This All-clad sauté pan is beautiful. The size and weight are perfect. Even heat and easy to clean. This is my favorite Bloomingdale’s sale purchase, the best price. Shipping was super fast. I’m very happy.

I have not had it long enough to cook a full variety of my normal items, but have been very pleased. Being a very large diameter pan, I have experienced very even edge to edge browning in meats, even when the pan is approaching crowded. Readings taken with an infrared thermometer show amazingly even heat distribution. This pan is replacing a five and a seven quart original 1/4” thick Calphalon commercial aluminum pans, which gradually developed severe warping on the bottoms over the many years I enjoyed them. I also love the way the All-clads interior is polished and foods slide easily while shaking.

I've never been disappointed with an All-Clad purchase. Every piece has performed exceptionally well and this one is no exception. Heats up super fast and evenly and is a joy to cook with. The only thing I would change would be the handle. The weight of the pan makes the handle a little uncomfortable when you're trying to hold the entire unit with food in it. The concave aspect leaves a ridge on either side of the handle that presses into your palm more than I'd like. Dissipates heat very well though.

The 5 qt copper core saute pan is absolutely as wonderful as I expected it to be after having several other All Clad pieces, I LOVE IT! However...I cannot give it the 5 stars it deserves because I am seriously dissapointed with the lid. My other pieces with lids are the d5 line and their lids say All Clad on the handle. This one does not. This makes it difficult to quickly grab the right lid because there is no identification and difference between it and the lids to some of my other much lower quality cookware pieces. As far as lids go, it functions fine, but it doesn't match the d5 pieces and therefore grabbing for it isn't as streamlined. I have looked at the pictures closely and now see that the lids are different on the d5 line versus the copper core line so I ... Especially for what the copper clad line costs. And maybe nobody else mixes the lines like I do so they don't care...I went with copper core for my 12' skillet (no lid) and this saute pan but saved money on sauce pans by going with d5 there.
Great heat distribution and large capacity. I have been an all clad user for over a decade and probably have 8 pots & pans of the copper core. If I’m cooking for a large party or doing batch prep and this is my absolute favorite of my series. I use a 6 burner Wolf gas stove and heat distribution is not a problem at all and it doesn’t over crowd my other burners. I can simmer and adjust my “protein in sauce” thickness easily by putting on the big broad lid or removing it. (Makes adjustments to the liquid in the sauce very easily). If you can afford it, it’ll be your favorite pan for large recipes. And yes, I often leave it on the stove all nice and clean.
This cookware was highly recommended to me by my daughter who works as a food scientist and has a chef certification. It is an incredible cookware set and I appreciate how evenly it cooks, thanks to the copper layer. The weight is substantial and the handles are long, so they are not hot to hold. The large pot is a perfect size for soups and cooking pasta. The entire set is beautiful and cleans up very well. I do not put it in the dishwasher, even though it states that it is safe to do so. I want to keep it in great condition. I did use Bar Keepers Friend on the small skillet after making scrambled eggs and the skillet cleaned great without scratching. I would probably use a nonstick pan for eggs in the future, but everything else that I have cooked with the kettles ... I have never owned a good quality set of cookware, and I am enjoying this set immensely. The price is high, but watch for sales and discounts and you can save money on the purchase.
This is just a phenomenal piece of cookware. It preheats quickly and most importantly, evenly. It works exactly as portrayed on All-Clad's website. Being able to transfer from the stove to the oven in something other than a cast iron (which doesn't heat evenly) has done wonders for my ability to cook things like steak and larger vegetables like zucchini without a lot of inconvenience. Absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves to cook at home.
I purchased 4 cooper core pots which were quite expensive and I am so sorry that I did. I have a set of Viking pots that I have used for years and I wanted to add to the set but they don't make the ones I have anymore. I decided to try the All-Clad and I am sorry to say that the handles are actually painful. The edges are TOO sharp and they hurt my hands when I pick up a loaded pot. I never had that issue with the Viking pans because the handle is not as round and it is thicker with less sharp edges. I am so sorry I purchased these pots since I cannot return them now. If they just put some sort of an insert in the hollow portion of the handle then then sharp edges would not dig into your hands.
I am a fan of the all clad line and use it for many of my pans, but this is by far my least favorite. It is terrible for browning or searing meats, and is not an option for fish. Trying to sear any meat like chicken is a disaster as the it will stick fast to the oiled pan and tear if you try move or flip. Instead of nicely browned meat, you will end up with unappetizing white meat with the brown surface stuck to the pan. You will also notice a white discoloration on the pan surface as well after cleaning. Construction, handles and size are all very good, so it good for bringing final meals together for sauté can’t use it for any serious prep. Only pull it out as a last resort for size.
This is a must have for any avid cook at home looking to invest in high quality cookware. In terms of quality and performance, it is as expected from the All Clad brand. But, as the previous reviewer said, it is a disappointment that All Clad didn’t use the same lid with its logo on the handle like the d5 line. I would expect to have the premium lid for their most premium line. After shopping around we decided on this one because it had the diameter we were looking for, which was at least 12”. This 5 quart deep sauté pan has a 12.75” diameter and not 13” as listed on this product page. If you were wondering why the 6 quart copper core sauté pan has the exact same dimensions listed as this one with a difference of 1lb in weight, but the price between the 5 qt and 6 ... The 5 quart is 12.75” diameter with a depth of 2.75” at 5 lbs and the 6 quart is 13.75” diameter with a depth of 2.75”, and a weight of 6 lbs. I verified this by calling All Clad’s customer service.
