Just back from my first weekend camping trip with my new Aeropress Go Plus. As an avid aeropress coffee fan I was so pleased to discover the new Go Plus with it's insulated travel mug with it's integrated filter storage at the base. A big step up from the plastic mug of the Go. Sadly, the filter storage base of the mug is not water tight and all my filters got soaked. The bottom was also a bit too easy to unscrew while pulling the lid to the mug free. I would like to see two refinements made. Add an O-ring and extra threads to the filter storage area at the base of the mug to guarantee the filters stay dry. There's definitely room for improvement, but this is an excellent traveling Aeropress system.First off, the taste is excellent. Nice, creamy coffee with a full range of notes. The Aeropress itself is built well and is made to last. The tumbler is also nice and pretty standard of a double-walled insulated mug. The mug holds heat well but the lid allows for a lot of heat dissipation. I find myself grinding coffee and putting it into another container to take with me to then add to the brew system with hot water when I get to work or while I'm out camping. An additional container wouldn't add much height, but would add a convenient spot to add coffee grounds so all you need is water.Improve the lid so that it doesn't leak. I appreciate the ease of cleaning, but I think most people would sacrifice the ease of cleaning for a spill proof lid.Integrate the spoon and stirrer as one unit. While the stirrer is a neat design, I think widening the scoop handle and adding a collapsible stir rod to it would save on plastic and make it even more convenient. Sure the "handle" of the scoop would get wet, but by the time you go to stir your grounds, you don't need to hold the handle of the scoop.Overall I'm pleased with the product despite some annoyances. I primarily use this camping and it's a very convenient package for making good coffee. I'd love to see a titanium version to cut down on weight but that's maybe asking too much seeing as the mainline Aeropress is still plastic. Happy to recommend.

I have had my original AeroPress for 3 years and use it 2-3 times per day. So when I saw this newest edition, I decided to try it. I got the clear one with the Cream colored cup. I use the my previously owned stainless steel filter and never use paper filters because I am pleased with the screen. The coffee never leaks or drips, so I am able to let it steep as long as I choose. I usually pour the hot water in and use the included stirrer. I stir for about 5-10 seconds and then rinse off the stirrer and then plunge. My choice it to use 12-14 ounces of water, 24-27 grams of fresh ground beans and choose the temperature from 205ā°F for lightest roast, 195ā° for medium and 185ā° for dark. Itās overall ok, but it does have a few minor issues as so many others have noted.First, the filter compartment needs to be made waterproof. It will let in some water while washing if youāre not mindful. And as clever as this idea is, it does make the cup just a tad too big for me. The original version has a much smaller profile. There was nothing wrong with the original travel stirrer. Maybe mine is just a little stiffer than others, but itās hard to unfold and I get annoyed having to undo two segments. I still use the original version in my new unit.After I got my original Aeropress Go, I spent a long time looking for a stainless steel mug on Amazon to house the unit because I could smell the plastic mug when I drank out it. I found something that worked though it wasnāt a perfect fit. I probably didnāt need this new travel kit but I do love how everything fits together. I appreciate their meeting a demand. There is, for me, no better way of making coffee simply at home or on the go.

And since I have transitioned to not checking luggage any more, I have not always been able to bring it because of the lack of space.So I was very excited to see the new Aeropress Go Plus become available. The Go Plus seemed to solve all the problems.So I made an error and was one of the first people to purchase it without waiting for the reviews to come in.Everything is fine with the Plus except for one thing. And it is a big thing. I have never in a review of anything ever written that I āhatedā something. But I have to say that I hate the lid that comes along with the Plus.The problem is that I have been using the awesome Yeti magnetic slider lid which clearly demonstrates how awful the Plus lid is in comparison. It is basically unusable for me.There are several issues with the Go Plus.First, and the most minor, is there is no lift tab to help you remove the press on lid like every other press on lid I have ever used. OK, I can get the lid off with a little work, but having a small nub or lip on the lid to help you remove it would have been trivial and easy to add at basically no cost.Next is I did a rinse leak test for the cap on the bottom of the cup holding the filters. Although not much did get in, I will say that the filter holder is not leak proof so when and if you wash the tumbler, some water may get in and wet your stored filters. I did not try a more extensive leak test with longer exposure or a submergence test. I do not think it would do well. Not a good thing. Having to remove the bottom and filters every time you wash it would be a real pain.Next is the worse thing and so easy to have gotten right. The slider on the lid is massively thick and makes drinking from the Plus without any spillage around your lips very difficult. Plus it is just a very unpleasant and bulky experience. Again, check out the Yeti Mag slider to see what excellence means. The yeti is very thin where your mouth touches to the point you can hardly tell it is there. The Plus is massive and obtrusive and you have to work hard to shape your mouth around it to avoid coffee getting past your lips and possibly spilling.Related to that is the basic shape of the plastic in the drinking area around where the slider opens and closes. It is not curved smoothly or shaped to make it comfortable or easy to keep coffee from getting around your lips. And it does not feel good like the Yeti. Plus coffee pools a bit in and around the opening and even under the lid. This stains the lid and slider, and can leak onto your face and shirt when drinking.And the final engineering issue is leakage. If you turn a Yeti tumbler with the magnetic lid sideways or upside down with the slider closed, you will get very little leakage. I tiny bit. But the Plus leaks heavily with just a slight jostle of the cup. It becomes a large leak when tilted. I donāt think it would work well in a car when hitting bumps or cornering. The Go Plus slider leaks heavily or can easily just fall off if you turn it over.I do not expect a sliding lid to be leak free. However, I do expect simple benchmarking of their design against the market leaders for basic performance, feel, and competitive leak resistance with a totally new design if they are going to compete in this market space.I really, really wanted to love this Go Plus. But the lid design makes it unusable to me.A complete redesign of the lid is required using the Yeti Magnetic slider as a benchmark. Even better, just make the diameter of the Go Plus the same as the Yeti so we could use the Yeti top if we so desired.So I am going back to just bringing my original Aeropress on Travel. The Plus is a big fail for me.
The go plus makes it really easy now to take my Aeropress on travel with a minimum of volume used. Perfect for that.However, after being a long time user of the Yeti magnetic slider lid, I was hoping that the magnetic slider provided by Aeropress would be similar. Unfortunately it was not.The slider is really thick at the point of where your mouth touches it when drinking where the Yeti slider is very thin at that point. Perfect for that.However, after being a long time user of the Yeti magnetic slider lid, I was hoping that the magnetic slider provided by Aeropress would be similar. Unfortunately it was not.The slider is really thick at the point of where your mouth touches it when drinking where the Yeti slider is very thin at that point. Promise.The website claims that the tumbler is 'leak resistant'. I really don't see how that could even be claimed. One small tilt and this thing leaks all over the place. Also, because it wants to snap closed magnetically, I have to hold the magnetic slider thing open with one finger while sipping. It won't stay open without holding it.Furthermore, the lid doesn't screw in to seal, it slides into a VERY snug fit and if you need to remove the lid while the coffee is still hot, be very very careful since strong opposing force is required and it could pop out quickly with hot coffee everywhere. Sigh... It is truly a terrible design and I'm surprised it passed through whatever decision making process you guys are using. Please tell me all key decision makers actually tested a unit with their own hands before approving. Sigh.Shaving off a little extra weight and space from my current kit is great but for $80 (!?!) this thing really should be great and it isn't. My guess is one of the designers really wanted to use magnets to follow suit with all the other great magnet use designs for backpacks, slings and accessories on the market but sorry, the tumbler isn't the place and this this leaks terribly.Please fix the lid with mine and others feedback (see other reviews) and send me one as soon as it's ready and I'll give you your stars back. A lid fix shouldn't be too bad. Right?
I bought this new Aeropress Go Plus because I like the word "plus". It has a little more capacity than the original Go and comes with its own nice-looking travel mug. But in the short time I've had it, I don't like it. The filter cap is difficult to put on because it has to fit a specific way. It also leaks a little out the sides. It doesn't leak while pressing, but builds up a little coffee around the rim so it drips on the counter when I'm done pressing and turn it over. The mug is good-looking but not secure at all. If it tips it will leak badly, even when it's closed. The drinking "hole" is small and uncomfortable to drink out of. The original Go is easier to use and easier to clean and a filter will last me days. I just got back from a 3 day trip to Yosemite and it was my first outing with my newly purchased Aeropress Go Plus system.THE DESIGN OF THE LID ON THE MUG/TUMBLER IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER USED. It's worse than the freebie tumblers I get at trade shows.Here are my gripes:1. The magnetic sliding lid cover vents air VERY poorly. You are fighting a vacuum on almost every single sip. Which makes for a very poor drinking experience. The holes are a little small and/or the distance between the sliding cover and the vent holes is too narrow, and doesn't allow air to enter into the cup. The same magnetic sliding cover has a weird embellishment molded into it, right where your upper lip would normally contact the cup. So there is a weird gap between your lips and the tumbler lid where you are trying to sip your coffee. It just doesn't feel comfortable on your mouth.3. The only solution I have found is to orient the magnetic lid 180 on top of the lid. Thereby defeating the whole purpose of having a sliding magnetic lid. And it's just a matter of time before it gets knocked off and lost forever, as it is much less security attached this way. This solves issues #1 and #2, but introduces the new problem of making your magnetic cover poised to fall off.4. This is more of a suggestion and not a flaw. The lid really needs to have an indexed "tab" that is 180deg away from the mouth opening, so you know how to orient the cup without looking. From a design standpoint, the whole system packs away much larger than the overall out diameter of the tumbler, so a small 5mm locating tab doesn't make this any larger than it is already.For an $80 coffee brew system, this really is the worst tumbler lid I have ever used.
