Aesop Fabulous Face Cleanser 200 ml

Honestly? I'm on the fence. I love Aesop's moisturizers and have been using them for many years now. So I branched out and decided to try out this cleanser rather than stick with the usual (Grown Alchemist). It's not low lather; it's NO lather, more like a gel -- clear and very slippery. Just my perception, but I don't feel like my face was truly clean after using this, although it was very soft, and I didn't get that tight feeling like I do with other cleansers. I can see this being really good for sensitive skin. A few negative points for not having a pump. The glass bottle can easily slip out of wet hands, so I don't keep the Aesop in my shower area, lest I have to deal with broken glass. I'll use it up, because it's not a bad cleanser -- it just didn't "wow" me.

Let’s be clear: This is NOT an affordable cleanser. This is a luxury item to be sure. But it is exactly that: luxurious. The scent alone is worth the price. It smells green and clean. It does foam but ever so slightly and you really need to be careful due to the glass bottle/no pump situation. A little goes a long way, however, so long as your hands are wet and your face is dry. It leaves my skin feeling very cleansed but never stripped dry. I’ve noticed a dramatic change in my skin: less breakouts and clarity. I will definitely save my pennies and repurchase.

I’ve used a variety of different cleansers for my dry skin, and I always come back to this one. I love that the glass packaging and the product itself, but I’ve deducted a star because of the price. Aesop counters give out samples, so if you’re thinking of buying any of their products, give a few samples a try to see what works for you. This cleanser is beautiful, leaving your skin supple, and the smell is divine. Also, their 200ml cleanser bottles do not come with pumps which may be a surprise to some.

Gentle and smells so fresh

I love this face wash. I have very sensitive skin and love the natural fragrance this product has. Good for washing off make up too, I’ve tried a lot of face cleansers and most are too harsh for my skin but this does the job and makes my skin feel fresh and clean.

Keep coming back for more!

I started using this just over a year ago, after a friend recommended it to me. I was a bit wary as I have eczema and thought it would irritate me... but far from it. It's SO gentle, even though it does foam up which usually dries me out. It easily gets rid of makeup, with the tiniest application. Smells gorgeous too!

Light

I love this! Gentle in the skin, doesn’t leave you feeling oily. Used it specifically whilst travelling through Sth East Asia when just before the wet season hit. High humidity. Was gentle enough and didn’t feel heavy or leave the skin feeling dry and stripped of oils. Perfect balance.

My best item

First of all, Aesop cleanser has a very strong herbal scent! Although the product is very gentle, it sufficiently removes basic light makeup. I only use Aesop cleanser in the morning, use cleansing water in the evening, and then #cleanse using Aesop cleanser.

Not fabulous

I got this as a sample. Typically, foaming cleansers dry my skin out to the point where it is uncomfortably dry. Whilst this gel foaming cleanser didn't strip my skin bare, I was still dry afterwards. I used this as a second cleanse after removing make up with the Eve Lom cleanser. I usually use a second cleanser so this was just my normal routine so that I was keeping the testing fair. The smell is unnecessarily strong and, to me, unpleasant. It reminded me of a high street shop that I cannot name but that often has a "penny sale." I would not purchase this for anyone, unless they actually asked for it. Remarkably average for a product that describes itself as "fabulous."

Repeat user

I love this very light cleanser and only wish a pump was offered with it as always feels more risky opening the cap on the glass bottle in the shower rather than a quick go to pump action top. Feedback to Aesop more than CB. Aesop is a regular in my bathroom cabinet as they are trying their best to ensure their ESG is moving with the times and I am an advocate of such change.
