the right place to fix it on my Scott MTB, but once fixed it's very secure). Would 100% definitely recommend.

I own the 30 mm version and bought 2 23 mm locks for my sons. I love it that much. Living in a city where bikes are stolen all the time, these are a necessity. The German engineering is superb and if you really need some the best you can get without it weighing a ton...these ABUS locks are the ones to buy. The squared off D/U lock shape, custom alloy and high quality locking mechanism are what set it apart from other locks in the same price range. You get equal or better security with less weight. Nothing is invincible and I am sure there are pros out there with tools that can defeat it....but they are far and few between. combine this lock with a cable for your tires and you should feel pretty secure leaving your bike most places. I bought 3
The mount is fine, it is a larger u-lock so it may not mount well on certain frames it is tough to design a mount for a highly secure lock that is going to be super universal. Yes it might be a bit harder to carry in a bag but I can assure you it is lighter and cheaper than a new bike. When you have the mount and it is able to work it is fantastic, doesn't move and holds the lock securely. If I need to carry the lock and don't want to use the mount or can't for some reason I will put it on top of my rack and bungee it down. I wouldn't want to commute without a rack and get my back all sweaty, gross! As far as length of shackle if you have extra shackle length you bought a lock that was too long and it is not a fault of the lock. However there are some times when you don't need the extra length and sometimes you do. Get a length that best fits your needs. I have the middle sized one it is excellent for most things and if I have so much extra which is rare I could lock up the front wheel in there as well and take up the slack.
The U-Lock Granit x-plus 540 is imported from Germany & rather expensive here in the USA so it seems to be more popular in Europe but I researched bike locks before I purchased & this is one of the best available. This is also the largest lock I could find at over 11in long & 4.25in wide which I found made it more versatile but this does present some issues if you want to mount it to your bike frame for storage. If I were buying it knowing what I do now, I likely would get the 9inch version rather than the 11. That being said, I use it at an angle on my mountain bike so that it goes through my frame AND my rear wheel and on most occasions I would not have been able to include my rear wheel without those 2 inches. As with all bike locks that require a grinder and two cuts to break it is quite heavy, almost 4LBS. I use mine along with an 11mm loop cable to secure the front wheel as well. If you need the best, are willing to pay for it, and can afford the weight & space then this is an excellent lock.
1) the mounting bracket is poorly conceived and does not fit snugly on any part of the hybrid bike frame. (Tried the frame, seat, back triangle). The lock is cumbersome and without a mounting bracket would be very impractical to carry in a bag.2) the shackle seems vulnerable. While the Abus quality reputation gives comfort from lock pickers... There is too much slack when locking this behemoth lock through both bike frame plus rear tire to a pole - the gap just gives more room for a potential thief’s bolt cutters to get in there. Returned.
Sold Secure Diamond rated, and feels solid. Double-locking leaves no slack. Key has a reassuring feel; cable is a good length; D-lock very sturdy and capable of enclosing front wheel, frame AND a Sheffield stand. The light in the key is a bonus, and the frame mount looks sturdy although I haven’t used it - the lock and cable easily fit in my backpack.
I own several Abus locks. They secure my e-bikes and generator. If its worth keeping its worth protecting. The bike mount ensures the lock is always available and ready. This is by far the best lock made.
