So happy I bought this! For years I've always been ever so slightly sceptical of subs, thinking that the bass would blow out the balance of the mix in the reasonably untreated room I call my studio. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I paired these with my A7's - the Sub 8 delivers punchy bottom end without it being hyped or overblown - Perfect for what I need it for. Trust me, a sub is well worth it!

Whilst a sub isn't a massively exciting or exotic piece of kit, it really does allow your main speakers to deliver the frequencies that they are built for, and fills out the lower frequencies well (not to mention extending below the typical range of near-to-mid field monitors). This sub is paired with my Adam A7X monitors which are my main mixing monitors. The room I'm working in is somewhere around 20m2. I did consider option for the lareger Sub10, but I'm glad I settled with the Sub8. In this size room, it's perfect.Set up and balancing was very easy. Scan's pricing was also significantly better than other retailers at the time I purchased and their delivery was super-quick.

Very well balanced subwoofer that adds a serious dimension of low end. I use them with my Adam Audio A7v. It doesn't support the A-Control software like the new speakers do but it has a remote and motorized knobs for frequency cutoff and volume.Very pleased with the audio and it looks really good as well.

Great clarity and deep tight bass with the subwoofer. I wouldn't buy the monitors without the subwoofer, they don't provide enough bass response. Solid build all around. Excellent stereo imaging and very clean treble range. Highly recommended.
I use these in my office paired with a set of Adam A7Xs. The sub sits in a room that isn't treated and is simply my office where I like to enjoy high quality music. The sub is pretty good. It is well built and doesn't take up a lot of room. It has a built in xover so it will cut frequencies from the XLR pass through @ 85Hz saving your primary drivers the work if you so choose.B&H is what really failed here. Both $$subs were returns and repackaged. This was evident in the factory sub box being retaped with B&H tape and the remotes not having the protective gloss shield and being scratched and dented.
It has made a high end audio system even better. It is an adjuncto to a Linn Kairn pre-amp, Linn LK85 power amp and a pair of terrific Bowers & Wilkins 607 speakers.
I bought a pair of Adam A5X speakers roughly a year and a half ago before making my purchase for this active sub. Now that I have this sub, I've noticed it's effective difference while working on my production. One of the noticeable attributes of this sub is how clean, clear and powerful the sound that this sub produces. The room I use isn't acoustically treated, however the sound is amazing.Whether you use this sub for production purposes or not, you'll find that it's rich sound quality will be the icing on the cake for any music that wants to show off its bottom end.
Easy to connect and set up, love the sound quality, love the remote control for volume and crossover frequency. The perfect complement to a pair of Adam A5X. I have now heard the 20% of OK Computer that's lower than 70Hz, 20 years on!
For the price, this is an excellent match to my Adam A7X monitors. Unloading the low frequencies from the A7Xs to the subwoofer (using low-cut filter) really helps bring out the mid frequencies of the A7X. Albeit very powerful, the Sub8 can be modulated to lower volume for a balanced match to the monitors.

Adam Audio Sub 8 8.5" Active Subwoofer
The Sub8 is a powerful active subwoofer with small dimensions, which extends the reproduction range to below 30 Hz and can be adapted to the acoustic conditions in many ways. It contains a special longthrow 8.5" chassis driven by a powerful magnet and a 38 mm voice coil. ICE modules are used as amplifiers, combining high power and lowest heat generation and easily coping with high loads during long periods. Two motorized potentiometers are located on the front panel, which can be used to adjust the crossover frequency and volume. An included remote control allows adjustment of these controls from the comfort of the listening position. The Sub8 is especially designed for smaller rooms up to 20 m2. It is the perfect complement to the nearfield monitors of the AX and SX series. Control panel/adjustment options All ADAM subwoofers have differentiated options to adapt it to the respective room or satellites. There are control options for volume (60 to +6 dB), phase switching (180°) and variable upper cutoff frequency of the subwoofer (50150 Hz). For the satellite outputs, a filter can be switched on that blocks the signals of the satellites below 85 Hz, for example, in order to reproduce a movie soundtrack in a Dolby compliant manner and to relieve them of the low frequencies. Furthermore, it is possible to either switch the subwoofer on or off manually or to have it switch on automatically as soon as it receives signals (signal on/continuous).
