Just finished a 4.5 hour ride with the helmet and here are my observations vs. my Arai Quantum X and Arai XD4. I love both of the Arai's, but I have neck soreness on long rides because of their weight. I was hoping the K6 could help.So are the positives I found with the K6:-weight: this is really a game changer. It feels very light and made a significant difference in how my neck felt after a long ride.-comfort: it is very comfortable for me. No hotspots, and a very soft and plush material.-Noise: this helmet is dramatically quieter than either Arai. It was about 30 minutes into the ride when I realized it was quiet, I wasn't hearing the usual buffeting.-visor: I really like the latch mechanism. Seems easier to operate than the fussy latch on the Quantum X. ... MoreJust finished a 4.5 hour ride with the helmet and here are my observations vs. my Arai Quantum X and Arai XD4. Seems easier to operate than the fussy latch on the Quantum X. About equal to the much simpler latch on the XD4.The negatives:-it's huge: I wear a size ML which comes with the large shell. It is physically a larger shell than either size Arai (size M in the Quantum X, and L in the XD4). When I put it on my wife's first comment was 'Wow, that thing is big!". I wish the ML size came with the medium shell.-ventilation: it was a cold day this morning, about 40 degrees. In this weather I have to keep the vents on the Arai closed or my bald head will freeze. With the K6 I had all the vents open and was not feeling cold at all.-visibilty: shoulder checks on the K6 were more difficult than on either the Quantum X or the XD4. The K6 is so much thicker at the eye port that it blocks your view when trying to look back. For comparison, the XD4and Quantum X are 1.5" thick while the K6 is 2.25" thick. I ran a test when I got home and the rearward visibility on the Quantum X, even with the smaller viewport is better. The rearward view with the XD4 is drastically better. Perhaps with the K6 in MS size this would not be an issue, but you sure feel it with the larger shell size of the ML.In summary I like the K6 because I feel less stiff and sore in my neck and shoulder area after a long ride: the reason why I bought it. However if I could have an XD4 that weighed the same as the K6 it would be my perfect helmet.

I just started riding again and had been using a cheap Zox modular helmet that I bought over 10 years ago (didn’t see much use but yeah I know) Now I know that a helmet costing 5x as much can be 5x as good. Crystal clear visor with great field of view and zero fog, not even with wet hair after a shower, and I haven’t even put on the anti-fog visor yet. Can feel the ventilation. Just soooo much less cumbersome!I was hesitant on the price and considered getting something with the same certifications but just overall less nice/light/feature-rich but shaving off weight and shell size was worth it, considering I’m a medium. Tip: Flexon glasses frames are great for this purpose, no worries about bending.

The AGV K6 I have is light, well made, and feature rich. The new K6S updated model is just as well made and full featured, but is also more aerodynamic and even lighter at under 1300 grams. I can feel the difference when riding in even less buffeting at speed on my naked bike. I also love the interior padding- just the right firm/soft balance, great soft texture, easy to remove and clean all pads, and despite the criticism about the visor, once you get the hang of opening and closing with the front center latch, it is easy and very positive to lock and unlock, and the visors, well a bit pricey due to the attachment mech, are flawless, thick, and provide a great wide angle view. I only wear AGV helmets. They dropped the Med large and small sizing with no issues- I ... MoreThe AGV K6 I have is light, well made, and feature rich. I also wear an X3000 which I think is the best of the retro helmets for fit, finish and style. However, the new K6S model is a great helmet- quiet, comfortable and fantastically lightweight.

I was having so much trouble finding a helmet that would fit my odd, narrow head. No matter how small I went, XS, XS Liners, Chin Curtains......once I was over 85 mph wind was catching and pulling my helmet and head around. I ride an upright Streetfighter, so I'm already a sail, and battling the wind in my helmet was wreaking havoc on my neck and shoulders. It was distracting and unenjoyable. I started to wonder if I was a long oval, but I really didn't have hot spot issues with intermediate oval brands (aside from one).I was about to try an Arai, but I noticed how different of a profile AGV has compared to my other helmets (which include HJC, Shoei, Bell). They are much more aerodynamic looking, so I figured I would put out the money and give it try, and I am so glad I did! When I first tried it on I was still concerned as I didn't have a super tight fit on my cheeks, and I could still kind of wiggle it side to side. My head size comes smack dap in the middle of XS and SM, so I decided to start with XS due to my previous fit issues.I took it for my first test ride, which was around an hour and instantly noticed a difference! Firstly, the weight! Its incredibly light as others have noted. I ride a Ducati Streetfighter so no matter what, I'm always going to be a bit of sail. But this helmet cuts right through the wind beautifully! Getting up into triple digit speeds I did notice the nose guard moves into your nose a little bit. I wasn't surprised as I had read other reviews stating this same thing. Definitely not a deal breaker since I'm not consistently riding at speeds like this. I had zero issues with wind catching and pulling my head up or to the side! HUGE WIN! I was literally giggling in my helmet with joy after this ride. I did my first ride without earplugs, and it is pretty noisy. So Ill be sure to wear them next time.I am incredibly happy with this helmet! I just need to make some decals or something fun to dress it up a bit. :)
This is a strange review, I didn't get this helmet. Oh I wanted to, though. I have, it seems a LONG OVAL head. The K6 S is a moderate oval.I started with the size chart, and knew I didn't have a round head and my old KBC VR-2 was a SM size too, but was loose side to side. OK, I tried the XS and I could not wear it for twenty minutes until major compression headache. On to the SM size. I was a 53cm and the SM was 54cm and up. The AGV fit small so I figured I'm good to go! I though I was good to go but after 45 minutes in the helmet watching Moto GP races on my tablet, the headache was back. I could feel my pulse in my head pounding after awhile. I took the helmet off and huge welts popped out of my head when circulation returned. Those took 15 minutes to go away ... MoreThis is a strange review, I didn't get this helmet. Oh I wanted to, though. I have, it seems a LONG OVAL head. Those took 15 minutes to go away and I was red forehead going to bed. Will a MD, medium, work? No, it will fix the front to back but now the side to side is too loose. Don't do this buying helmet. Admit it and move on the the right head shape. I lived when people like me just ahd to deal with it.This mess could be avoided if a proper OVALITY (new size aid) chart is added!-Measure the circumference as usual. This is the Gross size helmet circumference.- Measure your front to back distance between the widest part the helmet touches. Imaging two vertical board on each side of your head. Measure the distance between them.- Measure the widest side to side (ear-to-ear) distance. Move the boards to the side of your head.- Now divide your heads front to back by the side to side measurement numbers.A ROUND head will be 1.0, same both ways. It's a circle!A MODERATE oval may be a ratio of 1.1-1.2 (no more than 20% longer than wide).A LONG OVAL may be greater than 1.2 and up.Since this is a ratio, it is the same chart for all head's "ovality". Easy to do, so let's do it!Now have something more concrete than a guess that your head is round or how oval. In God we trust all else bring data. The AGV is definitely a moderate oval and I'm clearly a LONG OVAL so off to ARAI Signet-X I have to go once I re-gather more funds. UGH.But, the AGV K6 S is a great helmet if it fits you. Quality is good, it's features are great. it's price is proper and it is DOD and better, ECE tested (every design has to be tested to certify ECE). I like the center face shield LOCK. And, the face shield is EASY to use and remove, and stays put at each detent. The vents are easy to feel with my fall weight armored gloves. The weight is extra ordinary, I loved it. It also comes with pin lock AND the shield stock. Not just pin lock ready.I 100% recommend trying this helmet if you are a moderate oval head. LONG OVAL heads will never fit this shell unless it is too wide and rocks back and fourth on your head like my old KBC does once it is long enough to not smash your head. And no, new helmets Do Not break-in a lot with modern linings that are designed to stay put and do their job protection your head, and that means they don't squish out of the way too much like the old days. My head did a lot of squishing linings out of the way over the last 45 years!I can't report wind and noise in the living room. But I wear ear plug, always. The lining feels gorgeous and should be really nice with the right head shape. Air flow? Don't know that either so cross check with riders for that.
Should have just bought this to start with but it was more money...bought an LS2 challenger gt 2 yrs ago n it fit perfectly but after 2 yrs it started giving me headaches...then i bought the HJC RAPHA 11 PRO a few months ago... sadly a bit to snug n not breaking in enough to make me keep it (getting headaches)Got the AGV today , actually .4oz lighter than HJC , very nice fit, air flow is ok (the HJC HAS PHENOMENAL AIRFLOW) .. chin guard further from face 👍🏻just wish all these helmet manufacturers would stop w the stupid communication pockets around your ears.. just makes the helmet LOUD ... they did it perfectly with the old Q3R way back in the 90's.. absolute perfect fit n SOOOO quiet 🤫 (no ear plugs needed, bet it was less than 30 decibels around your ears) ... MoreShould have just bought this to start with but it was more money...bought an LS2 challenger gt 2 yrs ago n it fit perfectly but after 2 yrs it started giving me headaches...then i bought the HJC RAPHA 11 PRO a few months ago... sadly a bit to snug n not breaking in enough to make me keep it (getting headaches)Got the AGV today , actually .4oz lighter than HJC , very nice fit, air flow is ok (the HJC HAS PHENOMENAL AIRFLOW) .. chin guard further from face 👍🏻just wish all these helmet manufacturers would stop w the stupid communication pockets around your ears.. just makes the helmet LOUD ... they did it perfectly with the old Q3R way back in the 90's.. absolute perfect fit n SOOOO quiet 🤫 (no ear plugs needed, bet it was less than 30 decibels around your ears) the noise is the reason for 4 stars...if you know agv fits correctly then just pull the trigger n get what you know works... keeps more money in ur pocket in the long run ...
This helmet is amazing! Slick and sporty looks in tandem with wonderful safety certifications. My only challenge was the sizing. When I measured my head it came out around a 57cm circumference, and following the size chart it was a Medium. I got it, barely able to get on. Re-ordered in a size large - snug and comfortable! To all looking to buy this I'd recommend sizing up unless you've got a really slim face. Or order two sizes and return what doesn't fit.The helmet is wonderfully light and the vision is amazing. I felt like I could see more than the tunnel vision I had was normally permitting!
Coming from a competitive brand that I’ve been buying for decades, it was a big deal to change. Super happy I did. The fist thing I noticed was the optics of both the clear and tinted visors are exceptional. Wide field of view is also great. Dark visor could definitely be darker. Very comfortable fit hot my shape. Vents work well. Helmet is stable at speed (I ride a hyper naked bike)Wind noise is noticeable, probably due to the large ear cutouts. I thought the visor lock mechanism would be awkward, but I was use to it quickly. Some air turbulence in front of the eyes which is not good when cold . But….I’d buy again
I unfortunately hate this helmet. I've had it now for over a year thinking just needed time but just hate it. Had an RF1200 and the weight difference and reviews made me go for the K6.I don't understand how a helmet can be both so loud (understand probably is because of the light weight) but also let very little air in. Other than the weight I don't see any other area where this is better or even comparable to the RF.It is not comfortable what so ever, I would say is more of a round oval. It's always on my nose (I do have a big nose but never had issues so badly like with this helmet), it seems to put a lot of pain points all over but interestingly enough doesn't really seem to hold my head properly (I did get it fitted correctly, smaller was way too small). So ... MoreI unfortunately hate this helmet. Because of all the good reviews I kept thinking it needed time or it was a a fitting problem, but after re-trying other sizes it is clear that at least for my head this is a terrible helmet. My advice if you are considering, if you try it and notice any of those things it will get worse.
Really like this helmet. Not as quiet as some of the other reviews suggest and have a love/hate relationship with the visor latch mechanism. Really like that it locks into different positions: fully closed and partly open. So it doesn't fly open when you shoulder check at speed. Easy to release from the partly open position but I haven't found an easy way of unlocking from fully closed position. You really have to jam your thumb into the release which pushes the helmet into your chin. Not an issue for long high speed running but maybe not great in traffic with a lot of stop and start.
