I assumed since this product was for something serious as being Diabetic, it would work. It was what the pharmacist pointed out and it was priced cheaply. I bought it and it takes 5 times to get some type of reading. My fingers are getting sore and I just got this. Now I can see I will need a real one to use and trash this one. It is horrible that Walmart allows this

This is almost perfect. I like how it syncs to your phone and the app attached to it has so many features to help you record your food intake, glucose levels, etc. and to generate reports easily for you. That’s a huge plus to me! However, I struggle with the strips. It’s very sensitive. Not enough blood or the blood trickles in slow in the strip, and it immediately sends it in an error mode. You’d have to start a fresh. For what’s supposed to be a good device recommended for beginners, it’s hella picky and requires a big droplet that others. I had to keep throwing away test strips due to its high sensitivity. Worse, these strips are priced much more expensive than the device itself and it’s the strips that you’ve to repetitively buy as well. So that part pisses me. ... MoreThis is almost perfect. This is my blood sugar levels checker. I am diabetic 2 I take a shot in the morning and at night. And I used a repaid insulin too if I need. That blood sugar tester doesn't really hurt me very much. I pricked my fingers 2 or 3 times a day. I have a new one coming to me soon although. I just got that to hold me over till I get my new blood tester. My Dr nurse gave me it today. I hope that the new one is easy to used too.

This meter is smaller than previous Accu-Check meters and comes in a hard plastic case that has compartments for each item used to check your blood. The new, advanced strips are packed in a flat container about the size of a dental floss container and require less blood and all you have to do is touch the edge of strip to your blood droplet on your finger and it functions great. No more trying to get a droplet on one narrow spot on a strip. The meter runs on 2 replaceable coin-cell batteries and has a Micro-USB port only for connecting the meter to a PC if you want to send your readings through a USB cable. It is not a charging port. No more trying to get a droplet on one narrow spot on a strip. The meter runs on 2 replaceable coin-cell batteries and has a Micro-USB port only for connecting the meter to a PC if you want to send your readings through a USB cable. It is not a charging port. It also has Bluetooth connectivity so it can connect to a mobile device and automatically log results right to whichever healthcare app you choose. My favorite thing is that the plastic case has tabs which hold the meter in place with the strip reader opening still being accessible while still being in the case. The strips may or may not cost more than previous strips that come in a round container, but these strips are so much better and operate using a much smaller blood drop. No more having to stick my finger more than once. No more strips being wasted from a failed reading. Everything in the Guide Me kit is smaller and fits in a small flat case measuring 5.5 inches long (130 mm), 3 inches wide (80 mm), and less than 1 inch thick (about 25 mm).
The case is absolutely horrible. I can’t carry any extra supplies in it. I have a hard time opening it. Nothing wrong with the meter. Because of the case, it’s getting a low rating. This is the second GuideMe. I was able to use my Avia case with the last one, but lost it. Now I’m stuck with this plastic case. I haven’t even mentioned how anti- left handed it is.
My ancient blood glucose meter when haywire while I was out of state on vacation. When I returned, CVS had what was needed. I needed something simple without lots of complex "setups" and options. I also ordered enough lancets and test strips in order to assess what my levels were doing throughout the day at critical moments. Great meter!
Ordered this through my CVS account when my previous meter failed. Very affordable and delivered in 48 hours. Works excellent. My only criticism would be my previous meter had beep prompts. This is strictly visual but for the price I can adapt. Recommend.
Pros: Easy to use, read and it is compact as well as very affordable. Cons: Don't care for the hard case. Like the soft case better because it doesn't take up as much space. Battery compartment is touchy. Sometime, when you have to change the battery, the unit stops working, thus I had to purchase another. But overall, good little unit.
Test strips are advertised as being "easy to handle"--they aren't. Try to get one out of the container and half a dozen more come out with it. They are also too narrow to be handled the way one is instructed to in diabetes management classes. Also, in order to obtain control solution, one has to contact Accu-Chek and order with a credit card. At least Reli-On doesn't charge for the control solution. Most insurance carriers will not cover Accu-Chek.
This is junk. The photo shows strips, lancets, case and looks ok. It’s actually cheaply made. No meter strips, they are 19.99 extra. Since I can’t return this I’ll just junk it. I have used ACCU-Chek brands for years. I won’t ever buy one again if this is what they make. Lesson learned. I only gave it a 1 because there is no zero.
