This was to replace a steamer that was lost in a move to Colorado. I like that the new design can be used with 6" & 8" pots. The quality is what I have come to expect from All-Clad, I purchased my first MasterChef pot 45 years ago when I was a professional Chef and still use that pot almost daily and have built a complete set of MasterChef pots and pans over the years. The quality of the product has remained high in my 45 years of purchasing All-Clad. The one thing that has reduced the utility of the product was the decision (for vanity reasons) to move from the cast steel rough surface pan handle about 30 years ago to a finely finished and slippery high polish handle. I love my All-Clads!

I received this All-Clad steamer several months ago. I was happy to see that it worked on several of my d5 sauce pans, the 2-quart and 3-quart and 4-quart. That is a nice feature. I steam broccoli, as well as cut up potatoes almost weekly and it does a good job. The only design change I would make is that the holes area in the bottom of the steamer should cover more area. There are only 2 of us and small meals work fine, but I see a problem if I had to put a large amount of vegetables to steam since the area with the holes for the steam is so small. Overall I like it a lot and would recommend it to a friend. I am a big All-Clad fan.

Recently my wife and I bought a 10-piece set that came with a bonus 15-inch oval baker and then we separately purchased the steamer and double boiler. They are FANTASTIC! They cook quickly and evenly and clean up nicely too by hand or in the dishwasher. So happy to have finally found stainless steel made in America that was at a purchase price we could afford. It pays to do the research and shop wisely!

It was so easy to cook my veggies. I used an induction stove and it was brought to a steam very quickly. Must stand by and wait for the steam to happen so you don't over cook the veggies. 2nd time was perfect as I didn't make the same mistake twice. Cooking with Induction has a learning curve as everything heats up super fast even at low power. You don't have to wait too long though. Very easy to drain.
This is a very good heavy duty steamer. I bought it to use with my All-Clad 3 quart saucepan and it fits perfectly (as would be expected). The lid is a good fit. Cleaning is a breeze but that is to be expected in a steamer. While more expensive than some steamer inserts on the market, the steamer is not as expensive as other AC pieces- I assume because it is not clad but rather all stainless. Although not clad the steamer is heavy duty and I expect it will bear up well under normal cooking situations.
Does what it says on the tin. Fits the 3-quart Pan perfectly and the lid it came with doubles as both the steamer and pot lid. Great addition to my All-Clad collection!
I like this steamer. It's very large--it can hold enough veggies for a large dinner party--up to about 6-8 people depending on what you put in it.I would have given it 5 stars, except it is made in China and is not quite the same quality as the 3-quart All-Clad Copper Core Sauce Pan with which I use it. While I realize it shouldn't be airtight, I wish it would fit a little more snugly in the sauce pan. It seems like most of the steam escapes from the sides of the steamer.All in all, though, I am very satisfied and I would buy this again.
I was hoping that the All-Clad steamer would also be manufactured in USA and match the D5 set that I purchased recently. However, I have learned that it is only made in China with a different quality and different style pot lid handle and pot handles that do not match. That said, I had no choice and therefore did purchase it. I hope that All-Clad will reconsider location of manufacture in the future. Thank you for your excellent D5 set that will never see the inside of a dishwasher!
I have owned All-Clad cookware for 20 years, and love its beauty and performance. I use my pieces every day, and love their durability, even heat distribution, and great design--solid big handles that are easy to grasp even with oven mitts on. Recommended to me by professional chefs, and a joy to cook with. My new steamer is a great addition--healthy cooking method and delicious.
This particular All Clad Steamer with lid included works as well as I'd hoped. Id previously ordered the version without the lid, and for some reason that steamer basket wouldn't sit evenly on any pans, allowing too much steam to escape up the sides. This one works great. I use it on both the straight edge and curved edge 3 qt. All Clad pans I have, though it works a little better on the straight edge one. I like the double handles for lifting off, much better than a single handle. Its easy to clean and I like having the extra lid available for other pans. I can't believe how much better vegetables taste when I use this, and how fast they steam. No more mushy or undercooked veggies. Definitely recommend. No its not made in USA but it seems well made.
