Adam Audio D3V Active Desktop Monitor System Black (Pair)
The D3V is a fully active desktop monitoring system designed for songwriters, producers, and music lovers who want to enjoy ADAM Audio sound quality as conveniently as possible. Available in white or black editions, the active monitors feature the iconic golden ribbon tweeter and stay true to ADAM Audio s German industrial design heritage. Each active pair features 3.5 aluminium woofers and a ferrite magnet system driven by 80 W amplifiers. The woofers are further complemented by dual-sided 3.5 passive radiators, allowing the D3V to extend as low as 45 Hz. With 25 years experience working with ribbon tweeter technology, ADAM Audio has created a compact 1.5 D-ART (Desktop Accelerated Ribbon Tweeter) to deliver precise and unfatiguing high-frequency reproduction, consistent with the performance of established ADAM Audio monitoring systems. The D3V features a USB-C input, allowing the monitoring system to behave as a digital output device when connected to a computer, removing the need for an additional audio interface for playback. This plug-and-play functionality extends to mobile devices, providing high-quality audio without the compression or conversion normally associated with such connections. The D3V also features balanced " TRS inputs for more traditional analogue audio applications. The backplate of the left speaker includes a range of user-friendly switches to address common acoustical issues that arise from speaker placement. The front panel includes a headphone socket and volume knob that doubles as a control for audio input selection, muting, and other functions. The D3V comes complete with detachable monitor stands angled at 15 toward the users ears. Additionally, there is a standard threaded 3/8 hole for microphone stand mounting on the underside of both monitors.

Got these about a week ago and have been comparing them to a pair of Genelec 8010s and Auratone 5Cs. The top end is much smoother than either, and I don't get fatigued like with the Genelecs. Bass goes much lower than either and the 3 position switch on the back tailors the sound. Be aware that in the desk and wall positions the DSP hasan effect on the midrange as well. There is one problem that I foundbut it could be my setup. When I use the USB C input, when I look atAudio Midi Setup on my mac mini I can only get 16 bit sound even though Adam claims 24 bits. I contacted them and they don't know what the problem is. I guess I'll just have to use the TRS balanced analog inputs until I can get a good answer somewhere. All in all it'sa good product and the bass it is outputting in my room is comparable to speakers with 5 or 6 inch woofers.

Hi. I got these to use as a desktop set of monitors to use by the computer in my study. Driving them off a Mac M4 through Roon/Qobuz. The physical quality of the speakers is impressive and the controls are intuitive. The speakers are surprisingly accurate with good frequency response even in the bass. They are not warm and fuzzy. They project a near linear and precise presentation of the recorded music. Although they still sound great, what I didn't like is that the DAC in the speakers downsamples the audio from Qobuz/Roon. I have now placed an external DAC between the Mac and the speakers using USB to the DAC and then XLR balanced outs to balanced TRS inputs in the speakers for full resolution Hi-Fi from Qobuz. In my mind I can hear the difference. In reality -- ... MoreHi. I got these to use as a desktop set of monitors to use by the computer in my study. Driving them off a Mac M4 through Roon/Qobuz.
