AKG Harman K240 MKII Studio Headphones Over-the-ear Black
The AKG K 240 MK II is a newly updated version of AKG's most successful headphones with Varimotion technology and XXL transducers. The K 240 MK II's semi-open ear cups have around-the-ear coupling to deliver solid bass, accurate mids and crystal-clear highs. Thanks to its lower impedance and improved sensitivity, it can be used with low-output audio sources to deliver its incredible sound. The detachable OFC cable has gold-plated plugs for optimum audio quality and exceptional ease of service. AKG Varimotion Technology The basis of superior audio performance The heart of any headphone is the diaphragm. Made of extremely thin foil, the diaphragm is required by transducer designers to perform incredible, almost artistic feats. The rim of the diaphragm must vibrate elastically while the center portion should move like a piston. AKG achieved just that by designing the Varimotion system. The sound zone in the center is thicker than the rim and therefore moves like a piston with no partial oscillations. The result is an absolutely realistic sound, with a better sonic perspective and an airier high end. The rim, or movement zone, is thinner and vibrates more easily, providing a powerful, punchy bass range.

I did burn-in for 20 hours before using this headphones for listening music, hearing foreign language.Pros: balanced, flat and no color sound. Mid sound is very clear (best for acoustic, live music and listening foreign language), high is comfortable, low is just enough. I can use for several hours without ear fatigue or feeling uncomfortable.Cons: It's better for being used as the studio monitor haedphones than for listening music but I can use it for both usage.

Disappointed the frequency range was not advertised at time of purchase.Purchased due to appearance.Hollow in sound even when headband is applied.I suppose with hindsight should have purchased a closed back sort of headphones with low end frequency and adequate mid and high frequency range.Albeit i have problems the solution may have been to find store even though now living a few miles away.Thank you all for what you have achieved in the past now and in the future.Your contributions to the Music industry has and always will be appreciated.

Bought this headphone to use in my "studio". The sound is really good, airy, open, enough bass, good definition. It is semi open which I like better than a closed. Fits very well and is comfortable to wear for several hours. Nice to have two options of cushions (velvet and leatherette) and two different cables with miniXLR connection. Definitely an upgrade to my MkI. I would recommend it.

The classic AKG K240 has been a studio reference since it inception, back in the 20th Century.Since moving manufacture to China, it has become lighter in weight (kinder to the head!) and lower in price (kinder to the wallet/budget) with no loss in sound quality or isolation from background noise.Still the same professional reference headphones, but now at a price which puts them more easily at reach to serious home musicians and "hi-fi" music lovers. All this, AND they now come with two interchangeable cable (straight or coiled) and two choices of earcushion (leatherette or velvet) as part of the package.Well done AKG for improving on an already reference-class product; Well done DV247/MusicStore for providing excellent product and first class service at a ... MoreThe classic AKG K240 has been a studio reference since it inception, back in the 20th Century.Since moving manufacture to China, it has become lighter in weight (kinder to the head!) and lower in price (kinder to the wallet/budget) with no loss in sound quality or isolation from background noise.Still the same professional reference headphones, but now at a price which puts them more easily at reach to serious home musicians and "hi-fi" music lovers. All this, AND they now come with two interchangeable cable (straight or coiled) and two choices of earcushion (leatherette or velvet) as part of the package.Well done AKG for improving on an already reference-class product; Well done DV247/MusicStore for providing excellent product and first class service at a very competitive price.Happy customer (what's not to like?)
A good headphone for a great price. I bought it to use with my guitar amp, and I'm happy with it. The only problem I noticed is that this headphone gets a lot of sound interference from other equipment when it is plugged in my amplifier. I have another Sony headphone that does not do it. Another things that could be improved is sound isolation. My wife says that she can perfectly listen to the music when I have my headphones on. Anyway, I'm happy with it, especially in this price range.
Well made, comfortable with a clear precise sound. Very comfortable to wear and self adjusting, better than most with plastic earpiece mounts that can be more fragile. Comes with spare soft material ear cushions and two interchangeable leads with mini xlr plugs and one sided cable, less to snag. Trusted manufacturer and should last for years, unlike my more expensive Denons which had none of the above equipment and strength and are bass heavy for mixing. One earpiece y support broke on my Denons after a few months and now is glued togther (twice) and now bodged up and reinforced. I now avoid anything other than the AKG type.AKG also beats Beyer in the same price range in reviews, which is one of my favourite makes for microphones, but lthe Beyer lacked the ... MoreWell made, comfortable with a clear precise sound. Overpriced in my opinion. Well done AKG.
I needed a new pair of headphones and was on a budget. I was looking at the Beyerdynamic DT770 that are in the same price range and was ultimately drawn to the velvet earpads. After additional research, recommendation after recommendation said to go with these instead. Little did I know that these came with replacement velvet earpads in the box so I pulled the trigger. Man was I glad I did. They sound amazing! Very open and airy sound, clear and flat (no added boost in any frequency range) that I could tell. They are also lightweight compared to the two pairs of Senheiser HD280 that I have finally replaced. I no longer have an isolated private studio so mixing on monitors late at night is not allowed with two young kids. I haven't mixed on these yet but I am so ... MoreI needed a new pair of headphones and was on a budget. These are studio headphones, so don’t expect to have the bass and kick drum pounding in your ears. That’s not whar these are made for. These are great for monitoring, mixing, and even recording. Semi-open, so while they have some external sound bleed, they do not give you ear fatigue from hours of listening. These are durable, too. Probably because they’re so lightweight. They certainly won’t break under their own weight. These are the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever had on for hours and hours. They come with 2 different types of ear pads and 2 different types of cables. These are great headphones for practicing or music in general but it is to note that they are a cheap re-Edition of the original K240s. Materials are not as quite as good and the cable is a bit fiddly for today’ standards. If we put those cons in relation to the price we have nothing to complain about though. At this price point it’s hard to reach the sound quality of these AKGs.
Purchased these a week ago to replace a pair of other headphones that had come to the end of their useful life. I owned the original model way back in the 1980s and thought that the new MK-II model would be worth a try. Compared to what these replace, the bass seemed rather too full, but I listened to some old recordings by Grace Jones and Robert Palmer and Steely Dan, to be sure that all was okay. Very surprised and impressed with the level of accessories that these phones come with: Spare lead and ear cushions, along with the 1/4" adapter. Also appreciate the light weight and the comfortable feel. An insignificant amount of acoustical leakage from the semi-closed design.
